I know around here you need a responce time that makes them very difficult to cover for a startup. -

If you already have the analog PTZs you should look at the Geovision video server. It supports 2 cameras, PTZ, 4 I and 4 O. -
You will but you need to turn overlay off, v8 has a specific option for RDP users. Not nearly as bandwidth friendly, should be done over LAN.

Are you saying this happens when you try to change the ports on the server (DVR #2+) or when you try to change them on the Control Center system?

Welcome to the site Nancy, I hope you enjoy your time here.

Just wondering, are you saying this did not happen before it joined the domain? ie Only and issue when it is a domain member?

Yup RadioShack has 1amp units for $15-20. Also though as was pointed out, these are 12amp units. Thats a pretty big power supply.

Here ya go. http://www.wikihow.com/Convert-a-Computer-ATX-Power-Supply-to-a-Lab-Power-Supply I'm not saying weather or not I am going to suggest doing it.

If this isn't an invasion of privacy I don't know what is. No dealer would install a camera like that.

There is a guy in the UK who makes a CS>35mm adapter, then you can use any pro photo lenses. Might be worthwhile checking out, I looked into it during your original LPR cam thread. Also certain lenses lend themselves to the pop on style filters.

I have a customer that needs one of these, however I have no clue as to the value. Actually my customer needs a switcher with looping outputs, a fraction of that units capabilities.

Excessive noise in picture? I have seen that make Geo do strange things.

How long should a B&W dome last? MTBF on average?
CollinR replied to Gyro Gearloose's topic in Security Cameras
You get what you pay for! Don't buy no-name Chinese trash and it will last. -
Dude you built a functional LPR cam for like $50, don't quit that easy. I pro photographer may well be able to put you spot on, or let you test in their studio.

Polarization filters, you can see through shiney stuff like glass and water. Not the easiest thing to set up one shot though, so I kinda doubt it's something you'll want to do for fun. As a product though it's not as big a deal to spend a couple thousand on various filters to match your camera. You could get lucky though, might ask soneone at your local photography place.

Problem with Diginet Site and DDNS
CollinR replied to segurcommyd's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
This is what you need to do. Install their client software and try to get it running, when you get stimped post back and I/we'll help. It's not too difficult of a process to get going. English is good, no worries. -

Pelco IP 110 is not explosion proof, I think you'll be had pressed to find one that is. -
Are the machines identical? If so you only need the labor for one, just ghost it and restore to the others. It really shouldn't take much labor to get them going, do they have XP Pro on them? Also something else doesn't add up, if they are 7-8 years old they shouldn't have celeron 2.4s, that makes them more like 3 years old at most. Are you loading supplied software or downloading it? Can't find keypro is IIRC a v7 thing, those machines are pre v7 and as such probably will need older software. Once you know the version of the card you'll know more. Do you have the key? If not that too points towards pre keypro software. The boards themselves have a version number on them, that should help figure it out. It could also mean post keypro software should be used. Next time you are onsite feel free to call me, I'll PM my #. I just can't see labor adding up to anything like the cost of a dedicated 32 channel unit. Not to mention the performance hit...

You can buy acrylic domes and columns, you could just make your own. Then the PTZ is never actually in contact with the water. Somebody makes a DIY aquarium that supposedly you sit under and put your head through a dome in the floor. You could assemble that putting the bottom plate in upside down. Then all you need to do is make the top cover waterproof and ancor it out there. EDIT: Maybe something like this. http://www.praecogito.com/~brudy/zaza/pictures/photos/DCP00198-2-0.shtml

You want to scatter the light evenly if possible, like pro photographers do by bouncing light and shooting through mediums. Basically make an (incorrect) assumption that the camera sees a pencil beam. You don't want much light parallel to that pencil beam. Often when I do use IR I wind up pointing it in an odd direction, bouncing it off the walls or ceiling works well. Unfortunately IR lights usually aren't that powerful so bouncing them outdoors doesn't work too well as eventually you do want it to bounce off the subject and back to the camera. The best bet is to just use conventional lighting wherever and whenever possible. A 13 watt CF produces quite a bit of light for not too much $, maybe someday 2 or 5 watt CFs will be available.
-
Is that an alien or a wolfman? IR on the cam suxs!!! Scuit, why not another BW box??? You already know you like it, use a color camera to capture car color by day and some night. You don't really gain much by having color and it screws everything up.

I would probably fix whats broken and call it good myself. You might try and upgrade them but being that old you would be upgrading to an old version. Still 8 year old Geovision systems smoke most standalones so I would not make a radical change. If you wanted, you could upgrade the motherboards, CPUs, RAM, HDDs and power supply. Thats basically a new machine, should easily get another 8 years out of it.

Also how is the power supply to thr cameras? Can this be attibuted to anything not so obvious? Happens when big ol AC or refer compressor fires up on the other side of the wall.
