Is this the same DVR that you are configuring this stuff on: This DVR uses 7050 as its mobile port. We sold a couple of these a while back when we first started and the app for the iphone is aplayer. I got a call from one of my customers who purchased these saying that his aplayer is about to expire because it was a trial version (was not aware that they expired). Does anyone know of the updated iphone app for this DVR?

I believe it has to do with the particular DSP being used. For example, there are different types of Effio DSP's and the menu screens are all the same across different brand names.

2 different things and both are important DNR - Digital Noise Reduction - Its the cameras ability to clear up a noisy picture. will provide a more clear picture, especially during low light hours when noise becomes more of a problem AGC - The cameras ability to electronically boost the image received so that the image can be seen better in low light.

better yet, post some video of that bad boy.

650TVL Sony-Effio-E IR Weatherproof camera
SEANHAWG replied to Marky48170's topic in Security Cameras
This is very unusual because the wired Effio camera should blow away your astak cameras in all aspects so if you are having problems then your camera is either defective or there is something wrong in your setup. When comparing them: #1 Did you use the same monitor #2 Use the same DVR #3 Did you try a short testing cable just to hook up the camera to the DVR for testing purposes. Perhaps your cable is bad or is too long and not getting enough power. Try factory defaulting the Effio camera and that should give you decent settings. I am not sure who you bought that camera from and not all cameras with the Effio chip in them are made alike but even the cheapest made Effio camera should be better than the Astak cameras you can get at Walmart. Please provide as much detail as possible about your setup including cable used, monitor used, dvr used, etc. -
To be honest, I dont know what they are called, but I have some extra. If you want to pay shipping you can have a few. PM me for more details.

help with PHILIPS observation camera pinout..
SEANHAWG replied to ericc972's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Can you show me the back of the camera. We have some philips observation cameras but not sure if they are the same one as yours. I may be able to help. -
Hi G, When you tried to access your DVR from outside the network, did your IP change? Do you have a dynamic IP? Also, whenever you are trying to login outside of your network, you will need to double check and make sure you are using Internet Explorer 8 and you will need to make sure that you have your configured that computers active x settings as well. Some people forget to do that from the other computer. You will also need to make sure your ports are open. To do this, go to a computer within the same network as your DVR and go to www.canyouseeme.org and check all 4 ports

I dont think 37778 is necessary to be forwarded. But its not going to hurt anything if you do.

If you have a VGA and HDMI output on the same DVR, then you will most likely get the same results on the output. Well thats how they are on the Dahua's anyway. I have a flatscreen monitor that has HDMI and VGA input and I have switched between the 2 and cannot notice any difference whatsoever between the 2 outputs using the same exact DVR. We have some older Clinton and GVI DVR's where you cannot tell any difference between the VGA and Composite output but those were made in the day where tube monitors had somewhat of a prescence. But I would say for the most part on all of the newer DVR's being built today, you will get the best results from VGA or HDMI.

Costar FastTrax 3 CDC2500HX PTZ Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTPytFBIrsg -
@ Rory, are you testing with his IP? @ Kaid, it can very well be an ISP issue because they will sometimes block certain ports from being used. But since you said, that you have done this on the exact same service before, then that should not be a problem. One more thing, Did you get the DVR's IP through the process of DHCP? If not, please do that as that may also be the culprit. Remember to forward all of your ports to that new IP that you get.

Good 16 Channel DVR for business use? Suggestions?
SEANHAWG replied to Bmonaweck02's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Standalone DVR's have the programs pre-loaded in the DVR. Most of the time its as easy connecting the hard-drive connectors and following the on screen prompts to format the harddrive. Some DVR's just format the hard-drive for you as soon as you turn on the DVR without the need for any on screen prompts. -
When it freezes, does it freeze permanently or just for a little bit. It is quite common for them to freeze every now and then and then come back to normal. You wont notice this as much with higher bandwidths. And remember bandwidth is important at both your DVR and your viewing location. Your DVR is sending multiple video streams simultaneously and with slower bandwidths, you will have the momentary freezes. You probably dont see it on your Iphone because I assume your Iphone app only allows you to view one camera at a time. Your video will be alot more fluid if you use the "secondary stream" or "substream" or "internet stream" (is used in many different terms). Most DVR's have this and I assume that your DVR does too and yours is probably labeled "internet stream". This is a lesser video stream that allows you to view over the internet alot faster and more fluid. You can usually adjust your secondary stream as low as you want too. There is a trade off though, the lower the bit rate, the worst the quality. What I recommend is trying to find that sweet spot where you can get the highest quality without freezing up the video feed too much. Start off with the lowest settings and work your way up from there. Also if you lower your secondary streams frame rate, this helps too. Check your manual on how to adjust your internet stream.

250GB LCD DVR with 4 x Security Camera kit
SEANHAWG replied to nenko66's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Open up the DVR and inside there should be a button cell battery connected to the motherboard. Take that out and leave it out for a couple of hours and put it back in. That may or may not work but it just may. -
PTZ suddenly cannot be control via DVR after few months
SEANHAWG replied to shukri.re@gmail.com's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Yes cabling would be the first troubleshooting method. Secondly, try factory defaulting your DVR. We had one that would not control a PTZ after much troubleshooting, and we did a factory reset on the DVR and it worked just fine after that. We find that factory defaulting DVR's can take care of alot of wierd issues that your DVR may have. -
CNB cams are good but as I said before, they got way overrated on this forum. I still recommend them every now and then though because they are solid cameras and got a good warranty, but to me they just aint all that plus a bag of chips. I have been testing some cameras with the Effio chip in them that I actually like better than the Monalisa, the particular one that I am testing sees alot better in low light than any other camera I have seen. I am curious to see if anyone else that has tested a camera with the sony effio has the same opinion as mine about their superb low light performance.

You need to check with your IP to see why it is being blocked. It definetely needs to be open. Its possible that this is an ISP issue.

Okay here is a pic of the installed camera: and here is link to the youtube video of me jacking around with the Costar PTZ today. This is the CDC2500HX model. Very similar to the CDC2500H but a little faster and with more presets and such. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTPytFBIrsg I'll try to get some nighttime videos and show you that cool slow shutter speed feature. You can see at the beginning of this video when I zoom in on the tire that after a certain point, the optical zoom gives way to the digital zoom. I didnt use digital zoom any more after that in this video, the rest is just optical.

Dahua DVR's in the USA??? Or other good Brand DVR Recomend?

Hi Earl, No I dont but I'll get some video from my home setup tonight and post it on here. I only wish the camera was a little better at night but its definetely not bad but its definetely not the best either. There is a setting where you can do a slow shutter speed where it dramatically increases the ability to see at night but it makes the video look really wierd (its really more of a cool setting to play with as opposed to really being useful)

Wow, I totally forgot about this post. I feel like that has been years ago. To answer your question, they are awesome cameras and are definetely not junk. They retail for over $1000 new. I got one installed on the front side of my house.

How do you know a noisey camera? (sorry if posted before)
SEANHAWG replied to suemccartin's topic in Security Cameras
the most common issue with noise will occur at night time when you have a very dark picture and your picture is not as clear and crisp as it is in the day time, and sometimes it will have a "fuzzy" appearance. This is probably one of the biggest issues of false motion detection triggers. If this is happening mostly at night time, the best and most obvious solution would be to add more light. If you are getting false triggers at day, it could be leaves, trees, wind blowing your camera, etc. If you are getting false triggers for no reason, lower your motion sensitivity.
