  1. Some do and some dont. The lower end PTZ's normally only memorize the Pan/Tilt position. Reason being is because they simply put a zoom camera inside the pan/tilt head and the zoom camera they use normally doesnt have preset capabilities.

    RJ10 DSP

Anyone have any experience with these. I had a manufacturer contact me about some of their 650 TVL cameras that had this DSP and I havent heard of it before.
  3. Very interested in the DH-DVR0404/0804/1604HF-S-E. Am wondering if this is going to be a new market trend with all these ridiculously high TV Line cameras coming out that cannot be fully utilized with regular DVR's. I just wonder if its really gonna be much of a noticeable difference?
  4. The HD-Pro is what I like to call the mack daddy DVR. Has pretty much everything you would want in a DVR. I sent you a PM.

    IR reflection ?????

no not yet. I just posted that yesterday. I will have to take down my BBM-24F and bring it right next to some prototype cameras that we ordered that have the effio-e chip. I am going to make a 4 camera testing station so I can test the cameras side by side in the same locations. All 4 of the cameras are going to be mounted to a board and I am going to try to make it portable so I can move the camera station in different scenarios. I have it somewhat thought out in my head, its just getting those thoughts into materialization is what is difficult for me as I am not mechanically inclined on such things.

My quest on getting a PTZ up and Running

I agree, I need to, but I got it pretty close to the edge and sticks out enough where I almost get 270. I just cut down that weed this weekend. Believe it or not, that was a weed/tree that sprung up in one year.

    IR reflection ?????

I agree but I'll bet he can still get a better image than what he has.

    IR reflection ?????

I am testing some cameras with the Effio-E chip in them right now and I can attest that he can get a better quality image than what he currently has so that is why I recommended him to check his DVR settings. The Sony Effio-E's are just as comparable to the Monalisa's in my opinion if not a little better in some aspects. I am going to do a side by side comparison soon.

My quest on getting a PTZ up and Running

If you know you have power to the camera and you are quite confident that you have your BNC connection crimped/twisted on correctly, then I am afraid to say that your camera may be defective. Where did you buy it from? Perhaps you can ask for a refund or exchange. Like Tom and I said before, you will need to get a video feed before you can move on to even think about controlling it. All you need is power running to the camera and a BNC connection just like you do the stationary camera that you already have it hooked up to get a video feed. To double check the BNC connection that you have, simply bring the other camera that you have hooked up that is working and test it on the power and video connection that you had the PTZ hooked up to. This will rule out any bad video or power connections if you get a picture with the regular camera. If you deem your camera defective and are needing to get a replacement, keep us in mind, we have the CDC2500HX FastTrax 3 version which is a little faster and has more presets than your CDC2500H FastTrax 2 version. But you will really want to exhaust all troubleshooting methods before you attempt to return/replace it. More often than not, its just a small configuration issue that is causing the problem, but from what you have told me, it sounds like you are doing everything correctly. One more question, how many amps or VA is your power supply putting out? It should say it right on the power supply.

    IR reflection ?????

Cool. Do you have your DVR set to the highest resolution and quality settings. The image appears a little "un-sharp" Also, you may want to check if your lens is fully focused too. I think you can get a sharper image with that camera. Of course you can also turn up the sharpness settings with that camera too but make sure your DVR is recording on the highest pixel size (d1) and make sure it is at its highest quality setting (bit rate). Check your lens too.

My quest on getting a PTZ up and Running

Hi, I would bet that your DVR already has PTZ controls on it. Check the back and see if you see any connections on the DVR that say TX+ TX- (or A and B) If your DVR has PTZ controls than no extra controller is needed. If your DVR does not have PTZ controls, then you will definetely need an extra controller. When I first brought this post up last year and explained that I could not get the cameras on screen display up, I simply meant that I could not get the cameras menu up on the screen to adjust the settings. I was still getting a video feed from the camera just fine, I just could not bring up the OSD. I later found out that you simply call up preset #90 to get the OSD up, or maybe its #95. I cant remember at the time. Its somewhere between 90 thru 95, LOL. Anyways, if you are not getting a video feed out of the camera then that is the first problem that you want to get taken care of first before you move on to try to control the camera. You actually do not even need PTZ controls to get a video feed. All you need to do is make sure that you have your 24 VAC power hooked up correctly and make sure that you have your BNC connection on correctly. Are you using 24 VAC power and do you have it hooked up right? Are you sure your BNC connection is crimped on properly? U just want to get a video feed before you move on.

Stupid (probably!) question about camera lines

Here it is. It was 540 TVL: http://www.pixim.com/assets/files/product_and_tech/540HTVL_Max_WP_Final.pdf Good article.

Stupid (probably!) question about camera lines

Actually 480 pixels is different than 480 TV lines. From what I understand or have read somewhere (or someone posted an article on here about it one time) The max TV lines that a recorded DVR video will pick up on is 550 TV Lines. I wish I could give more info on it but I cant seem to remember the article. I want to say that the user numbnuts or nimrod (or one of those funny usernames) posted a link to an article about it from some manufacturers website. I do agree though that one should not rely on the TV line specification as it is just a small factor that one should look at.

    minor but irritaing PTZ fault

Judging by all of your troubleshooting performed, in my opinion, it seems to be a power supply issue. Does your PTZ take 12V DC or 24 VAC? Let us know about your power supply that you are using too, let us know the amp output.
  20. I used to have a mini DVR kind of like this. Turn off the pre-record function and change back to D1 to see if that removed the flickering.
  21. It sounds like an underamped power supply to me.
  22. Why not ditch PC cards altogether and just get standalones. Most standalones nowadays are comparable and often better and easier than PC based systems.

    IR reflection ?????

Try zooming your lens in as rory said just a tad. I dont know why your picture looks so washed out during the day. I have dealt with a few cameras with effio chips in them and even without IR cut it produces a nice colorful picture, you may try checking your color settings on your DVR, perhaps lower the brightness and upper the saturation. The IR's glowing red is normal. Different cameras will have different strengths and more IR leds hence the differences in redness intensity.

Newb nervous about wiring Ultrak PTZ

You only need to use IE to access the remote network viewer. You can feel free to use firefox to access your routers admin. You can actually use Firefox to access your remote viewer but for now just use the IE way and once we get that down, we'll move on to the firefox method.

    digital cctv to analog tv

you just need an rca adapter on the end of your cable so you can plug it into your rca input on your plasma. My guess is that you are trying to run the coax cable into the coax input on your plasma which wont work.
