    Dahua DVR's and Blackberry

Yes, unfortunately you are fighting a lost cause. And lets face it, Blackberries suck compared to iPhones and Androids, LOL. Most DVR manufacturers are only focusing on Android and iPhone nowadays. I dont think I am even going to advertise that these work with blackberries anymore due to the inconsistency issues. There are so many versions of the blackberries and I have heard they are the hardest to develop for because they change their interface all of the time. But first I would check that you can even see an RTSP stream through a video player like VLC media player. They have an option where you can view the RTSP stream. Rory has a guide on how to do this if your interested.
  6. Let me know if that doesnt work and provide as much specificity of your problem or where the stumbling block is. I can usually troubleshoot it as long as you follow that guide to a T
  7. You just have to cancel within the first 14 days and they wont charge you. If you cancel you get to keep one free host name: http://dyn.com/dns/dyndns-pro-free-trial/
  8. I believe its still free, you just have to cancel your free trial in which you can only keep 1 free domain name

I am surprised that you are saying this coming from a company who makes some of the best commercial grade surveillance equipment in the market. Those words you just spoke should be blasphemy at your company

My quest on getting a PTZ up and Running

On your PC, if you have speed control on your PC PTZ controls, Be sure to turn up the speed all the way to see if that will make it control it. I have noticed that on some controllers or DVR's, this particular PTZ will not be controlled unless you have the speed turned up all the way or past a certain value, while on others, it doesnt even matter. I dont know why this is.

My quest on getting a PTZ up and Running

Yep, I just looked it up online and it looks like the same thing. Is this what one of yours looks like with an outdoor fanned enclosure?: and here is just the camera module: Yes that is a Hitron manufactured PTZ. Not a bad little jewel eh? Good design too I think.

  16. Milestone is detecting my IP camera as an Onvif Conformant device. However, when I try to connect to that camera, the whole darn program crashes, every single time. Anyone else have this problem with Milestone?
  17. Yeah this is the main thing I see between a standard TV and a "good" cctv monitor. The CCTV monitors are built like haus'es
  18. Its just up to you. The image will look better at D1 but if you are satisfied with CIF then go for it. I always recommend D1 over CIF, even if it means lowering frame rate. Increasing frame rate does not increase resolution, it just increases, well, the frame rate. In some instances, where your camera is zoomed in on a real specific area, it may be okay to do CIF but usually for normal wide angle shots, D1 is recommended. You can do a comparison shot where you can record at CIF for a couple of minutes and then switch the D1 for a couple of minutes, the you can play it back and see when it switches and you can determine if its that much of a difference and feel free to record at your desired resolution.
  19. D1 will always look better, even in the Samsungs case. the pixel count for the samsung is bigger than CIF so you are still better off with D1
  20. If you are using hughes net, you must upgrade to their more expensive static IP service to make this work. Keep that in mind.
