Recommendation for a PTZ less that $800

CNB has a great PTZ for under that price.

    Pelco DVR

I dont know about that series Pelco DVR, but I bought one one time thinking it was going to be awesome since it was a Pelco, and it really was big time lame. Pelco cameras are really great, but their DVR's are not very good and I have had several people agree with me on this. They dont manufacturer their DVR's like they do some of their other products.
  3. Wow, thats a first, usually its the other way around. Yeah I agree, its gotta be some type of interferance from somewhere. That PTZ is a good one too so I dont think its that thats the problem.

    Help: 24VAC to 12VDC?

Yeah, ditch the 12V DC power supply, you cant make it work like that efficiently. Just go get you a cheap transformer, they are less than $15.
  5. No playback on cell phones yet. It will help out the resolution alot on the BNC output. The reason why your other brands look good on BNC is probably because they are shooting out 480p on all 3 outputs (BNC, HDMI, and VGA) while the Dahua's are actually shooting out HD output on all 3 outputs. It definetely will not hurt it, but it will not be as HD when you lower the resolution. It will still look better than the BNC output no matter what the resolution. If your other DVR's look the same on BNC, VGA, and HDMI, then the VGA and HDMI configuration that they are using is not very good.

    Help: 24VAC to 12VDC?

you cant use a converter. Just get a 24 VAC transformer strong enough to power the 2. Probably 40 VA would be good enough.
  7. Yeah, I dont think he has done the steps I described above yet which greatly helps the problem. Also, Whenever you go into the TV adjust section, be sure to hit the default button first and then adjust your TV as necessary. So: #1) Go to main menu>Setting>Display>lower resolution to lowest setting possible #2) Go to main menu> Advanced > TV adjust > Hit default > adjust as necessary
  8. Yes that is correct, its because the hard drive IS full. Even though your hard drive is in overwrite, it is still full. Its just in a constant state of fullness. Constantly out with the old and in with the new and is maintaning a constant state of "fullness". If you want to dissable the PSS notification, go into your DVR's Menu>Advanced>Abnormality>Select Disk Full>Uncheck enable
  9. Yeah thats correct, BNC output is bad compared to VGA or HDMI. But the only real difference is shown on the menu screens. The Video feeds should look not quite as good, but almost as good as VGA or HDMI. Its the menu screens that look significantly different, main reason is because they are set for a higher resolution than 480p. But you cant really expect it to look as good as VGA or HDMI in the first place really. To help, you will want to lower the resolution in the DVR to the lowest setting in order to get optimal picture for BNC out, if you havent done that already, that should help quite a bit. Also you need to go into advanced>TV Adjust and adjust the TV settings to get the best quality for BNC out. You can play with the margins and color settings and that should improve the picture. That should help but definetely wont look as good as the VGA or BNC output and I agree you have a legitimate gripe, the Dahua's look great on HDMI or VGA but just dont look very good on BNC output. Thats why I only recommend using BNC output as a temporary option.
  10. From Precision Optical Imaging?
  11. Those are crazy expensive from where I have looked. Any recommendations on where I can get one for a decent price?

    Milestone Crashes

Yeah I couldnt get the RTSP thing to work either. Perhaps I am doing something wrong though, but should'nt this open platform software allow you to put a full RTSP string in there?
  13. Normally, if your HTTP port is 80, you usually dont have to put the port # after it. Only when its different than 80 is when you have to.
  14. Perhaps what Tom said, your RCA cable may be bad, I dont know? That is unusual. You may try getting a new cable, they are cheap. Run to Radio Shack and get an RCA cable and ask them for an RCA female to BNC male adapter. Or updgrade the DVR

    Staying in B/W mode

I would start by defaulting the whole thing back to factory default and then tweak your settings. Usually, if you reset it to factory default, it will pop it out of B/W mode. Be sure to do this during the daytime when there is plenty of light.
  16. Oh, I didnt think about that. I forgot about the new PPTZ camera Plasma Pan Tilt Zoom.
  17. Oh okay, I see. Well that is wierd. Your RCA cable must be getting some interference from the Coax whenever it is plugged in. Does your DVR not have an HDMI or VGA output instead that you can output to, those usually have better picture quality anyways.
  18. 3.6 Amps is some juicy amperage for one camera. I have never seen one that high. Is it a PTZ with IR on it?
  19. I guess I want to know why you are hooking the DVR up to the Coax input on the TV if you got it working just fine on the RCA input? Why not just leave it in the RCA input Yes that is correct, If you want to connect it to the TV's coax input. You have to get a Modulator. You cannot hook it straight into the Coax input. You have to put a modulator between the DVR and the TV's Coax input.
  20. Dont use the TV's coax input. Use the TV's rca input. If you want to use the coax input, you have to use a modulator which turns your dvr into a tv channel

    Anyone use this q-see camera....

Yeah some of the ones without IR filters still look pretty good. Some of the processors today can process the colors really good even without a IR filter, The Effio for example is one of them. But whenever you compare the Effio with no TDN, to an Effio with TDN, the difference is noticeable (the one with IR cut is a TDN:

    Anyone use this q-see camera....

Most TDN's will still switch from Color to B/W at night. The difference with a TDN is you get more true colors during the day because it is blocking out the IR. Its during the day time where a TDN comes in handy

    Which Hard Drive?

Most of the newer hard drives are extremely quiet. other than the occasional click, I dont see how anyone could hear it unless they were right by it.
