I have heard the same thing. I think that basically gives the camera the nighttime effect which prevents you from having to focus the camera at night time.

Yes I agree. The motherboard on the Apollo HD is physically bigger. I am sure that has something to do with it. Most people probably woudlnt recognize the quality difference but I can. The Zues's are still a good DVR, but Apollo HD's are better.
-
The specs are correct. AN = ZuesLite AS = ZuesMK2
-
No big thang but a chicken wang. Reading Dahua specs is sometimes like reading greek. As good as a DVR they make and as much money as they make, you would think they would hire a very fluent english speaking person to write their manuals. Hmmmm, perhaps we should approach them. Well its confusing how they have them named to be honest. I think they need to distinguish them better by renaming them Their is the Zues Lite and the ZuesMK2. The Zues lite doesnt have PTZ or alarms. The ZuesMK2 does. They do need to scrap the Zues Lite as the ZuesMK2 is a few dollars more than the ZuesLite. Only reason we carry the ZuesMK2 are for folks who are looking for a very basic system or a single cam system. It goes in this order: Zues Lite - ZuesMK2 - Apollo HD But all of the Apollo HD's and Zues Lite and ZuesMK2 have the option to do D1 30 FPS on channel 1 while other channels are CIF.
-
Actually its just like the Apollo HD in which you can do D1 at 30 FPS on channel 1 as long as the other 3 channels are CIF. I like this feature because alot of people are looking just for a single camera system and this gives them the option to do full D1 on one channel if they wish. Of course they usually end up getting more cameras in which it is best to do all channels D1 7 FPS

Also, here is a video of a 3.5-8mm lens starting with it zoomed out all the way and then we zoom it in. You should expect similar results from you cameras (sorry for the long length of this video, i need to edit it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdVMPLB8MxE In contrast, here is a 7-70mm lens zooming in and out at different levels http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXCnznBiOOk&NR=1 As you can see, you get alot more detail from the 7-70 when its zoomed in. But there is trade-off of qualities when zooming in and out. The more you zoom in, the less width of view that you have. Also, sorry for the lack of colors in these videos in pictures. It always seems to be cloudy as heck everytime I decide to do a video.

Hi Jon, Can you post some screenshots of the pictures. Do you have you DVR locally networked yet? If so, I can give you quick instructs on how to get some screenshots. The cameras that you have are with 3.5-8mm lens which are mostly used for wide angle shots (depending on how far or close you have them zoomed in or out) Depending on how far away the object is away from the camera, facial features may not be recognizable from a certain distance. Of course the closer the person is to the camera, the more detail you will have. Alot of it depends on the focal length and how far away the object is away from the camera, for example, you wont be able to see clear facial features of a person 35' + away with the lens zoomed all the way out. If you are trying to view details in object that are far away, then you may need to get a stronger lens. Take a look at our lens comparison to get a general idea of what to expect with different lenses: http://www.nellyssurplusguide.com/lenscomparison.html Also, make sure that you have your DVR recording at D1 resolution.

When comparing the 4 channel versions: The ZuesMK2 is similar to the Apollo HD, but the differences are: - ZuesMK2 does not have HDMI, the Apollo HD does - ZuesMK2 does not have RS-232, the Apollo HD does (you will probably never use the RS-232) - The ZuesMK2 only has 1 Alarm Relay output, the Apollo HD has 3 Alarm Relay Outputs - The ZuesMK2 has 2 audio inputs, the Apollo HD has 4 All other specs are essentially the same.

Yeah, because that happiness will go away within the next 2 weeks when he is getting up in the middle of the night every 30 minutes wanting to eat. Sorry, didnt mean to ruin the mood. I have 3 myself, one is crawling all over me as we speak.

Thanks for all the replies. I will give all suggestions a shot. Its a 32 bit system with 2g ram. It was fast at one time but I have added buttloads of programs and use it as my main computer all the time, but I am still convinced that there is something "wrong" with it. I did think about re-installing windows too, thanks for the tips on that. Still confused about the backdoor thing, I am not sure I even want to go there. @ Ak357 and Rory, I'll leave your personal life up to you guys, whatever you do in your spare time is none of my business

Sony SNCDH280 - Anything bad about it?
SEANHAWG replied to Guest's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I had a guy call me today and said that he is perfectly fine with using him jimmy rigged canon megapixel "picture taking" camera for his security camera. He has it jimmy rigged where it will take a picture every 5 minutes and upload to his computer. He has ordered all sorts of MP security cameras only to return them because he was not satisfied with the quality compared to his canon. He then continued on to say that he burnt through 2 of them already but he just buys them on eBay for $20 a pop whenever one burns out so no big whoop. I dont know guys, this may be a threat to the MP security camera market....... -

Now that is a cool product. -
Thanks Chuck. I have worked with many Hitron manufactured products and find them to be of very high quality. Keep up the good work over there.

Had something new happen to me today. Recently we had a pretty bad storm and either lightening hit my camera or water got inside the housing to the camera and screwed up the electronics to the camera. Either way the camera got screwed up and there was a big line going across the screen for that particular camera and the picture would roll every now and then. This was about a week ago when it happened and I just left the camera plugged into the DVR with plans on changing it out at a later date. So I come in this morning and my DVR is constantly restarting and cameras 15 (the jacked up one) and camera 16 were not being displayed. So I turned that DVR off and I have another DVR right under it which was looping through to the DVR that was restarting, I noticed it was also having problems as well. The DVR's color settings changed all of a sudden and it was acting real funky (it would respond very slowly) So anyways, I unplugged the BNC connector from the DVR for the problem camera and all problems are now solved for both DVR's. I assume that the problem camera was sending some surges back to the DVR through the coax which was making it act funky. Case in point, if you have a funky acting DVR, check to see if you have a bad camera, it could be the problem.

Your problem could also be IE9. Several DVR's have problems running on IE9. Try reverting back to IE8 to see if that solves the problem.

Help finding a dvr to fit my needs...
SEANHAWG replied to NoFinga911's topic in General Digital Discussion
you can always choose the substream on your DVR to view at less than D1 but still record at D1 if bandwidth is a problem. -

In most surveillance scenario's, you should always record in D1. Even if it slows down you internet viewing because the most important thing is what resolution it is recording at at your DVR. -

If you do decide on a PTZ, be sure to check its power rating. Most full size PTZ's require 24VAC only so I would just be sure to go ahead and order a 24VAC PSU to be safe. The advantages to using 24VAC is you can run longer power runs than 12V. You will have no problem at all with power loss using 24VAC either with Siamese or Cat5 running 120'. The VCM-24VF will take either 24VAC or 12V DC power so you are good there, but please note that not all CNB cameras will take either/or. Some only take 12V DC. Also, most of their full size PTZ's take 24 VAC like I said above. I think some of their mini PTZ's take 12V DC only. But if you were going PTZ, you'll be much more satisfied going with full size. You will love the PTZ controls on the Apollo. You can make it where the camera follows your mouse cursor around. Easier than any joystick in my opinion. Also, if you were to plug a camera that take 12V DC only into a 24VAC power source, it would not work. -
dvr 1614n (avc777w) beeping constantly
SEANHAWG replied to chadhuskey's topic in Digital Video Recorders
It sounds like its not getting proper power to the motherboard. Are you using the power supply that it came with? -
I think mine is 27X. The CDC2500H's are mostly 18X, the one I have is a CDC2500HX and most of those models that we have are 27X. I havent had a 36X run across me yet.

Replace my Costco Samsung system with?
SEANHAWG replied to Linus903's topic in General Digital Discussion
I would prefer a Sams or Costco over Zmodo, that is if I had to make that preference. I havent seen much high end Zmodo stuff though. We have gotten much business from people wanting to ditch their Zmodo DVR because they hate it. -
Do most PTZ Analog Cameras memorize the Zoom in a preset?
SEANHAWG replied to Joel Mateo's topic in Security Cameras
I hear ya. Best way is to just ask the supplier of that particular camera just to make sure. If they are unable to answer, move on and find another. -
