New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax
SEANHAWG replied to Megapixelman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If it still has to obtain an IP to get the 720p, then what would be the advantage of having this other than using existing coax cable which is already installed which is really not that big of an advantage. I think the HD-SDI boys main claim is that its just as easy to hook up as Analog but you still get Hi-Def. Even though its ridiculously expensive to do so. -
I want to do that but loathe at the fact of re-installing not only my programs but all the drivers for everything. I fear that there is something that will get lost along the way.

D1 @ 30fps, CBR... 2048k or 1536k bit rate? Big quality diff
SEANHAWG replied to Toaster's topic in General Digital Discussion
Good question. It is quote normal for DVR's to record at lower frame rates at higher resolutions. You will probably notice that the "stop and go" video is at a higher resolution than your CIF. You can get DVR's that record at D1 at full frame rate but the prices increase significantly for those types. -
Will do it after I throw some more ram at it and if the problem still exists I'll give you a shout. I ran chkdsk last night and started up my computer and about had conniption. Alot of my files appeared gone. Restarted computer, all good now. Phew!

Thanks for the tips. I am going to try to "throw more ram at it" to see if that helps. My computer has a 4gb capacity but only utilizes 2GB right now. Just ordered 4gb today. I use CCleaner and Malware Bytes on a regular basis and doesnt really seem to do jack squat. I'll probably look into getting a solid state drive here soon too.

dahua or qvis 16 channel dvr, anything else??

There are many brands in the US that are Dahua manufactured, but the Qvis's are the most cost effective and offer the best warranty. -
Recomandations Camera facing Light at night
SEANHAWG replied to vivid's topic in General Digital Discussion
I agree, the problem with your current setup is not the IR. The IR that the camera is putting out is not your problem. Its just the position that your camera is in, it would do the same thing without IR as well. -
how r u using computer and internet during power outages?

Camera Comparison Tests: Ultrak, Pelco, Samsung, CNB, Effio
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in Security Cameras
Alot of it had to do with me trying to wait till the sun came out to take a picture, also it was evening time which kind of does wierd color things on security cameras. Some of them may have had more sun than others so it may have not necessarily been a fair comparison for this test. -

Camera Comparison Tests: Ultrak, Pelco, Samsung, CNB, Effio
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in Security Cameras
All cameras are with vari-focal lenses. I adjusted and fully focused all of them to approximately have the same field of view. As you can see the difference between lower TVL and Higher TVL is quite noticeable on such a wide shot where there are several things in the field of view but I'll bet it will be less noticeable on smaller areas or more focused areas. -
Camera Comparison Tests: Ultrak, Pelco, Samsung, CNB, Effio
SEANHAWG replied to SEANHAWG's topic in Security Cameras
08/23/11 The first test here is not a real typical scenario that you would really see but I just wanted to hurry up and get things kicked off. This is just me shining the cameras right outside our warehouse. There are so many varying depths in this field of view so there was no real strategy to this test, I just wanted to get going. Just consider this an introductory post. I will do more real world scenarios in subsequent tests. As you can see the Pelco is missing in action because they have not arrived at our warehouse yet but I promise to include that one as soon as they come on my next test. I kept dealing with cloud cover but I tried to get an image everytime the sun poked through (I swear everytime I do a test like this it is always really cloudy) Anyways, here are the pics (you can see what camera it is by looking at the stamped title) (all cameras are in default settings): -
to troubleshoot and to see if its a cabling problem: Take a cable from a known working camera and plug that cable into the camera in question, if it works, then you know the other cable is bad.

HD1 is not the best rez on your DVR. D1 should be the best. HD1 stands for half D1 -

Maximum Recording up to 704x480, watching more than 704x480?
SEANHAWG replied to xico1984's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thanks Alex. Excuse my ignorance but what is this test testing? How would I test a camera with that diagram. Do you have an actual physical paper that I could shoot the camera at or should I shoot the camera right at the LCD screen on my computer. Or should I print off that diagram. Or am I missing the point totally. -
Test of an Effio-E Camera vs Sony HAD vs Sony Super HAD
SEANHAWG replied to nDAlk90's topic in Security Cameras
Thanks for the test, this is the kind of stuff that I think is pretty cool. I will have one similar test starting tomorrow, I was going to start today but my 24 VAC transformer blew. Actually I was going to start it yesterday but my laptop kept jacking up. This has been a very aggravating weekend. -

Maximum Recording up to 704x480, watching more than 704x480?
SEANHAWG replied to xico1984's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Sounds like a good idea. I am currently running a test right now between a few different cameras with different TV line ratings to see if I can notice any differences. I will post results on forum whenever I get them done. What did you have in mind? -

SEANHAWG replied to xico1984's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Yes that is the only thing about the new Effio-E cameras, on pretty much most DVR's that are currently out in the market, you will not be able to utilize the super high resolution for that camera. With most DVR, the max TV lines that will be recorded is 550 TVL and a pixel count of 704x480 or 720x480. Apparently, Dahua is making a DVR that can utilize and recognize the full high resolution qualities of these cameras but to be honest, I am not real sure how it works, anxious to see though. With that being said, the Effio-E is still a great chip and there is alot more qualities that are good about it other than its high resolution.
