About the only time you see built in Audio on an analog camera, its usually a cheap ghetto model. Most of the better cameras do not have audio. Reason being is its illegal in some scenarios to have audio recordings so that is why they dont sell them with it. If you want audio, you will have to get seperate microphones.

qvis Apollo DVR "UNAVAILABLE" message
SEANHAWG replied to MikeInTampa's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi Mike, I sent you an email, not sure if you got it. Its probably just a resolution mismatch between your DVR and your TV. Plug one of those RCA cable that I emailed you about from the DVR to your TV just so you can get a picture, then you will be able to see the menu where you can adjust the resolution. Lower the resolution output on the DVR until your TV picks it up with an HDMI connection. What you can do during this time is have 2 connections at one time during this time. One with RCA cable and the other with the HDMI. With the RCA cable, you do not have to worry about resolution mismatches but you do not want to use the RCA connection all the time because it does not offer the best resolution, you are only using the RCA cable for a temporary time to adjust the resolution until your TV picks it up with the HDMI cable. So what you do is use the RCA cable to adjust the resolution, and then switch the input on your TV to HDMI to see if it picks it up, if it didnt, then lower the resolution output on the DVR another notch and then switch it over to HDMI to see if it picked up that resolution. Just keep in mind that each time you change the resolution the DVR must re-start. Whenever you get that RCA cable: To adjust the resolution output on your DVR. Go to Main Menu>Settings>Display. My guess is that your TV should pick up a resolution of 1280x720 or 1024x768 As far as VGA, your TV should be able to "auto-detect" the output resolution of the DVR and adjust accordingly but I have seen some TV's that do not. What you can try is to see if your TV has a auto-configure setting to detect any incoming signal through the VGA port. Sometimes you have to "tell" the TV to do this. But ideally you will want to use the HDMI connection so I would go through the troubleshooting methods that I described above first. -
not their Analog cameras. With analog, you have to get seperate equipment. You may be able to find an IP camera with 2 way audio.

Best DVR for security cameras. AverMedia or Digimerge?
SEANHAWG replied to tsc757's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The Aver 4 Nano is a great little hybrid DVR. Extremely simple to use and well thought out GUI. If you are wanting a small 4 ch Hybrid, I wouldnt recommend anything else. never used their cards. Apples to apples, the nano beats anything out there when you are talking low budget IP/hybrid systems. If you were going all analog, then go with Dahua manufactured. -
Best DVR for security cameras. AverMedia or Digimerge?
SEANHAWG replied to tsc757's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The Nano has more support for IP cameras than any other Hybrid I have seen. For those cameras that you seen on the list, all you need to do is put them inside a housing to make them weatherproof for your climate. All in all, you would have saved money going with the Nano and it would have been less headache. I sell Dahua analog DVR's, but when it comes to Hybrids, I would prefer the Nano over Dahua. Much more supported IP cameras. If you are wanting to go Analog only, go with Dahua. -
How to connect CNB VBM-24VF to BNC Cable?
SEANHAWG replied to MikeInTampa's topic in Security Cameras
No special way of doing it, you just basically hard wire the wires directly into the 2 inputs on that green thing. -
From my firsthand experience: If you want full internet implementation with your surveillance equipment, ditch HughesNet. I did it and was one of the best decisions ever made.

I bought that same decoder that I showed you. It said it was going to ship from China but they actually shipped it out of california. Yes the dip switches are for various protocols. And the cool thing is it also has a power converted on it too which converts 24 VAC to 12V DC, not that you would ever need that but if so its there.
-
Yeah I bought a Foscam Pan/Tilt a while back. The picture is not that great but cant expect much for an $85 pan/tilt IP camera. Other than that, its not a bad deal. If you are using this for theft purposes, I would recommend getting something else, but if you are just wanting to keep an eye on something like that cats like the previous poster said, it works just fine for purposes like that.
-
For the price you cant beat it. We have used it to control many a zoom lens that I have purchased off of ebay as well. You can find some sweet deals on zoom lenses on eBay I tell ya.
-
I was looking at the back of the camera and it has external Zoom and Focus inputs in case you wanted to use this with a Pan/Tilt head. You can get a CCTV decoder board which adapts the voltages to an RS-485 connection so you would be able to use it with your Avtech. Something like this: You can pick up on ebay for $22

I would bet what you have is not a DVR. I'll bet its a quad processor or a multiplexer.
-
I think you see the regular Apollo HD. The Apollo HD Pro does D1 on all channels 30 fps per channel.
-
Because at slow shutter speeds you tend to get some motion blur on fast moving objects. On most applications that camera would be fine but on some it would not such as trying to capture moving vehicles and such. Nonetheless, its still a great looking image compared to other cameras I have seen with the same type of shutter settings.

oh yeah, your right. Dang. I agree that Mintron looks excellent. The only thing about those CNB's is they dont switch to B/W very easily. I would bet that picture would be alot less noisy if it was in B/W mode. II would bet that since its not in B/W mode that the IR filter hasnt slid out of the way either which makes it look even more poor. I have some cameras that switch to B/W actually too easy and I have to turn the Day/Night setting almost all the way down to prevent it. Sometimes with CNB, you have to turn the Day/Night all the way up to make it switch and that even isnt enough sometimes.
-
Are you sure? It appears the light for the garage is on on the CNB pic and the Mintron is obviously not.
-
How did you come across that Mintron camera? I cant find them available for sell anywhere.
-
Its because you record at HD1 and your full size images are blown up to scale. You would probably get more sharper images if you used D1 recording. If that is D1 image then maybe your DVR over-compresses.

Highest Res and Quality From 8 Camera System Under $5,000?
SEANHAWG replied to SmallBusinessUser's topic in System Design
I tested this chart on my Acti IP 4201 Camera which was set at 640x480 over the weekend and it didnt come anywhere close to the quality of the Analog picture I posted. To be fair, I even moved the picture closer to the camera to account for the 640 cropped horizontal pixels and it didnt really matter. Holy compression! I just got this Acti in the other day and once I find out how to post screen shots I will but it didnt look good. I realize this is not one of the best out IP cams out there. But the point has been made that Analog doesnt give out an exact 720x480 image. Until I am proven wrong by an image of an IP camera set at 720x480, I will have to say that the same is true with IP. Guily until proven innocent. -
Samsung cameras for the most part are pretty high quality and produce good images. Mostly all Korean made. It seems that perhaps it was just this camera type or your particular scenario or a combination of the both that was causing the issues. Sorry to hear about the bad experience nonetheless.

Highest Res and Quality From 8 Camera System Under $5,000?
SEANHAWG replied to SmallBusinessUser's topic in System Design
Cant you adjust the cameras output to D1 or VGA? Dont most IP cameras have an option to lower the resolution settings for bandwidth issues? I appreciate the megapixel images, but in order to correctly test those, we would need a correctly sized chart instead of a 720x480 chart. For example, your 2MP image that you just posted would need a chart the size of 1920 x 1080 to correctly test or wherever abouts the image output resolution the camera is set at. I would hope the a 2MP camera can see the lines of a 720x480 image -

Highest Res and Quality From 8 Camera System Under $5,000?
SEANHAWG replied to SmallBusinessUser's topic in System Design
buh buh buh but Avigilon says that it its exported at 720x480 resolution so why isnt it producing a D1 image. Could it be that the holy grail of Surveillance companies are a bunch of liars when it comes to their specifications? Or maybe we should we call them up and ask them to change that spec to "D1 give or take a few pixels" or "almost D1 but not quite" Of course I am being sarcastic when I say this and I had to reply to your post "I think your starting to figure it out" with a friendly jab right back at you. But it does bring up a point. After I did my test, I think my test passed the horizontal resolution test but failed the vertical test so I agree that it wasnt a full certified D1 image so there is no doubting that, but it was pretty darn close to D1 and not far off by any means. So what should these DVR manufacturers (and encoder manufacturers) call this specification? I still want to see what a D1 IP camera looks like on this test. My guess is that it will probably look better than an analog camera due to being purely digital but I'll bet that its not significant. But I'd like to see one just in case so lets see one. And when we do this test, can we not put a 5mp image and compare it to a 480p analog image. Thats like comparing a Ferrari to a Civic I think its pretty well agreed that a megapixel image is better than an analog image so there is no reason to beat that dead horse anymore.
