Big problem with Alnet software - RESOLVED - Thanks Alnet!
CollinR replied to darwal's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Alnet sucks! I had other issues with connecting the client, even as a dealer calling they didn't care! I wound up offloading something like 2 60fps cards here with both licenses for $100, pretty lame I must say. -
Any idea where to download f/w for avtech avc761?

IP CAMERA WITH POE FUNCTION
CollinR replied to Kifertech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
PoE = Power over Ethernet You network switch supplies power to the cameras is basically what it comes down to. -
Ding ding ding!

I care, if you get a "dedicated" unit it should have a RTOS. Otherwise you should just get a PC based system so you can get parts cheap when needed. Not much point in a dedicated box with embedded Windows.

Can you not set this up in the scheduler. I'm pretty sure I did this once, where the dog bark occurs on motion at the front door after X pm.

Which display, resolution and the Geo GUI resolution? This is an odd one for sure.
-
Very very few need or want 30fps, 15fps is dandy and 7 still pretty good. Thats all per channel of course.

The margin your dealer makes is what controls how well they can support the products they sell. If you force them into an absolute lowest price issue you will only deal with dealers who provide no real support. They can't afford not to, support costs real money. This is for real with me, this is how my family eats. I'm sorry but thats just how it is. You can probably take a ford on the fender style starter solenoid and put that inline with the battery hot lead. Then bring a circuit from the ignition on side to energize the solenoid. This will make it go while the car is on and stop when the car is off. Or you could get a better battery and let it go 24/7.

I too am interested in the "Military Grade" The Panasonic WVCP484 has the bang:buck and performance to match.

Get more B/W, they will serve you better.

Do you call Detroit when your Ford needs brakes? Why call Avermedia? They are the manufacturer, you should call your dealer. This is a quarter of the reason I exist. This is the mark of a good dealer vs. a bad dealer.

IR on the camera is terrible, ICR is good. EDIT: 30* IR LEDs would help a bunch, still I would rather have IR seperate. There should be no difference between ICR and ICR2, I don't understand how there really could be. The filter is infront of the imager or it's not. ICR cameras will generally smoke all digital Day/Night cameras.

Need help selecting video proposal. Please give your input.

5-6 is radically different from 100-120. Yes activity at the school is totally different there, it might work if you can get the parents to come to you. Kinda doubt that one though... -
It will smoke the none ICR cams ass.

Nope it's legit, few can handle this properly. I still don't like their proposal but they are correct in that aspect, if flat out will not work with a normal networked DVR. You will have to do authentication and streaming remotely. -
I would probably say the GV800 has the highest quality per frame. (Never played with the 2004 or 2008, probably better still.) However Avermedia is garbage in garbage out with IP cams which are also progressively scanning. So big budget, its Avermedia and multi megapixel without much doubt. No NTSC\VGA system compares. However there are loads of NVR software that does the same thing. The trend seems to be offload the encoding to the cameras. If Avermedia continues to support more and more feature packed cams... Their pricing structure already makes them very interesting. Compared to the big named NVR softwares anyway. It's also a true hybrid and Avermedia actually makes their cards and writes their own software. This is a very good combination from a quality standpoint. So see the more you know about this crap the more uncertain you become. Very complicated when you add features into the equation. I know there are certain customer requests that would point me one way or the other, thats what it's really all about. What part where and why (or where not to put IR ). You have to know all 3. Its really all about the limitations, the specifiations are pretty meaningless unless you have basic needs customers. The absolute highest quality would come from the theater PC side, that would be either the Nvidia DualTV (discontinued) or the PVR500 (buttloads more support) both are realtime with stereo and support 2 feeds. The PVR500 can actually be used in a 6 or 8 channel 60fps configuration but nobody makes software for that. They are also hardware MPEG2 encoders so you would need mega storage. Basically half a GV2004 and no software. The best test of a DVR is probably terminator 3. Liquidude and the misc explosions make for some really dynamic scenes, the fluidity of the credits. As a mega bonus it's highly repeatable, no camera or adjustment or FOV factors. Only the MPEG2 decoder in the DVD player to account for. I don't see anyone making streamers in resolutions higher then VGA anytime soon so comparing IP cams will be much more difficult and yet another specification/limitation game.

Then start looking at more providers. -
They are pretty different, it depends on what you need to do. There are things each won't do and things both don't do or it's crazy expensive to do.
-
That looks pretty legit to me, that blurry area in the last pic is that a GV hologram? I'm thinking you need to restart your install, fdisk and use y8 drivers then install v8. If rory knows something I don't about these (and he very well could!) I think it's a used card that got onto ebay. Worst case you still have a card with 4 conexant 878a encoders, so it's good for 120fps MPEG2 in hardware. You may well be able to find alternative interfaces for it.

Probably pirate, can you get a pic of the board itself?

Need multiple user web based video system for Daycare parent
CollinR replied to violator's topic in Computers/Networking
It really doesn't mtter much you are going to need to use something else to restrict access to the DVR. The Avermedia is as good as any other but having the volume of people online means massive redesign of how these things work. The guy thats charging you $100/mo for hosting it is probably legit. I dunno about his hardware but he has the only system that might possibly work right. That is unless an OC12 was hidden in there somewhere and I missed it. -
and you are not storing video on c:\?
-
And what about powering the cameras with it?
-
looking for suggestion on a very good low light dome cam
CollinR replied to griffonsystems's topic in Security Cameras
Yeah somewhat overkill, indoors you can use the lower part# with ABF and 24 hour but no WDR. Unless the area is dark but well lit by an overhead door behind the scene or something. Eyeball the VWCF294.
