Q-See QC444 DVR Motion Detection Setup
SEANHAWG replied to shaywood's topic in Digital Video Recorders
LOL, I dont know why Dahua just doesnt hire him as much programming as he knows about these things. Check out his front panel remote control thingamabob which basically gives you full control of the front panel of the DVR from a remote computer. Its crazy. -
Milestone Crashes
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It has an RTSP string but thats really not full compatibility if you ask me. But I didnt even see an RTSP option in Milestone anyways. I've messed around alittle with the universal driver but could not get it to work. Does the universal driver use RTSP? -

It does not have the traditional 9 pin RS-232 port on it, but it does have RX and TX inputs on the back and you can jimmy rig an RS-232 connector to it to hard flash the board to do adjust the firmware. Basically this process is only done at the factory. I'll assume that alot of other cameras have this ability to but you have never had to to do it. Normally, you would just go into the web viewer interface or the utility tool to upgrade the firmware but I was given the wrong method/firmware combo to upgrade the latest firmware and I bricked it. The firmware I was given was kind of a beta at the time and I should have uploaded it via another port, blah blah blah, dont want to go into the whole story. But yes, it is Onvif. No its not on the compatibility list, other than being Onvif. Its a Dahua to be exact. One I've started to mess around with again. Good image quality and everything, just messing around to see what its compatible with. So far I've tested it on NUUO and works like a charm. Supposed to work with Genetec too but havent tested that. Man this incompatibility bull crap with IP cameras sucks. I love MP cameras, but one brand dont work with this, and if it does work, you will have limited this and that. Surely Onvif will start to catch on more. What do you guys think. I have used Aver cameras, Dahua, Vivotek, Acti, and Hikvision and it seems like one will work great with one platform but will not work good or at all on another. -
Milestone Crashes
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I upgraded the IP camera the wrong method apparently, using the wrong port. So it just rebooted constantly (bricked). I had to get old school and get an RS-232 connector and flash it to the board. learned alot about rs-232 connectors during this time. -
Milestone Crashes
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yeah I just finished a 2 week ordeal of trying to hard flash an IP camera that I bricked by upgrading the wrong way. Anyways, I finally got it unbricked. I got it to work on NUUO, but Milestone crashed. I tried to download Avigilon free trial but I guess I gotta call for that. I just find it odd that Milestone would just crash as opposed to just sending me an error or just something like "cant connect". The whole program crashes. -
People knowing you have CCTV does not encourage them to burglarize, it only deters so its not like this would be detrimental. I pick up alot of business on other forums with my business signature. Bass Fishing forums, website design forums, etc have all gotten me business. But thats my prerogative and not yours and I respect that. But here is the problem, you came on here complaining about not being able to find prices online about Avigilon products, which I can see your point somewhat. But here is what diminishes your credibility: You complain about Avigilon keeping pricing a secret, yet you cant disclose what your business is but yet you have no problem flaunting that you own a Ferrari, your company grossed a quarter billion last year, and your home install will account for Avigilon UK's .5% of total sales last year. And whats even funnier is that you made all this money, enough to buy a Ferrari, yet you are going to install a high end system yourself. I am not saying this is the case on this one, but nine times out of 10, when someone talks big like this, they are usually full of:
-
Yeah I know, but what is the name of your business. Take me 4 example: I am sean, the owner of nellys surplus. Your turn.
-
I do somewhat see your point in this discussion, although like I said before, Avigilons business model is working great for them so I dont blame them to keep doing what they are doing. But since you do not like keeping secrets, let us know what your business is and what you do. If its that big of a company, its not much of a secret anyways. Just curious as I like to know about successful business owners.

The business model seems to be working quite well for Avigilon. They just made it on Security Top 50 list this year @ 46: http://www.asmag.com/security50/Rankings.aspx And was #1 as far as revenue growth: http://www.asmag.com/security50/index.aspx But all they have to do is sell one or 2 cameras to get on that list Sorry I had to. I think their business model works out quite well for them. I dont see them changing it anytime in the future. As they get more popular, you may start to see a slip up and get a price somewhere online but I doubt that you will ever be able to purchase them online, unless you are buying a used model.
-
I wondered that too. I thought that for the longest time until Qvis told me all I have to do is put it on compatibility view and it takes care of it.
-
I got it to work on 2.606, you just have to switch to compatibility view.
-
Its not really a software per se. Its an active X control that loads whenever you type in the IP address into Internet Explorer. Its built into the DVR.
-
You would definetely need the user name and password. As long as its not the 888888 username and password, Its usually the same that you login to from the DVR
-
It is not Dahua. I have not tried it yet and have no experience with it. I think it may be a PC based Hybrid.
-
Thanks Tom. I have a couple of more adapters on order to see if that will work. If not, I will let you know.

I think the thing to focus on in this scenario is the optics that are used on the camera and it they are strong enough to view in on the area where the perp would be walking. With Analog, you cant get a camera to cover a real wide area and also have detailed face shots at the same time in most circumstances. If you want detail shots, then you need to dedicate that camera to that specific purpose and position the camera and zoom in the lens to a choke point where the perp would be walking.

Multiplexer Question
SEANHAWG replied to SectorSecurity's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The main reason they are used for is to record multiple cameras on one tape. You use it in conjunction with a VCR. That is what people used before DVR's came on the scene. They can also be used for the simple purpose of showing multiple cameras up on one screen at a time for monitoring purposes. -
Yeah, but I dont know how so I am just saying that as a disclaimer to anyone who mistakenly decides to upgrade their Zeus with this firmware, its not going to be able to be changed back. In otherwords, dont upgrade your Zeus with this firmware.
-
I will add that if u brick a zeus, there is no way to flash it as there is no rs232 port on it.

The android app has saved views. They r making an iphona app that is supposed to be like the gdmss app. There is even a newer android app that came out a month ago that you save multiple views. They say they will have an Iphone app just like it in a month. Apparently the android API is alot easier to work with than the Iphone API for developers.

Its usually by calling up a certain preset number which is defined by the maker of your camera. There is no menu button on PTZ controls. You may check in the GVI manual to see which preset needs to be called up to bring up the OSD menu.

I think I know which one you are talking about. For educational purposes only, I am going to show the link to help protect buyers in the future. This is why you should never buy from an untrusted source. The Title says DaHua DH-DVR1604LE-A, but if you go down and look at the first words in the description, its says DVR0404LE-A which is a 4 channel: http://www.liaow.com/proinf.asp?procode=dh16lea Hopefully the mods will let this one fly because of educational purposes Yeah in some areas, it says 16 channel, in other areas, it gives a 4 channel model number. The question is, which one do you believe? Do you beleive its a simple typo or ........ Its just tough to tell. Trust me, I have been down this road many times. The thing is you are protected by Paypal and you can get a refund, the problem is in order to do that, you would have to ship the whole unit back to China in order to get your money back, which would cost you an arm and a leg. Paypal will not give you a refund until you have shipped the unit back to the supplier and they have proof that you did with a tracking number. Trackable mailing service from the USA to China is going to cost alot. It may be a good deal, but just know that its a risk that you may not get the item that you thought you bought.
-
PM me the link. I can check for you if its an LE-A. Sometimes those listings on Alibaba and sites like that are deceiving. Alot of the times, the seller knows nothing about the product. What may be listed as an LE-A, may come out to be an LE-AS after all.
-
Yeah thats the only way to connect with it through the blackberry
-
That is correct
