Camera image whited out during the day, fine at night?
SEANHAWG replied to bricor's topic in Security Cameras
If the camera has adjustable settings, also try checking the Gain Settings, and/or Shutter Settings, both of those can also cause whiteout during the day if not set properly. -
D1 @ 30fps, CBR... 2048k or 1536k bit rate? Big quality diff

Why not just download video files specified by the time that you want instead of downloading the files via the pack time? For example, if there is only a 10 minute incident that you want to download, just search for it and write down the time that it happened and just download that specific time through the "BackUp" on the main menu. -
Its been a while but I believe this is the one I bought: Fleabay special. I'll try to get some screenshots posted up this weekend.

I bought a 140 led IR illuminator off of eBay for $55 with free shipping from Hong Kong and the thing lights up my whole driveway like a charm. I've had it up for 6 months now with no problems. I tested it on a Sony Effio camera that we bought a sample on where you can go into the OSD and turn the gain way up and doing that you could see the IR past 100' easily. Of course the closer you get to the IR, you get totally whited out but its great for far away objects.

The way I look at it is people would be willing to pay for more expensive coax if the cameras and DVR's were alot cheaper. Perhaps this could not be said for very large installs where cabling really becomes a large part of the budget but for small installs for homes and small businesses, I think it would fly.

I am trying to find a cheap one channel mini DVR that can record to an SD or mini SD card or something of that nature. I have been looking on eBay for them and they have some but they all have cameras built into them or they have the spy equipment (glasses, pens, etc) which I dont want. I am just looking for something cheap, even ghetto, for a jimmy rigged project I have in mind. I assume most of the cheap products will only have A/V inputs which is fine with me. Why cant I find something like this? Surely they have got to have something?

I havent seen a whole lot of offerings from the Chinese for a cheap MP IP camera (just a handful) and IP has been around for a little bit. If they arent fully embracing IP, then I doubt that they will embrace HDCCTV. I think most of the Chinese companies that make the cheap "no name" security equipment look at what they can sell a ton of at the cheapest price possible. I think these Chinese companies are going to look at the market for HDCCTV equipment and notice that they will not be able to sell a ton of it so they arent going to make it. This stuff will never take off until they get the price down considerably. If the price was lower than IP then I think you could rock the market with it. You can try to convince all the advantages of it that you want but lets face it, the only thing that is holding this back is the price. If it were me developing this stuff, I would have found a way to where I could sell it cheaper before I introduced it to the market. They introduced this stuff to the market with $10,000 recorders and you have analog DVR's that consistently under $1000, even for some 16 channels. And then you have NVR's that cost well under $10,000 too. The makers/sellers/alliance of this stuff do not have the buyer in mind, that is why this stuff is so slow to take off. Buyers are not dumb, especially in this economy. Hopefully the alliance or whoever is in charge of pricing this stuff hears this and wises up. Bottom line, this is a great idea, but its being marketed horribly.

I dont have ADD but after reading this thread, I think I just have been diagnosed with it.

Sounds very cool. I'll have to research it more. Do you still have to do all of the IP configurations or does it just plug into a DVR and work?

Why would you change suppliers?
SEANHAWG replied to tesc_cctvpro's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
why would you want to know this for? -
Flat out, there is no way that HDCCTV will ever succeed until it gets cheaper than comparable IP cameras. It just comes down to marketing. I did see a very basic 4 channel DVR that costs around $950 which was the cheapest I have seen but its still gotta get cheaper than that. Its just comes down to basic marketing, if anyone has the money to buy a 2mp camera, they are going to buy an IP camera because its cheaper to setup and you get the same performance with the option to get an even higher resolution camera. And the customers who are afraid to move to IP arent going to buy it because its ridiculous expensive, they will just buy the highest TVL camera they can find to add to their current system. This is just how customers think and until HDCCTV suppliers understand this, its never going to catch on. I personally think its a great idea and hope all the components to make a system gets to be as cheap or maybe a little more expensive than a regular analong system, but if it doesnt, it's gonna be like the segway scooter, a great idea that never caught on. If anyone from the alliance is listening, lower the prices of those DVR's for gosh sakes. If you want cheap, have some chinese manufacturers build some.

Odd solution but glad that you have it working now!!! The Q-see's must come with a slightly different firmware or something. Not sure why it would do that. At any rate, glad its working now.

If its analog equipment, compatibility should not really be an issue as I dont think thats even possible. Can you give the model # of the camera.

DVR Remote doesn't move cameras over iPhone...

email Tom a temp password for gosh sakes. He can get it fixed if you let him. -
from the response you got from the seller, it appears he is speakin some engrish.

Nice to know, but that is completely irrelevant to this camera. I sent you a PM

Are you shining any IR light for the camera to pick up on? More than likely your old CMOS camera had IR leds surrounding the lens. It is possible that your newer box camera does have an IR filter on it it but the only way to tell is to put an IR illuminator in its field of view to see if it "picks up on that" You can always try using the lights on your old CMOS camera as a make shift illuminator for now. And the IR is captured at the camera's CCD. IR lenses help but are not required for your camera to see IR. The main thing is if there is a IR filter in front of your CCD which would determine if your camera can see IR or not.

No 12V DC will not work on that camera any way shape or form. They are not dual voltage. 24VAC is a better power supply to use anyways due to its ability to send power over longer cable runs. Use 24VAC.

Yes its a shame that Samsung makes those box systems because it puts a bad name on all of their other good security products. I never understood why they did that. I am sure money had a part in it though.
-
Yes, she had already mentioned that she did this.

I cant really notice much of a difference from 800 and up from the DVR's I have tested. -
Also, I was setting up email on one of my other DVR's and I was having the same issues as you which was it was sending me test emails but was not sending me emails on motion. The problem was that I made the mere mistake of forgetting to check the email box under the network settings. Its the small things like that that can screw up the whole endeavor. Not sure if this what problem you are having but make sure the box is checked.

screen shots of router configuration screens would help out tremendously
