Editable video from IP camera
CollinR replied to wcc_michael's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Okay get some baluns too. Maybe you can use some sort of NVR software that will allow to to export to an editable format. Thats basically what I do but my DVR/NVR is more then you will want to spend. IP cameras have many issues that the PVR150 will jump you past, although it's not megapixel it does provide for syncronized audio and an MPEG2 ps which is highly editable. -
Editable video from IP camera
CollinR replied to wcc_michael's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
A Hauppauge PVR150 and a decent analog cam will probably work best for you. That or one of the USB based TV encoders like the Plextor. This will give you a basic MPEG2 program stream that you can modify with any normal "create your own DVD" software. -
Thats not the trouble, most motherboards already have USB headers. Thats how you get the USB ports on the front of your case. The trouble is usually booting from USB drives, you have to really look of system BIOSes that support that. Otherwise a DOM and a USB stick are essentially the same inside aside from the massive transfer speed difference between PATA and USB 2.0. As you can make these solid state drives predictably sequential they will max the IDE bus unlike normal data drives.

Yes thats how you configure the IDE bus.

lux-riot dvr help needed
CollinR replied to acableconnection's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
All MJPEG IP cams? That will fill a drive fast, having 50mb remaining may be hard coded in so people can use it on their only drive. -
Yes. The IDE bus must be configured though, each IDE port supports 2 devices a Master and a Slave. Ideally you would have multiple IDE ports, the DOM as master on IDE1 and the DVD/HDD whatever as Master on IDE2. If you don't have 2 ports use the DOM as master and the storage drive as slave or better yet use the SATA for storage and just start getting DOMs that plug directly into the motherboard. You may need to modify the BIOS as some disable unused IDE ports, so if you think you have a bad/broken port it may just be disabled.

Big problem with Alnet software - RESOLVED - Thanks Alnet!
CollinR replied to darwal's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Excellent News! Okay this issue is resolved, new issue new thread. As it is obvious Alnet is making strides in support this thread is locked. Rather then let this become a catch all for Alnet I thought I would drop this one now. Future threads come as needed. Thank you much to Alnet Customer service, specifically Marcin and Rafel! -

True but 1/2" gear costs $$$. -

All the EXView stuff I have played with had a buttload of noise in the signal, have they improved? I haven't used an EXview cam in probably 3-4 years because of it. -
Avermedia Versus Geovision, my personal review.....

Try the little box and zoom on that! Much more CSI like. -
Ooops. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813153077 And it does support a normal ATX PS. It will fit well in a 1U rackmount which is very shippable, especially if you can find one with removable flanges. Also has PCIe options however I am unsure of the source for a mini PCIe 1x ribbon to PCIe x1 riser. I don't even know if they exist.

Look at this little firecracker. A. It's mini ITX so it's not much bigger then a CD case. B. It already has DVI, VGA and HDMI on it. C. It's got 2 RS232 COM ports, so you can do RS232 and RS485 without USB. The ADD-2 is dirt cheap. Really I gathered all this from the theater side of stuff it's not too needed for CCTV. In the theater you have to watch for DVI and HDMI as they are the only ones capable of carring future copywrited materials. For CCTV there isn't much point in it so save $ when you can.
-
Rory, google ADD-2 add on card for the Intel graphics. It will let you add DVI or HDMI. Some of the boards now even come with DVI or HDMI on them. In either case you can now have dual displays with on board graphics if you so choose. I had one that had a config for 4 displays, however I have no clue how you get 4 ports on an x3000.

Panasonic WV-BP334 Far from the cheapest but not too bad either. -
It's the modern version of penny stocks, all domains start with a value of about $10. Some wind up far more valuable then that.
-
I can remove GV passwords however you must provide me remote access to the system. I do not discribe how I do it, and I don't plan to make an automatic executable to do this (for security).

data distribution unit for 4 channels - does it exist
CollinR replied to griffonsystems's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
How much distance and what kind of wire? Is it properly terminated? Can you repull the wire? -
It's a base that allows you to position normally fixed box and housing style cameras. As a package it's going to cost more then most if not all all-in-one PTZs but offer much more performance. With a full size full length housing you can have a dual imager megapixel cam with motorized mega lenses that also can pan and tilt. Basically the really good stuff will not fit inside that little ball of a PTZ.
-
$10-50k USD per cam without any telemetry or recording capability.
-
x2 no hologram on the card, so it's either too old to be worthwhile or a clone.
-
A megapixel on a scanner will dominate just about everything but thermal.

DVR s with operating system embedded on chip
CollinR replied to jeromephone's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Yup you can make virtually and DVR run from a compact flash. Thats all those "DOM"s are, its a compact flash card inside a CF>IDE adapter. There are some pitfalls indeveloping these things but once done it can be rock'n. -

Your software is most likely stolen, if you bought just a card and software from eBay you need to report the seller. -

Run down the specs of your servers hardware: Motherboard make/model CPU make/model RAM Qty NIC make/model OS version I am very suprised you have gotten this far without that information. Probably should do the same for the client system too. -
AverMedia EB1304MOB USB playback cannot see the DVR HD?
CollinR replied to Scruit's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Maybe boot knoppix too, then you can probably mount it as Linux supports more formats. I would be shocked if any DVR manufaturer created their own disk format, I wouldn't be shocked if they used an obscure one. Windows can only see a limited number of possible formats so it's not the OS of choice for this.
