That camera at geeks will not work. First, if you use that camera with infrared lighting, you are going to see only a bright white ghost (no detail) because of the infrareds being very close to the subject viewed. And the visual angle is too small. You would need the largest viewing angle, being that your view is so close. For that server, take your chances. Who knows. Edit: If you are really set on getting those cameras you could probably disable or diffuse them to lessen the over saturation of the infrared's. Only by trial and error though.

Yes, that is correct. But if it was me, I would buy a standalone dvr like a avtech or avermedia using a hard drive for video recording. A dvr will have more features and options than your current setup. And it's also frustrating to search your recordings on a vcr.

Buy a BNC to RCA adapter for the multiplexer to the VCR, and a RCA to VGA adapter for the VCR to the monitor.

My March Networks Megapx2m camera does this, though only in 640 x 480 resolution. It has an adaptive bit rate regulation setting that evaluates the available bandwidth and scales the video quality accordingly. Never used it though.

I have a Lorex 20" all in one and it has the same search feature. I can search up to 64x and see all 8 channels at one time. There is no lag in its interface. Though I love the user friendly interface, I think next time I will buy individual components. Just waiting for this unit to break. It's been 2 years so hopefully soon. Its easy to get spoiled from searching at 64x displaying 8 cams simultaneously. I hope someone answers because I want the same requirements as you.

Need help to for internet viwing of cctv system
D.V.S. replied to chantb933's topic in General Digital Discussion
Camera can be seen using the stores internet connection but not from any other internet connection (home, starbucks etc). Is the above true? Then follow the guide below. http://www.networkwebcams.co.uk/blog/2007/10/22/howto-port-forwarding-101/ -
Here's a recorded snapshot on a Lorex 20" all in one from the VBM-24VF. Bantham1 said his other cameras don't have those jagged edges, so I don't know as I thought it was maybe the de-interlacing feature on his dvr gone bad or maybe if a firmware update would help. The van is going down the street at about 20 mph.

Thanks bantham1, finally found it. Now I just got to wait the 2 weeks for it to arrive in Hawaii, so I can play with it.

Here's a VBM-24VF still shot at 2:37am, street light behind lady @ 50 feet, street light ahead of lady @ 200 feet, 90% full moon out (was cloudy though), no infrared. Camera gain at 6 (don't like too high gain settings, causes too much noise). Camera is 20 feet from lady, so I would prefer a flood ir not a spot. Don't know if I'm going to add an ir illuminator as I don't like the zombie look. But that adjustable ir beam bantham1 talks about seems like something I could play around with. Taken from a Lorex 20" all in one system @ D1. I know, don't laugh. De-interlaced with vitualdub using avisynth with smart deinterlace filter. This lorex system does not automatically de-interlace.

Hey bantham1. What is that ebay bullet ir you used. Can't find it on ebay. Would be nice to have one that I could adjust the beam pattern manually.

There are cameras with built in sd card recorders. Here is one. Just power it up with a 12vdc source. Going to need a motion light if it is used for night use. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.35356

I had this happen to me when there was too much street lighting and the camera (default settings) would not switch to b/w at night. Turn down the gain settings, maybe try a setting of 8, and see if it switches to b/w. Factory default for gain is 15. If it is indeed dark out there, check that you are using quality cables, like a good rg59 cable with Paladin compression bnc connectors. Don't use that factory pre-made cables if possible. I have used the Lorex VQ2121 Night Vision illuminator from amazon. About $60. I have used cheaper ones in the past but they don't last as long.

Hi everyone. I currently have a Lorex 20" system and the dvr recording at D1 sucks. So it's time to get something better. Which one should I get? Avtech AVC798AD http://www.ussscctv.com/newavtechavc798ad16channelsrealtime480fpsh264dvrremoteviewandcontrolmousenetworkvgausbdvd-rcmsandaudiooverinternetwith1tb.aspx or the Ebay one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250391583752&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT. Alot of people have bought and liked that Ebay DVR. Does anyone here own one? I want to get a 16ch dvr, please help me choose a good one and hopefully it is under $1000.
