How to connect siren to DVR ?
D.V.S. replied to sofianazionale's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You will need a low current relay, like an ELK-912 relay for 12 volts. Here's a diagram for some basic hookups. -
Just as I thought. Removing the smoke dome made the picture much brighter. Makes me want to leave off that dome cover. Does CNB make clear dome covers? Or is there any CNB dome with a clear dome that will fit the VBM-24vf? Without dome cover With dome cover edit: Vcm-24vf is similar

Ok, so after installing the samsung clear dome, I have to say there is not much of a difference between no dome and the clear one. Images are nice and bright, and it maintains its focus. There is a slight magnification with the clear dome installed but it does not seem to affect video quality like the original smoke dome. Night shots are truly amazing now. I may reduce my AGC of 4 down a few notches. The only disadvantage I can think of is the autoswitching of day to night. With the increased light collecting ability, you may experience that the cam will stay in day (color) mode. My cams do switch to night mode though. You can easily test this by removing the smoke dome at dusk and see if it switches after it becomes dark outside. I'm not going to post any final pictures comparing the clear to no dome. They look the same. But if you ask, then I will obey. Is it worth it? To me, yes. Better night performance and less picture degradation. Easy to install too. Try removing that smoke dome and see for yourself.

Well stupid me. It seems like the samsung dome was a perfect fit in the cnb cover plate. I could even use the cnb o-ring on the samsung dome. The dome was from a scc-B5393 vandal cam. Any scc-B539x series should fit.

Here's a fast mod with the samsung clear dome. I have to cut the top portion of the dome off, as you can see the flange at the top 20% of video. Much better than the smoke dome. Without dome, then with samsung clear dome http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0mXA-Y3P7E

Hey thanks Jason. If u pause on the 1 sec and then look at 6 sec, you can see the difference. Off, the picture looks nice and sharp. On, the pic looks slightly off focus. Same as mine. I should be done putting on the samsung clear dome in a bit.

What brand and model is it? I think the usb port is for a storage device (usb flash/hard drive, sd card w/adapter) to which u can transfer your files to.

Blue Iris Recording Question
D.V.S. replied to lombana's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Contact their support. I found their support to be excellent, but I currently don't use Blue Iris. -
The best way to see the difference is to extract the video to your computer. By switching the paused video back and forth on the same player, you can see the change easier. Can you upload a video of this? Would be nice to see another example. The D2000 series and the Vbm/Vcm-24vf each fit a 100mm dome. Assuming Rory's contact is correct, the clear dome should fit in the 24vf's cover plate.

Yes, I see no reason for the smoke dome. On other domes that I purchased, they are all clear with a blackout insert. Does anyone have a smoke dome on a brand other than CNB? On one cam, I'm going to install it in the exterior wall like I did my other CNB. The other one has no wall there so I was thinking of retrofitting an extra Samsung clear dome on it. CNB Vbm-24vf mounted in exterior wall.

Look again. It does the same thing as my first video. Don't know how u missed it.

Yes it happens on my other one too. Here's the youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=es1OTK7brnE

If you watch my youtube video, you can see that the field of view actually changes. Try and pause the video and look at the stills of before and after. The dome actually does have some distortion on it. I may make a custom enclosure for these, as I don't know if I would trust those clear domes.
-
I tried removing the dome on my other CNB's and the picture does improve. It seems that the dome is causing some type of distortion. Either the smoke tint or the spherical shape of it. My domes are in excellent condition. Settings are mostly default other than AGC-4, maybe some changes to BLC. With the dome on, these camera's do a good job. But with it off, the performance increases more. It's not bugging me that much as I use megapixel cams to get the finer details. But it is a concern. edit: This is with the 1st generation cams no gamma. AGC 4 not 7

Thanks Rory. I hope that clear dome will not cost a fortune. I uploaded a daytime video on youtube. For this cam I could never get it focused correctly with the dome on. Focused without dome and when I put dome on it seems unfocused. Maybe the BBm-24vf would be a better choice because its a box camera. Only if rain doesn't hit it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NinRKvyMm5A

deinterlacing (yet blurred) vs. interlaced scan question
D.V.S. replied to mike_va's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would assume from his post that he already deinterlaced that snapshot, so deinterlacing it again would not do anything. I did not know you can deinterlace photos, learned something new. -
What to get for a better image then a DBM-24VD ?? >>
D.V.S. replied to platinum's topic in Security Cameras
Hi platinum. I would assume that a CNB dvr would record better videos than the snapshot shown by you, especially at max settings. Are you using quality rg59 cables and connectors? That may affect your picture quality. I custom made all my cables and the resulting videos improved drastically compared to my original store bought cables. -
deinterlacing (yet blurred) vs. interlaced scan question
D.V.S. replied to mike_va's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Looks like it's not deinterlacing properly. Try manually deinterlacing. http://www.100fps.com/ -
Well done Niran916. I remember having being able to log in and had no video. But since this happened on someone else's computer, I didn't want to alter her computer in any way. At least I may now know the problem.

That ip address is your local address. You have to know your public address to access your system outside your LAN. Read this guide. http://www.networkwebcams.co.uk/blog/2007/10/22/howto-port-forwarding-101/ edit: Once you have found your public ip address, port forwarded, properly configured your device, and set up/disabled firewalls, then the address should look something like this. http://66.91.19.1:81 66.91.19.1 is an example public address and 81 is the port number.

Jargon Translation
D.V.S. replied to The Late Lord Lucan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I have a SCC-B5393 and the manual seems to be the same. Try turning on dip switch 2 which is the Sens-up (low speed shutter). Also make sure dip switch 7 (auto-switching day/night) is on. The CNB VBM-24vf blows my samsung away in day or night. And I don't like the sens-up feature of the samsungs. -
Here are my current settings: Lens: ESC Brightness: 10 Flk: off White balance: ATW AGC: on Level: 4 SBLC: low DNR: off Sharpness: 20

You can either use electrical tape or silicon self fusing tape. Make sure it's outdoor rated with uv protection. And for either tape, cut the last end of the tape at an angle (60 degrees) to help prevent the end from "raising" (lifting) up.
