I'm unsure if this is even possible, if you have the GV IP cam why not run it at full resolution? Otherwise I don't think GV Center will monitor just any old MPEG 4 IP cam.
-
NV3000 can issue x10 command no troubles there. Box cam and housing will be better then any bullet, well that and you can get low F lenses which you cannot for a bullet.
-
It's also illegal in OK for you to install CCTV in your business.
-
Aver is somewhat full of it on the megapixel claims, you can take it in but you can't seem to get it out. 800x600 is not megapixel, better then NTSC and VGA but not megapixel either.
-
Yeah if you just get a quality BW cam a street light is plenty.

I hate IR on the cam, if I buy them I'll use them as illuminators for a different camera and never connect it's video feed.
-
Might try turning the indexing service back on. EDIT: Nevermind I don't use windows sounds and have never really noticed this behavior. Possibly because I don't use sounds I dunno.

Thats gotta be a clone. Go with Geovision's GV-250 or Avermedia's NV3000 readily available and cheap however not crazy cheap like you guys have been talking.

NewEgg.com I like how their product searches work. Makes it easy to find 4:3 aspect displays as they keep getting rarer.

I don't know who is who or what happened to who when but we all here want this crap to stop. So press charges, go find his @ss or whatever but take this issue (CCTV_Suppliers>Securitymaster) somewhere else.

Arecont 3130, disappointing image quality
CollinR replied to Kiwi's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Whats the problem> Or what are you tring to capture? -
Quality isn't as good as the Hauppauge PCI cards but it's not bed either. Since this is USB it is portable and laptop friendly, good deal for <$100 for sure.

Running cable underground?
CollinR replied to Snow_death's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Also use Cat5 and baluns so you can add more cams in the future without much trouble. -
DSS sucks bad, if your subject moves. Makes for great static demo shots though.

http://www.elkproducts.com/products/elk-930.htm Might help you, I sell them but I'm more then google will net you. However if bought from me, I'll make sure you get it working. As I said though, you are better off leaving it on 24/7.

Use an automotive LCD that runs on 12v and switch it with an Elk doorbell/phone ring detection module and a relay. Really though it's best just to leave the thing on, better yet feed it a quad so you can see around corners and such.

Real Time Recording Direct To domestic DVD disk
CollinR replied to robinlane's topic in System Design
Yup all you need is a consumer DVD recorder, often marketed to convert VHS to DVD. Plug you cameras into a switcher and plug the switcher into the input of the DVD recorder. -
Fujinon here too.

Either way it' your choice, 2 NV5000s should be more then enough.
-
Go NV5000, the NV7000 is already depreciated and the NV7000H will be before long. If you can find an NV7000 they are selling old stock and it should be ~$250. The NV7000H is a hardware compression card and the NV5000 is not. The NV5000 can be configured to support 4,8,12 or 16 channels and will capture from your Axis across the internet.
-
It's somewhere in your configuration, if you can see the feed onscreen it's working properly. You might look inthe IO/Alarm sections, with IO you can disable recording on the cameras by NC switches. If a switch were disconnected or removed that channel would no longer record.

question re: installing cams for multiple bldgs...
CollinR replied to libertysurveillance's topic in General Digital Discussion
I would use a headless DVRs in each building and a monitoring station in building A. This will allow for a single Cat5 to run between buildings. I would highly suggest running more then one Cat5, probably 5 Cat5 and one fiber. Then in the future you can runt network and IP cameras over the fiber and keep your analogs with baluns on the 5 Cat5s. Assuming they go to a larger DVR or IP cams in the future. I would use homerun almost exlusively Cat5 and 18-2 with power supplies in each building. Then bridge the 2 buildings with the previsouly mentioned concept. -
I can't figure out how to get it to go past 800x600, originally I called Aver's Tech support and they said that was a limitation of the NV3000. Well now I have some NV5000s in the field and they too show this. I guess I am missing something as obviously it says on the comparision chart in black and white: Nonetheless I don't see a means to specify the output size and I have no clue where the 800x600 is coming from.

You can possibly hack the temp probe, you can possibly put a resistor in series, this way you can fool it into thinking it's 30* warmer then it really is. You would probably want a bypass for summer operation, just a toggle to bypass the resistor. This depends on how they did the temp probing though. I would also be concerned about other components, I kind doubt it's there to protect solely the harddrive.

MAC and IP cameras
CollinR replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
ActiveX = Windows thing. Most IP cams (MJPEG) can be used with any OS as JPEGs are the same graphics you see all over the internet you just need a basic webserver and a sinple javascript to refresh it. You run into troubles with MPEG4/H.264 streams, those are usually (almost always!) ActiveX as such Windows only. You would think someone would get smart and make a java interface, the whole problem would disappear as java is OS independent. You can play some tricks though if you have a I think the other day it was called a "High End" DVR configured for that purpose.
