I think most generally IP MP cameras still see better at night time compared to Analog when you look at the "whole picture". But there is a drastic change in performance between a daytime MP picture and a Nighttime MP picture picture. With Analog, the performance difference is not so drastic. So this gives the perception that analog is better at night when in some cases its not. Thats how it is with my experience though, I havent played with the old school stuff.

Sorry, dont have the firmware for that DVR. But you should be able to get it from whoever you bought it from.
-
It would work fine then. There would be no IR filter in the way.

The blue one is the IR filter. The clear one probably does nothing, its just clear. This camera appears to have a mechanical ICR filter which means it lets in IR at night but blocks it during the day. Why would you want to remove this?

Camera Comparison Tests: Ultrak, Pelco, Samsung, CNB, Effio
SEANHAWG posted a topic in Security Cameras
Over the next month or so I will be putting the following cameras in different scenario's to test how well they do under certain conditions: Ultrak KC552BCN (330 TVL) 24 VAC Pelco CCC1300H-2 (470 TVL) 24 VAC see this link for picture: http://www.nellyssurplus.com/catalog/DSCF8848.JPG) Samsung SCC-131B 24VAC/12VDC (520 TVL) CNB BBM-24F 24VAC/12VDC (600 TVL) (The next 2 cameras do not have a brand name as they are prototype samples that we ordered from a manufacturer that we work with. They have the Effio-E chip in them so for simplicity purposes I will simply refer to them as "Effio Cameras") Effio Camera Without IR Cut 24VAC/12VDC 2.8-12mm (700 TVL) (the grey one you see pictured) Effio Camera With mechanical ICR IR Cut 24VAC/12VDC 2.8-12mm (700 TVL) (the white one you see pictured) DVR used to take screen shots - Qvis Apollo HD (Dahua Manufactured) The lenses that you see pictured are for the box cameras and I will just use whatever is best for the particular time that I am using them. They are (1) Honeywell 3.5-8 manual iris (1) GVI 3.5-8 Auto-Iris (1) GVI 2.8-12mm Auto-Iris I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time but I never thought I would have the time to do such a comprehensive test in one setting so I decided that I will do it over a span of time (might take me a month or so to complete). I will be putting these cameras in various typical scenarios to see how they compare. Obviously the higher end cameras perform better than the lower end but I wanted to test just how much contrast there is in certain scenarios. What I hope to see is just how much noticeable difference there is in the TV line ratings. I am also curious to see how well the CNB with Monalisa compares to the Effio-e chipped cameras. I will be doing low light tests, full light tests, different scenario's, etc. If anyone has any suggestions for testing scenarios, please let me know. -

Wouldnt it be better to get the check first, and then blow them to pieces? -

But why is it focused during some parts of the day and not others. His 2nd image looks really sharp. -

I'm real sorry I never got to finish this. I probably knew in the back of my mind I wasnt going to be able to. This is actually kind of a doozy to get setup in difference scenario's but I do still have all of this stuff together in a box. If I ever get around to it again, I will do another scenario. The problem is, the "getting around to it" part. -

Qvis Apollo Pro 8CH Motion Record ?
SEANHAWG replied to jtetterton's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi Jason, That happeed to me one time and I dont know why. Actually, what I have found is that a good reboot will stop the issue. these are like computers and act like computers sometimes, meaning that a reboot will take care of funky issues. If you can, you may completely re-format your hard drive and start clean over. First, you may just try a reboot to see if that helps. -
Avigilon 5MP Dome vs AXIS P3367-VE
SEANHAWG replied to MagnumVP's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
i like and agree with Avigilon's answer. I have gotten to the point where I dont even look at LUX ratings on cameras anymore because they are so inconsistent. I have some old school 330 TVL cameras with a lux higher that 1.0 that look better that some cameras with a lux of .01. I just order the cameras and test them in a typical night time environment, that is my gauge on whether a camera is good in low light or not. -
call me Monday. look forward to hearing about it. 855-341-4077 Toll Free.

No. That would be a container coming from 3 different countries
-
I said if you installed yourself. Plus, I bet you could do an Avigilon 4 channel server for cheaper than that. I dont even know Avigilon pricing and you should be able do it for cheaper. Listen to me pushing Avigilon! I have to stop that, I am inflating Ak357 and the Wireguys ego's too much.

Cloning MAC address for little downtime

Yeah, I agree. I cant see, even from the NVR creators point of view, why this is needed. -

If I am not mistaken, that is how Milestone works. Atleast that is what I have heard. Could be totally wrong. -
yeah it doesnt matter what DVR you have, if you receive a surge up the coax, its gonna fry those channels. Putting surge protectors on each channel at the head end like ssnapier showed will help.

Qvis Apollo Pro 8CH Motion Record ?
SEANHAWG replied to jtetterton's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi Jason, It indeed looks like you have channel 1 setup properly for MD recording. I am not sure about the other channels though. What happens when you just search for channel 1? What happpens when you search at the console? Are you computer time and your DVR time mathched up? Just make sure that one is not one hour behind the other, a few minutes off is no big deal. -

Awesome pic! Great video too! Thats because you are just doing it a different way. Definetely not the only way. There are a few different ways to backup video, and the way you did it was just fine. However, if you ever need to backup large amounts of video, its recommended to do it the way that the guide that I linked shows. -
Smith just answered my question for me. Point is, you can get nice brand name IP cameras MP quality, and be alot less than $8000. I mean sure, if you do a google search to find the most expensive IP cameras that are on the market, then yeah you are going to prove me wrong but point is, most 4 cam installs, whether they are residential or commercial, shouldnt cost more than $8000, and that is buying nice brand name MegaPixel cameras. I will give you this, your sales skills must be top notch in order to close a deal for $8000 for a 4 camera system.
