FOSCAM Security Wireless IP Camera help
SEANHAWG replied to madmanuk's topic in General Digital Discussion
No, the foscam is an IP camera and DVR's can only record analog cameras. -
As long as its not dealer pricing, I think its okay to specify retail pricing as long as you dont provide a link

If you have warranty issues on dealing with one product that you buy overseas. The return shipping costs will cost more than the whole unit on average.

Western Digital AV HDDs, serious problems
SEANHAWG replied to vadimo's topic in General Digital Discussion
I dont understand why their 500gb and 1tb versions are 5900 RPM. They should be 7200. Perhaps that could be one reason why you are noticing some problems. With that being said, I have never had that problem with them in the Dahua Standalones like u reported, but have only used a few of those hard-drives before. I prefer Seagate SV, It is the Surveillance HD made by Seagate. Never had any problems at all with theirs. 500 and 1TB come in 7200 RPM, 2TB is 5900 RPM. The thing is they have tripled in pricing because of the Thailand flood. -

Can you run the Dahua Mac software off of a usb thumbdrive?
SEANHAWG replied to lowpro's topic in Digital Video Recorders
as of this point. it works on mac 10.6 and Rory is right, it has to be installed. It cannot be a "run type" program. -
ultrak kdsa00n1 control compatability
SEANHAWG replied to lancersdad's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
never done it like that. Just used the traditional 2 comm wires. The protocols should be taped with a sticker on the side of the camera. -
I am testing out an IP camera on my home network. I am new to IP cams but I assume they work similar to how a DVR hooked up the internet works. I can view it great over my local network but of course I cant view it over the internet. I have hughes net here at home. I checked my netgear routers WAN IP and it looks more like a local IP: 192.168.0.6: This is a little different to me as I am used to how my network works at my office. I know this is different than the network I have at my office at work because the WAN IP for my router there looks like an actual public WAN IP. I have no problem getting things working over the internet there. But my problem now lies here at home network. But as far as my home network goes.I assume the answer to this problem is to bridge my hughes net modem to my router, because if I do this, I will have a public IP shown up on my routers WAN IP. The only problem is that calling Hughes Net support is about the last thing I want to do. I also heard that the only way to get the modem bridged with Hughes net is to purchase a static IP which is more money that I would have to pay them. My question is, is there any other ways I can access my IP camera from the internet other than bridging my modem.

The Story: We had our old dishwasher listed on craigslist, a guy called us up to buy it. So he comes here and actually does pay $100 for the old dishwasher. He was taking forever to tie up the dishwasher in his truck and my kids were fighting inside so I go into to deal with them. The guy was a super nice guy and I wasnt thinking anything of it that he would actually steal something out of my garage but yep he did. I was wondering why he was taking so long so I go into room where the DVR is located to take a look at the monitor, as soon as I go in there, I see him get in his truck and leave. At this time, I didnt know that he stole it, I had just walked in my room after that. It wasnt until the next day that I had found out that my stroller was gone. The good thing is that I got his cell phone and home phone and I turned the video into the cops. Probably not expecting to get the stroller back but hopefully the guy will get some type of charges pressed. That was a darn expensive stroller too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAcSzWCzujo

It doesnt appear that the image quality is that incredibly bad. The problem is, those pictures are not in full resolution.
-
Man, what kind of freaky livestock do you Canadians have?
-
Thats not full resolution bro. If it was full rez, it would be huge and would not fit on the computer screen once you click on it. Actually for a little Jpeg image, it doesnt look that bad.
-
Looked it up and couldnt find anything on it. It could be one of those "pay as you go" types that makes it easy to not be found.
-
Are you really surprised though? I wasnt. Not letting them off by any means but I was surprised that they even came out to my house that night to be honest. We do have an off duty case worker working on this for us as well as an attorney that has access to various tools that would help with something like this. One of his numbers he gave us was bogus, his cell # he never answers and it now appears to be disconnected.

Upload it to its true format. Do not convert it to any other format. Does it save it as an original bitmap file? If so, you can get those hosted for free at photobucket
-
you have to actually export the image out as a file
-
Looks like a Zack Morris camera
-
The pictures that you have labeled as full resolution do not appear to be 5MP

This brings up a question I have. I havent dealt a whole lot with CAT5 as we deal mainly with Siamese but just for kicks, I bought the cheapest baluns I could find on ebay and I cant tell any difference from the GEM high quality baluns that I have. Since this is such a small piece which basically converts a ground and video signal from 2 wires over to a BNC connection, does it really matter if they are high quality or not? Granted I dont want the things falling apart on me but as long as they dont do that, whats the real difference in high quality baluns compared to low cost ghetto baluns? I mean sure, one might use higher quality metal than the other but does the quality of metal really mater on such a small piece such as that. I would ASSume that the quality of metal should be payed more attention in the cable being used. What are your thoughts?

Cool, thanks for the input. I got an email sent to me the other day and just never heard of them before but thought it looked kind of interesting.
