I probably wouldnt go with Monoprice cameras. If you plan on buying that robust of a DVR, get some good brand name cameras to go with it that have a proven track record. Like Rory said, if you do go CNB, make sure it has the Monalisa chip in it and you wont be dissappointed.

Its best to call the manufacturer and have them put you in contact with a distributor

Camera Comparison Tests: Ultrak, Pelco, Samsung, CNB, Effio

Sorry, we have had a period of "slamness" for the past few weeks. I'll try to get around to it soon. -
Q-see has a few different manufacturer that they have manufacture for them. Dahua has a budget 4 channel model that they make for Q-see but I dont think they make any of their high-end models for them.

Hybrid DVR's Recording Resolution
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the info on the PC based programs. That makes alot of sense. And yes, I am looking for something very easy for my customers to setup. HDCCTV has crossed my mind but at the time being its alot more expensive than comparable IP equipment and its limited to 1080p. Not to say I wont ever carry it but until the price comes down it just makes alot more sense to buy IP at the time being. Got a while before I even start to think about carrying something like this though so all this info is good stuff. -
The cell phone usually has its own port. Are you sure you have that particular port forwarded and is it open?

dahua stand alone dvr weard problem
SEANHAWG replied to plasrobin's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Your ports are not open. Go to the same network that your DVR is in and go to the website canyouseeme.org and check to see if your ports are open. They are more than likely being blocked. -
His first question was that he has a Qvis DVR but now needs recommendations on cameras. Not sure why it was edited to be erased.

Hybrid DVR's Recording Resolution
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
A system that is dedicated just to surveillance where no other programs can be installed on that device. For example, I would compare it to an embedded firmware standalone DVR as opposed to a PC that has a Geovision card installed in it. Whenever you boot up a standalone, its ready to go and goes right through to the DVR controls. Whenever you boot up a PC, it shows the window icon, and then goes to the main screen where you then have to start the program by cliking on the Icon to get it started and you can also run other programs such as email, browsers, etc. on it. Basically a PC with software and/or hardware installed on it. I found some more NVR's ad hybrids that can record in higher than 1080 after I initially wrote this thread but here are some that I was referring to with limited recording resolutions: Hybrids: Bosch DNR-732-08A200: 4CIF Ganz ZNR-H16-2TB: D1 Dahua DVR0404/0804/1604HE-T-4H: 1080p Avermedia EH1004H : 2MP NVR's: Dahua DH-NVR3216: 1080p Samsung SNR-3200-1000: D1 Aver EXR6004 Mini": 2-3MP on some channels - 5MP on last channel -

What one device are you using that would needed to be controlled by 2 DVR's? Or better yet, what exactly are you trying to do? -

Hybrid DVR's Recording Resolution
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thats what I was thinking too but almost every embedded standalone NVR or Hybrid either records in either D1 max or 1080P max. The only exception are NVR's that are PC based NVR's with pre-installed software (basically just a glorified PC). I was looking for a more embedded solution. But no biggie, I can do the software route. -

okay thanks for the input. -
I have not seen many that are available for purchase yet.

Yep, for little to no light, you will need some IR, and both of those cameras have IR. I would guess that the IR on that camera is good for about 20-30' so keep that in mind. You may need to install a few in order to get good coverage.

You may want to contact TomCCTV on this board. He knows alot about the Avermedia products and he is also from the UK. He could probably give you some good advice on both the product and installation.

store closing, buying their running system
SEANHAWG replied to raztraders's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The main thing we deal in is used equipment and have equipment that is 8 years old or more and running like a charm. We have a bunch of those Samsung SCC-131B cameras at our warehouse right now and they are fairly decent cameras. You can see I am using them in a camera comparison test that I havent updated in quite a while (sorry been too busy) I havent dealt with that DVR before but if its fairly old, you may want to consider upgrading as DVR's have made some advancements in the recent past. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26855&hilit=camera+comparison The main thing is just make sure its all working before you buy it and like others have said, make sure the DVR is not password locked. If you are doing the labor of un-installing everything, I would recommend getting the price down alot more, atleast to $1000. Otherwise, it may be a bargain if you could get it at $1500 already taken down. But its not a super bargain by any means. -
records HDMI input up to 720p. I was looking for standalone devices and they were like $1500-2000 and then I found this nifty booger for $120.

Anyone ever used these? I got one on order from Tiger Direct.

Why aren't there any 1080P DVR's yet?
SEANHAWG replied to blackjackel's topic in General Digital Discussion
I would say it would be determinate on the effective pixel count of the camera being used. For example if you are using a camera with an effective pixel count of 512x492 then of course you are not getting true D1 quality due to the weak link theory. But if you are using a camera with an effective pixel count of say 976x494, then I would say yes, the DVR is getting pretty close to playing back a true D1 720x480 or 704x480. If you think differently I would be interested in hearing why. -
Best selection Outdoor PTZ in theme park.
SEANHAWG replied to sovan's topic in General Digital Discussion
also, they usually test within a closed structure environment where there are walls around which helps with lighting reflection. You usually get less IR thrown in open areas. -
DVR Remote doesn't move cameras over iPhone...
SEANHAWG replied to rucanunes's topic in Computers/Networking
I got it to work too. Camera 3 is the PTZ right? It moved the PTZ just fine. All other cams were too dark to see. Is that an Icatch DVR? The web GUI looks very similar to one. -
