Question about 24V Power Supply
SEANHAWG replied to troy6363's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
It all depends on the amperage that the power supply is able to output. The transformers I recommended to him will power both housing and camera. Some lower amped power supplies will have the problem that you stated. -
I know. Did you also go through the countless pages of cross promotion products that they offered during checkout?

dauha dvr Transfer Mode, firmware upgrade, MAC ADDR, Reboot?
SEANHAWG replied to jokerone's topic in General Digital Discussion
As rory stated earlier, this firmware may not suitable for some Dahua models. In a matter of fact, it will actually brick some models so be sure to ask before you upgrade. -

Has anyone had luck with the Aver Nano connecting to cameras using Onvif Protocol?

Question about 24V Power Supply
SEANHAWG replied to troy6363's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi, I got your email, not sure if you got my reply. You can use the 2 24 VAC transformers that i showed you or you can use a power box. The price wise there isnt much difference, but size wise the 2 transformers are smaller. If you plan on expanding, you can go with a power box. If you will just need these 2 cameras and no plans for expansion, then go with the 2 transformers. -

Please let me know if it works for IP cam viewer on the Iphone for Dahua. Last time I checked a couple of weeks ago, IP cam viewer was not even available for the Iphone. I am pretty sure IP Cam viewer lite is not available, but hopefully I am wrong. Hopefully we are talking about the same app. Let me know if you find out anything. on the Android app, there is a place that allows you to choose Dahua as the DVR. You can double tap any of the squares to enlarge the picture with iDMSS but if the substream is set at QCIF, its going to look grainy on your Hi-Rez Iphone. I recommend using CIF as your substream so you get higher quality video. But I do see your points. I am sure it wont be long before Dahua comes out with a 9 square app soon once 4G becomes standard.

With Android, there is a 3rd party app called "IP Cam Viewer Lite" that allows this. Its pretty cool but I still find myself using the gDMSS App more because of the problems I state below. I dont know of any with Iphone. But I dont think it has come up before because its not that much of a deal breaker for most people. Heck, most of the time, folks are just happy to get one camera up on the screen, much less 4. The problem with going over 4 cameras is as Rory stated, its too small to view on a little cell phone screen. With a 9 square view, its pretty difficult. With 16 square view, thats just crazy. I believe with iDMSS if you install it on an iPad, it will allow 9 square viewing but I cant confirm because I dont have an iPad but I am pretty sure it does. The other problem is when you are trying to view more than 4 video streams on your little 3g cell phone with constantly changing signal strengths, you may have bandwidth issues and the video starts to lag with that many video streams where it kind of becomes pointless. I sometimes even notice this with just a 4 square view when the signal strength is low. You could reduce the quality down to Qcif at 1 FPS to help out but thats kind of lame to do that.

your video is still converting but if its anything like your old video, its the lens choice that is your problem. With analog cameras you are not going to get detailed closeup shots of license plates and such without dedicating a camera just for that purpose. And if you want something for that purpose, you need something stronger than a 4mm lens.

I would not do it. Dahua does not recommend it, I have asked them.

On a related note, is it fairly common that IP cameras can record directly to a NAS without any NVR software running on a nearby PC in the same network? I have heard that Mobotix can do this but was not sure if this is fairly common across brands or a feature that should be had on all IP cameras. What I am trying to achieve is have an IP camera record the video data directly to a NAS and if/whenever I want to view the recorded video, I would get a Laptop with installed NVR software and would want to be able to connect to the NAS (database of recorded video) whether it be from within the local network or from a remote location with that said PC. And I would want the recording search to be flawless. And the thing is, I would want the NAS to be recording where a PC would not have to be running all the time within the local network of the NAS.

looks kewl but i bet the software is funky.

I think you may be expecting to much with that lens. if you are expecting specific details, I would consider getting a bigger lens like a previous poster stated. You will lose width of view when you do this but with Analog, you will need some cameras designated as wide viewing cameras and other cameras designated as zoomed in detailed cameras.

The difference is noticeable when compared to a Sony 1/3" CCD. The Sony's are better.

You beat me to it. I was going to post the same picture.
