  1. I had to watch the video numerous times to see a wobble effect. Very slight shaking. You might see if any vibrations are causing the camera to shake ever so slightly. I have an outside camera mounted on the house beam, and everytime I close the gate the video from that camera "wobbles". Check if any vibrations are causing this first. If not then I would recommend you using rg59 coax cables if you are using those thin q-see cables.

    disappointed with focus

My CNB vbm-24vf had the same situation. Sharpness on default was a bit blurry. I set the sharpness to the highest and it became clear. Don't know what use the sharpness is, if you have to set it to max for a clear picture. The only thing I can think of is that with the sharpness on max, my dvr uses more disk space.

VBM-24VF config- Night still in Color

Hmmm. Mine don't have a gamma setting. I was going to add to that topic Rory, but I did do a initial reset so I don't remember all of the original settings.

VBM-24VF config- Night still in Color

good idea. Although 7 would be a little too dark to leave it in Seems on some versions 0.35 is default while others are 0.45 .. That's the setting I use on one of my cams with enough light. It too wouldn't switch to b/w. After over a week of fooling around with the settings I settled on a gain setting of 7. Factory default is 15. As you know high gains will amplify noise. I guess some people like the bright live view (high gain), but for me I need the recording to be clear without all the noise. Rory, I never seen a gain setting of 0.35. Maybe other versions of vbm-24vf's around?

Try setting the gain to 7, and see if it switches to b/w.

    Where to buy VBM-24VF

I got mine from http://###. They also sent me free 24vac transformers with each camera purchased. Somebody posted that they had problems with them, but for me they were great. edit: Sorry bout the link Rory. Store is Surveillance-video. Just Google it xD.
  10. Try setting mail settings on dvr to port 465 or 587.
  11. As SEANHAWG said and... Might be that something is not loading right in Internet Explorer. Your IE says that its in an unknown zone. IE usually says "Unknown Zone" when it is between one page and the next, before it has decided what zone the new page belongs in. Something is restricting IE from determining what zone to use. Maybe active x is blocked. You may have to allow active x to run on Internet Explorer if the dvr uses it. Go to tools-internet options-security and set all zones to low if needed. Reset all levels to default or the original settings once done. Though you have a login screen, so I think active x is enabled. See if your firewall is blocking access, either from your router or pc. Put your dvr address in the DMZ zone in your router to disable firewall to the dvr.
  12. Try Smartsniff here http://download.cnet.com/SmartSniff/3000-2085_4-10457041.html and see if you can locate the ip address.

Ebay DVR with CNB VBM 24vf

Good point Rory. The description says "DVD quality 720x240 resolution" which I would assume that would be for live view. I should have read it better. Probably records at CIF. Usually it would be "DVD quality 720x480 resolution" so their live view must suck too.

I'm curious too. Please post some recorded snapshots once you get everything running.

Personally I wouldn't buy a no name dvr from a seller in China. I you don't like it, the shipping to return it would exceed the cost of the dvr. Also this dvr records at half D1 (720x240). You will probably want a dvr that records at D1 (720x480) with 7 frames per second at least.

You have to specify the exact model of the dvr as Ebay has hundreds of different dvr's for sale, from junk to executive.

No need to worry, just get a good, reputable dvr and buy it from somewhere reputable. Amazon is a good place for newbies as it has free shipping and a great return policy in the US. You can access the dvr gui directly from the dvr's monitor output or from a computer with that dvr software loaded on it.

Those cameras should be fine. And if you find out that the dvr is not as expected you can always buy a better one.
  19. I would get a camera with an auto-iris lens with user configurable settings to gamma correction and brightness. I only have a March Networks camera that has those features although I have never pointed it into direct sunlight.

What is the best CCTV Cameras to use

Search Cnb Vbm-24vf and see if that suits your needs. You have to be more specific as to the type (ip, analog, dome, bullet, ext/interior, lighting situation, viewing area, cost, etc) of camera you need.
  21. I usually edit my video files with virtualdub. Get it here http://virtualdub.sourceforge.net/ Try and see if virtualdub will load that .dsf file. It may be that Digiop video files are playable only with DiSSViewer. If your DiSSViewer.exe file is corrupted, create another backup as data and use the new DiSSViewer.exe file.

    Avtech 674 & Remote View

192.168.1.10 is the local address, accessible only on your LAN. To access outside your LAN, you need to know your public ip address. Go here http://whatismyipaddress.com/. Use http ://public ip address:port number to access dvr outside your local network. You may have to allow active x to run on Internet Explorer if the dvr uses it. Go to tools-internet options-security and set all zones to low if needed. Reset all levels to default or the original settings once done.

Need help with an avi video...

Can you put this video up for download? This video uses a proprietary codec from a dvr. You could download video codecs from some common manufacturers and see if that works. Some dvr's use a proprietary codec and some do not.

    Unknown CCTV System

Yes, you can use the capture card on your pc as long as the pc is left on and you have enough system resources. And try a cam software like Webcamxp (free) or Blue Iris.
