Rory and I have both used TinyXP and nLite, both can help you make a very good image. To go to the next level try for an XP Pro / XPe hybrid, make the machine boot from a compact flash card.

I use server cases, and as I have offered before I can load it all inside the case and ship it. That shouls save you a considerable amount vs. international shipping individually or buying locally.
-
Good cases already have provisions for this, they just cost >$100.

You mean just striping, no mirroring. Basically all RAID 0 is good for is bang:buck storage it is the most storage efficienent. RAID 1 is mirrored and can read from both disks at the same time however it must write to both at tha same time.
-
It can be done it's just cost prohibitive, you have to buy adapters for each of the cameras (crap cams too!) then you trash the monitor then you buy your DVR.

Yup if I had prewired it they would have gotten 3-5 Cat5 and no coax at all. Of course their media content delivery would be entirely IP based too so really you only need 1 network connection and I can put 10 sat boxes behind it. Or 10 sat boxes + 10 digital cable feeds + 10 FTA sat boxes + 10 ATSC over air antennas. All on 1 Cat5 to the display. The per TV cost is around $650 and that includes a 20" LCD TV and wall mount. Back in the server room is where they have to lay down the coin.

My first CCTV camera - Need a crash course in dipswitches.

You'll have to do this one yourself, it won't take too long per camera. This way you'll know all there is to know. Quickly you'll figure out which features you always want, which you sometimes want, which you must have for specific situations. Often the value of the cam is found in it's configurability. Niiiice lens choice BTW. You'll like it, that sens-up kinda sucks though. -
I like dual. (We are in the cam section guys. )
-
Probably not but some offer larger PTZ style housing that will. I think GE and Panasonic both offer them, probably others too.
-
IR on the cam sucks, don't do that again. Get a cheap BW camera and be happy. You can use that cam as an illuminator if you like. EDIT: Heck it looks like 3 totally different people. Thats almost funny it's so bad. Can you return it?
-
I don't use them, no good reasons just happy with what I do use and I don't change too often because of it. That and rebuilding disk images sucks.

What type of connection? Any WiFi involved?

Hello Rick! Enjoy your time here, learn and share what you know.

Cheapo TV set, just make sure it has a composite input. This assumes it is going up front for basically the customers to see that they are captured.

Anyone have luck with Pelco IP110
CollinR replied to SureVeillance's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What about picture quality? The Pelco streaming MPEG is a serious advantage. -
I have a lot, I used to own a hosting and development firm. Some of my more recent purchases are for a new product. www.MyWeddingCam.com I plan to reant streamers to wedding chapels and make a web interface so guests can see the wedding even if they were unable to attend. Think that will sell?

Compatable PCI-E Cards
CollinR replied to jwmachon's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
The only way to have that is if you have stolen software, contact the person that sold it to you. -
Compatable PCI-E Cards
CollinR replied to jwmachon's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I think it's none but you shouldn't be modifing their systems, they were designed specifically to work as they are. -
Because the interlace removed them! No the problem is the interlacing process is lossy. That was the point of doing it, to reduce bandwidth back in the 1930s. This is 1930s technology we are still having to tolerate. Some deinterlacing engines do a much better job then others, either way though when it gets to a component, RGBHV or digital interface display it must be deinterlaced. When you see a difference between Geovision capturing and deinterlacing the capture vs not deinterlacing it internally what you are really comparing is the display adapter's ablity to deinterlace vs Geovisions. If you use nice display adapters they may well have hardware support for deinterlacing and thats usuallt higher quality. If you capture and then playback on an old W95 machine with on board graphics it will look as saw toothed as a modern $150 Chinese DVR. Good reading. http://www.100fps.com/

The fact the two fields occur in different time is less then desirable, I have no (0) customers who bought my services expecting to capture a static image. They wanna see motion, they wanna see guy using trash bin or girl cheating or whatever but it moves.
-
No you still have only half the lines from each frame, motion just magnifies it. Progressive is superior, how much so is very debatable. The real issue here is megapixel is not 4CIF unless you got screwed by the DVR salesman.

I dunno if I would want ABF in the same room with a strobe light. The bigger question is manual or auto iris.

Need help selecting video proposal. Please give your input.
CollinR replied to violator's topic in System Design
Well thats not as bad still would be better if served to the public remotely. Many routers will reroute traffic on the LAN making odd requests back onto the LAN. As such just because you enter a domain to access all that may happen is DNS resolve on the internet and the rest of the requests never leave your LAN. A DVR with a base 100 connection can support many clients like that. It's the uploading it to the net that is going to kill ya. Thats why if the parents came to the daycare it would be no issue. However that totally defeats the purpose remote viewing, if they are already there they could just watch. As such nobody will. -
It's really close though and depends on what you want too. GV1120-16 PCI D type = ~$1620.00 GV800-16 PCI D type =~$1370.00 + GV Loop Through = ~$164.00 = ~$1536.00 So thats ~$84 for a switcher worst case, $248 if there are loops on the switcher. If you wanted a quad it would be totally different with the GV800 ahead for sure. I'm sure you noticed that nobody actually pays those prices, I'll just use the assumption that you can get about the same discount on both cards. Also if the DVR is used headless you can just get a video card with a TV out and it'll do everything the combo can.
