  1. To make a long story short, since you are only hooking up 2 PTZ's. Simply twist your2 positive communication wires and stick them in the A port. twist your 2 negative communication wires and stick them in the B port. Now lets just say for giggles that you have your PTZ's on channels 5 and 6 of the DVR. And lets also assume that both cameras are using Pelco D protocol with 2400 Baud (it doesnt have to be this, we are just assuming for example purposes). This is how you would set each camera: Camera 5: Pelco D 2400 Baud Cam ID 001 Camera 6: Pelco D 2400 baud Cam ID 002 Make sure that both of your PTZ's have the same exact values as what your DVR is set at and your good to go. Those are the 3 crucial values. There are some other settings on the DVR that pertain to parity but just leave those at default settings.

I did a quick download and was able to connect with it via the Onvif driver. That is as far as I went with it though. I didnt dive into the program in depth.

    Digital zoom

Digital zoom is simply zooming in on pixels and blowing them up. With analog cameras, its not very effective.

    Auto tracking in action- video

Thats a juicy lookin camera right there.
  6. I agree, normally they dont look washed out like that but it was evening time and I have alot of sky in the view and its probably making the white balance act up a little bit. Most people would not have their camera in a position like this. If the cameras were at a higher location but pointed downwards more, the colors would be more vibrant. If you look at the video's of the CNB inside the living room, the colors are a little more true and not as hazy but still not as good looking as the IP camera. All 3 cameras were left at default settings too. But I promise you, your cameras would do the same thing, and the ones without ICR would look even more washed out. I only say this because I know a few of your analog cameras in your system are very similar to the ones we carry. You are using the IP camera as a base point in the images above which makes the other images just look off. If I would have never showed you the IP image, you would have just thought the other images just looked like any other analog image. If you put one of these IP cameras next to your analog cameras in any scene, I think you would be amazed at the color difference that you will get as well. I think most people will tell you the same thing whenever they tested their first megapixel camera, its not just the resolution that stands out, its the colors too.
  7. ^^^ Thats only if you have tons of cameras and when you are viewing remotely over PSS. If I am not mistaken, it only occurs when you have a 32-64 camera view and the camera squares get real small, which causes some sort of warped lines on the image if I remember correctly. Otherwise, most people wont see it.
  8. The name says it all. If you have upgraded to Mac 10.7.3 and you are having problems with your current PSS version, there is a beta PSS version I would like you to try. Let me know if interested.
  9. I agree, the CNB doesnt put out an image that is far superior than any other analog cameras, the day time image is fairly decent but nothing outstanding. I think though, because of its rugged build and specs, and its low light capabilities, coupled with a decent price is why its so popular. I havent been able to find a good outdoor vandal dome, with dual voltage, and ICR for less money. But as far as analog image quality, in my opinion, there isnt currently anything out there that exceeds a well built camera with the Sony Effio DSP. I know there are a bunch of cheap junk cameras that have the Effio DSP, but its because they are using the wrong components to go with it. To really optimize the Effio, you get the best image when the camera also has - ICR - A megapixel lens - Sony Exview CCD As long as these components are added, in my opinion, there isnt an analog camera that gives a better image. But even the best analog camera still doesnt match up to an IP camera at D1.
  10. I thought the same thing. Trust me, its not the CNB looking lousy. The CNB is a good analog camera, but whenever you compare an analog camera to a megapixel camera, megapixel just takes precedence, no matter what analog camera you are using. Its just when you blow it up full screen on your computer and compare it to an analog camera, any analog camera is going to look sub-par because the 1080p resolution with progressive scan looks so much crisper than D1 resolution with interlaced scan. If you watch it without blowing it up full screen, then the CNB image doesnt look as bad because the analog video is closer to its native D1 pixel size and the pixels are squeezed closer together. We also did a few tests using our best analog camera we have, the BX700, and I put a 2MP lens on it to try to sharpen up the picture even more. Although the image looked slightly better than the CNB, it still just doesnt even come close to the megapixel image. And trust me, there is no reason for me to downgrade the CNB or to intentionally make it look bad, I sell it too.

    WI FI for DVRs

I finally got my iogear adapter to work. i will test it a little more and if it continues to work good. Works just as good as being hard wired. Of course there is a distance limitation but if you are within normal range of your wireless router, its a great option.

    WI FI for DVRs

I just recently got an Iogear adapter that is very similar but I cant get it to work on the DVR. I got it to work with my laptop but cant seem to access the DVR. Was there anything special you had to do?

What is wrong with this camera?

It all depends from the manufacturer. They flash the chip to their preferred settings before sending out. Your right, your camera shouldnt look that noisey. Not sure what the problem is here.

I couldnt find on the specs that it had an IR cut filter.

router doesn't accept dvr's ip address.

you may be out of your routers DHCP range. get an ip from the router with DHCP to ensure you are on the same range as your router?

What is wrong with this camera?

Looks like the sharpness may be too high which can hurt the picture. Also you said artifacts are a problem, that has a lot more to do with the DVR Card than the camera. As far as adjusting colors and such, its always best to do that at the camera than the DVR card. Here are some tops with the Effio OSD: - Dont turn you gain way up, keep it at .25 or .50, otherwise you will have noise - In the Day/Night Settings, be sure to leave the color burst as on, or the picture may look noisey, especially at night - Turn the ATR off and see what that does - Play with the cameras sharpness settings, Some DVR's/monitors can take more than others

    Auto tracking in action- video

@ Shockwave: Dont worry, you cant win with the two in particular guys that are notorious for doing and saying things such as this. I have learned along time ago that they know everything and you know nothing. Their products are supreme and everyone else's are inferior. I have just learned to have fun with it.

Sony Effio E 700 TVL How to Setup

Please know that with the cameras motion detection, it will not record in motion detection. That is done at the DVR. The cameras MD is meant just primarily as a tool to show movement in the area where the motion is sensed.

Thought it did pretty decent for how many objects that were in the field of view. Pretty cool nonetheless.
  23. Up until recently, There were thousands of Walmarts that still use time lapse VCR's, and there are still several that use them today. Talk about prosecuting, I bet collectively they prosecute on a weekly basis. Heck, when we used to sell used time lapse VCR's just a couple months ago, we had very large well known retailers who would purchase from us just to buy them to replace their pooped out time lapse VCR's. And as far as analog goes, I would love to know how many casino's still use analog. I will take a blind guess and estimate that more people are being prosecuted with analog video today than IP equipment. Not because of quality, but because it is still very prevelant in many companies systems. Perhaps, this wont be the case 10-15 years from now when most people have fully upgraded. Speaking of time lapse VCR's, I've seen good quality time lapse VCR's with a quad processor or MUX and you would end up getting better video than a highly compressed DVR. The video management wont be as easy but the video quality may look better. This was the case on the very first DVR I ever played with. It was an old used Avtech, and the video was very blocky.
  24. Yep, Agree totally. Thats why I said: And BTW, CIF is 352x240 in north america, 352x288 is PAL CIF. Not trying to be anal, just wanted to point it out.
