i did it with 2 gv 1480a cards unfortunatly i was having compatablity probs with my pc so it would perodically freeze, but i got it to work with 32 inputs of course it cost me 3000$ total and ended up not working out but thats the way the world turns i suppose

any one have any success with selling dvr cards? if so where?! i have 2 dvr 1480 cards with everything, minus one box and i was looking on ebay and well...... it seems no one is really buying or even bidding.
-
alright thanks i appreciate it, the help i mean
-
figures, if i were to post them on there thought would it be a bad idea to provide the serial number for ppl to check them out themselves?
-
well the problem is i dont have that luxury...... bc it only fails every 3 weeks or so and it has to be running in the mean time, is there anyway to stress test it? and what im going to do is get a vga card that geovision reccomends works best with the cards bc the one now is acting "hinky" and if it decides to act hinky it could possibly be thats shorting out the system so after that i dunno?

hey im using 2 1480a geovision cards and 8.3 and well there are random gaps in my recorded video, like a full week with nothing recorded one of my cameras is pointed at street thats always busy so its not like theres no activity, im good with a pc but new to all of this and my boss is super pissed about it happening, anyone have any solutions?! or if i need to get any more information up by all means i will but im just overly stressed about this at this point and just dont know what to do, thanks!
-
welllll guess what xp and 8.33 still are causing either a the system to freeze or b it to just have huge gaps in recording time
-
well ****ty news it froze agian so what im going to do today is back up the video and reinstall windows xp if i can get a valid copy some where or windows 7 if i have to...... im really hoping this is the solution to my problems, if not i may have to take you up on your offer on vnc and having you take a look at it

ive always used wd black just because my brother is an it genius and when i started building geo vision systems, ive only done one so far he insisted i use em bc they are guarenteed for 5 years and with something as senstive as cctv and expensive, why waste the extra 1-200 dollars and not get them? ive always orderded my from newegg.com because they seem to have the cheapest price.... if that helps. besides when i looked at retail prices their dvrs run about 6,000 and only have a teryabyte of space, i made a top of the line pc for about 3,000 and it only cost that much because i put two 1480 cards in and while i did have my issues i think i have corrected them all now and hopefully its runnig as it was built to.

well i successfully uninstalled 8.31 and installed 8.33, i did fast back up and restore. I did leave it to restart the pc every 5 days and to start monitoring if idle for 30 seconds i also put it to restart the pc if the programs exits. left all the other settings default i dont think theres anything else i should do, right? besides reset my record location and to record on motion, ill let you know on the 5th day how its doing, should i leave the system restart on?
-
do i need install the 8.3.3 drivers as well or just the software?
-
alright ill take alook at both and i did get ahold of them and they sent me the address to download the latest version, but its an stp then ip address such as stp:\\55.555.55.555 and its not being really good about connection right now, im going to keep trying. As much as id love for you to use a vnc clinet to look at my setup, the pc im actully installing it on has no internet access so it really would be pointless for you to take a look, i may just grab 8.33 since its avalibe.

could i possibly use 8.12 then? geovisions website wanted me to submit my serial numbers and info to apply to get 8.34 but i just found the US based comany will let you download 8.33 i may have to give it a try if after i call them, they can not direct me to 8.34. Which im hoping this is the solution to my problem. I had to put back and start up my bosses pc this morning so i have it set to daily restart itself, restart if it exits geovision, and to start monitoring if idle for 30 seconds of no activity, which im hoping is at least a good tempoary fix. if you have any other suggestions for a temp fix id appreciate it as well! Im also hoping ur thinking this is also most likely the problem as well because you literally are my last hope, my brother (he is a true IT professional) and i worked on the pc it self till 1am stress testing and what have you and its great and all he could come up with was load xp and i havent slept since well i joined this forum yesterday so ill have to aplolgize about the rambling but i appreciate your help greatly

well i saw ur video haha and as far as i know ive done no masking, i do have it set on motion detect but its the default settingfor the masking. It definatly is some sort of error because any time video has stopped recording like for example one time that it did it was may 13, the event log in windows recorded a recovery from an unexpected shut down which i dont know if geovision just didnt bring it self back up when the pc restarted or what? But i did read in the manual that ive been going through agian and agian and agian about the watchdog wire, is it worth installing?

i did look and see, windows was having a disruptive shutdown when ever the video quit recording....... does vista have compability probs with geovision?
-
make sure you didnt mask out the area to be recorded also. Some DVRs do it the other way around where their form of masking is actually adding the area to record, while with Geo it is removing areas from recording. Any suspicious errors in the Windows event logs? How about the Geovision event logs? yea im pretty sure the drives are, western digital black has never failed me before and ive stress tested the pc all afternoon and not a problem has arisen. Unfortunatly im using the glorious windows vista with it and i have it updated to service pack 2 but since i really dont have an internet connection to the pc i cant really run much in terms of windows update(i did update it when i first built it in jan 2010). I really am starting to think its a software problem with geovison..... the windows event logs have nothing suspicious but when it comes to your masking comment, i really dont have any idea how i would address that issue AND how do i check the geovsion event logs? btw thank you very very very very very very much for ur help

yea sorry, two cards 1480 cards on one motherboard, which is Intel DP45SG Motherboard w/ Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, then 4 terabytes western digital black harddrives, 4096 mb of memory and ATI Radeon 9600XT VGA Card. Then i had a heat problem but i have it cooled down now with 3 cooling fans. The power supply is 750w ultra power supply if that also helps.
