RGB Spectum and Pelco has one also I am sure there are more out there

Not sure on IFS training but we use there media converters. Easy enough to use, just plug the connections in and go. We use the optimax fiber kits and their connectors. Its not like the old days when you would have to cleave and polish, confirm that you have a good straight cleave and then terminate which would take 15-20 minutes. We use there kits and connectors and now have th terminations down to a few minutes each, tops. It feels like I am cheating its so easy, it just takes some practice on the cleaves. Also the kits come with a CD with all the training material you will need. We got it all through Northern Video and West Penn. As for running the fiber, just don't bend it too much 3"-4" radius max (it varies , check with the manufacturer) and don't pull to hard. I can't remember off hand how much pressure you can apply (its been a while since I've had to be in the field). Make the jump into it, its worth it, you can ignore emi on your runs and your can run a much greater distance (tons of other pluses).

Or.. you could just have windows log in, auto start geo and have it start recording just don't have it auto log into a geo account. Let it sit there waiting for someone to log into geo. Or you can even have it log into a geo account automatically, just set that account up so it can't do anything useful.

Looking for Camera Beta Testers (CCTV Forum Exclusive)
mfennell replied to GECAMGUY's topic in Security Cameras
I'm one of those local customers that would like to try them out. -
I have heard of them, they are one of our competitors, though we are not in the same geographical market. They are a large company. Not exactly sure what they use, I can't tell from the interface.
-
ok, talked to my rep. He said that the control center software would require a USB key. There isn't demo that he knew of so it would have to be purchased to really try it out.
-
Ah crap... One track mind here. For some reason I had my mind set on the Center Software. Well then, I will call my rep and find out. Sorry about that
-
Nope, it's an upgrade. I just downloaded it and installed it. I think there is some confusion as to what version you should be using, I think I very wasn't specific about that. CenterV2 is the FREE version.
-
It's still not on my orginal CDs (V8.0.0 and V8.0.1). Have a look at the screenshots. According to your screen shots, Center V2 is on the cd
-
Center V2 does what Control Center does, just with a different number of possible subscribers
-
if you select the drop down menu and choose 8.01. Its the full version
-
I don't know where your getting your CD's from. The control center software is on all of the verions of cd's that I have. Also its right on their website for download http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/5_0.asp.
-
actually it does come with it. Its not the pro version but it has all the same functionality of the pro version, the difference between the paid version and the free version that comes with the dvr software is the number of subscribers and the number of cameras it can monitor. The free version (depending on which free version we are talking about) can monitor upto 10 clients (version or 5 for (version 7.04 and before).

Arm is pretty good quality. We use thier box cameras and thier PTZ's. Not a hitch so far and are a little cheaper than similar items (in cost).

what are you using to connect a wireless camera to the geovision?
-
Can you use a wireless "IP" camera with a geovisio
mfennell replied to RichTJ99's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I don't know about the new version coming out but the existing geovision software doesn't support IP based cameras. Unless I am mistaken. -
How to move viewers to secondary monitor
mfennell replied to uglyb0b's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
hmm... seems to work fine for me. alt+spacebar arrow down to the "move" option then use the arrows keys to move the multiviewer to where you want. Resize doesn't work but the move option does -

or... you could hit the "alt+space bar" combination and choose the move option (use the arrow keys). then move the screen where you want it to move to. -

The key to doing the over night monitoring is Alert on Event. A motion sensor kicks off or motion is detected by the dvr then an alert is sounded and that camera pops on one of our dispatchers screens, you can't really miss it. Doing live surveilence without an alert can be very difficult to do, especially when your dispatchers are getting all blurry eyed from watching a bunch of screens and its 4 in the morning. Doing 24hr. or trying to be LP (Loss Prevention) from remote is difficult, but once in a while we will pick up a surveilence job and have a dedicated individual monitor just those cameras, its expensive but it can work.
-
The remote monitoring is an add on service to what we currently offer. Our mainstay is armed patrol and armed/unarmed security officers. Our price usually is a packaged deal, which includes (usually) one lockup patrol (where we go and check that the doors are locked) then hourly camera tours. If an event is triggered we verifiy that something is going on and then send one or more of our patrol units.

umm no, these all have different views.

It doesn't sound like a port issue. And VST_Man the XP machine isn't acting like a router or switch, its connected to a bridge which is handling the traffic. It sounds like you are having connection issues. Are you getting packet loss on that connection? Out of a thousand pings how many are dropped? 4 miles with a Buffalo bridge, seems far for that residentail equipment (not that it couldn't do it). How high is the AP mounted? How high is the bridge antenna mounted? Whats in the way? Are the trees filling out? Are you having lots of rain? Standing water? Hows the LOS (Line of Sight)?

a lot of video cards support mutiple displays. ATI and Nvidia most notibly. Our monitoring stations have at least 3 monitors each up to 8 depending on their duties. These are all off of one card per station. Look at the ATI video cards. We are using windows XP SP2 / 2 GB Ram/ 3 Ghz P4 or better. These are NOT DVR stations just monitoring and dispatch.
