    system questions

The apollo has more crisp less compressed recordings and it also has an HDMI output. Depending on how many channels you need, it also supports more audio in the 4 and 8 channel versions. With that being said, the Zeus is still a good one if you are on a budget.

    Oldie but a goodie!

What protocol does it use? If it uses Pelco D or P, you can use it on a DVR no doubt. Does it use a proprietary controller that came with the camera? Does it use an RS-485 connection or a multi pin connection. If it uses a multi pin connection and as long as the connections are labeled "Pan" "Tilt" "Left" "Right" "Up" "down" then you can use a little decoder board to make it an RS-485 connection to use with your DVR.

    Oldie but a goodie!

you should be able to control it with a DVR if it uses Pelco D or P protocol
  5. Amperage problem. The PTZ draws more amperage during times of activity causing the issues. What kind of power supplies are you using: Voltage and amperage please.
  6. Yes that would work but you still need a device that will make the 4 cameras sequence. Please see my suggestion that I emailed you about the quad processor. That is the cheapest and easiest way to do it.

Thats cool and in good shape. THose things cost alot new.
  8. Please don't expect effefective ir to 200 feet on any camera with built in ir. It may shine to 200 feet but it is very ineffective at that distance. Expect maybe 75 to 100 feet at the most but that's even stretching it.

Best 4 channel DVR Help me

Most cell phone apps only allow for live viewing. They are just not robust enough to do things to fully control your DVR. However, the remote viewing from a computer should allow you to adjust the settings.

An-Tone DVR , cant find software.

    Whats your problem dude?

A monitor with an RJ-11 connector????

Yes we can! Your better of dumping that monitor in the trash. That is a proprietary monitor to a specific camera. They used to do that alot back in the day with box systems. We have used 23" HDTV 720p flat screen TV's that will make a great monitor. Also we have used cameras and we can meet your budget for both. Drop me a PM if interested.

    IP CAM?

Aver supports tons of IP cameras but Tom is right, some firmwares support more than others. You can easily go into the GUI and search all of the supported IP cameras under the IP camera list.

    Ip Encoders

Technically speaking, it should be the other way around. Some do and some dont. If you are getting worse live video through a DVR as opposed to running it directly to a monitor, then that kind of DVR sucks. Most good DVR's will simply "pipe through" the live feed to the TV and it shouldnt look hardly any different at all as opposed to running a cable from the camera right into the monitor. It all depends on what type of output you are using too. Most DVR's made today have HDMI or VGA outputs. Some DVR's have sucky output through the composite but brilliant output through VGA or HDMI. But like I said, the encoders are not going to magically enhance the live video, actually they degrade it. If anything, the live video should look better on a DVR as opposed to putting it through an encoder because the live video is not as compressed as what the live video of the camera with an encoder is. But live display doesnt really mean jack in the end. Its really the recorded video what count when all said and done.

    Best DVR Help me Please

The Aver is a hybrid, the Qvis is an analog only. 2 different animals.

    Interlace images

Probably the camera is bad and sending bad signals up to the DVR through the coax. Or some ground loop issue. something to that effect. We had the same problem and it was a camera that kept going out on us and it occasionally would show on another channel and also restart the DVR. As soon as I unplugged the camera, all was well.

    Best DVR Help me Please

Hi, Qvis does have a full D1 unit as a 4 channel, however we do not carry it because for a couple hundred bucks more you can get the 16 channel unit. However, we can get it for you if you need it. One question though is, do you really need full D1 for a 4 channel DVR? Most of the time 7 FPS will be just fine. Unless you have the specific need for full D1, you can go with the regular Apollo HD and save hundreds of dollars and still get the same video quality, just at a lesser frame rate. As far as comparing to monoprices, I have never used their DVR's so I cant attest to how they are, but just because two DVR's have the same exact specs does not mean they have the same quality. Things you have to look for are features, quality of the GUI, and video recording compression. As far as the Aver's go, we carry them as well but just arent listed on our website. They are great little boogers if you plan on upgrading to IP someday. But if you are just sticking to analog, I would choose the Qvis.

    Ip Encoders

Send me your best "Aschmigilon" encoder and if you want send me your best analog camera, and/or I will use my best camera and I will post snapshots of what the encoder puts out and what a Dahua DVR puts out. I guarantee they will be the same. Maybe even Dahua might be better, OH SNAP! I'll pay for return shipping of the encoder if you ship it to me.

    Ip Encoders

Yeah if you are talking about hybrid systems and system design flexibility, I agree. But if we are talking about a guy just wanting a few analog cameras and no IP cameras, then it would be kind of tarded' to run them all on encoders with an NVR software. Not to mention it would be alot more expensive that way. Basically, all a DVR is is a glorified encoder anyways. Its not like an IP encoder will magically make the video of the analog camera better than a DVR would which was what the original question was asked. I would highly doubt that the images that you posted above will look any better on an IP encoder. Chances are, your DVR is using the same technology that an encoder uses to compress the video.
  24. SEANHAWG

    Ip Encoders

You can control the bit rate with DVR's as well. Encoders and DVR's use the same principle so no you wont really get better quality from encoders. It just all depends on the equipment being used. Just like DVR's, some encoders compress more than others. But if you are comparing a good encoder to a good DVR, then the difference is not noticeable. The only logical reason to use encoders is if you want existing analog cameras to be incorporated into your NVR software alongside IP cameras. But if you are using all analog cameras, it would be ludicrous to use encoders just for that purpose.
