Avermedia NV5000 4x4 =16ch?
CollinR replied to Ubon94's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
its very easy .. let me know what you need to know Any command line interfaces, sendmessage interfaces oractivex messages it responds to. That and getting a video stream out of the system, even if it's MJPEG. -
Which one are you looking at?

All the Aver cards are hybrids now, it all done in software. Aver will support basically any JPG camera over an HTTP interface. This makes it not as desirable as some softwares that support it's FTP interface which is much faster. IP has different effects on framerate then what you might expect.

Avermedia NV5000 4x4 =16ch?
CollinR replied to Ubon94's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Their cheapest card has a DSP output, thats really what got my interest away from Geo. Behind that the web services of the Aver is easier to play with then Geo's. Basically for me I was highly interested in the ease of integrating CCTV into other software or larger control systems. Aver CCTV software doesn't play nice with most TV tuners. Geo's does just fine. Geo has better motion detection and better IO control. If Geo had an easy to use web services I would never think of anyone else, I just need direct access to the video streams. It seems it's very difficult to do with Geo. -

NV5000 also supports HD CCTV whereas the NV3000 maxes at something like 800*600. Also the NV5000 can support many IP cameras (1 per port) whereas the NV3000 can only support 1. Rory, PM me and we'll share some. -

SOLVED - Installing MultiView and ViewLog from a USB stick.
CollinR replied to photys's topic in Geovision
They are pretty easy to find on the original install disc. -
It'll probably need real help, like sending it to GE. Unless they have another process to flash it that still works.

Ditto, assuming you have a standard for set for plates.

License for surveillance installs in texas?
CollinR replied to jstory's topic in General Digital Discussion
Thats depends on the state and possibly local code. In OK you can install LV stuff with no license at all. Alarms, CCTV and access control all require licenses. -
Thats it, it probably beeps at you too. It thinks there is a problem with the system a reboot might fix.

License for surveillance installs in texas?
CollinR replied to jstory's topic in General Digital Discussion
Yes you need a license, google is a good friend to have. It's either Public Safety or the Dept of Health. If I had specifics I would give them but you are better off searching and finding it from the horses mouth. IIRC 2 years as an installer working for a licensed CCTV company, then some money, then you can get a managers licenese. Then to start a company you must have a licensed manager, liability insurance requirement, then a bunch more $. Then you have a licensed business. IIRC $5k fine for each job performed without a license or using unlicensed personell. -
Streaming Live Video on a web page

You can build the site based on your customer base, then they login to the website it knows their DVR IDs. Use a DynDNS service to assign their DVR IDs to your DynDNS account. Now have the site formulate the customer URL as id+.whateveryourdomainis.TLD the only variables are the ID and port information if multiple DVRs are on the same network. This goes hand in hand with your billing and promo systems as you only have one customer base. I have never heard of eneo, since you used to be a web dev and can't figure this out I don't know what to tell you. -
performance challenge to dvr card manufactures
CollinR replied to coolcut's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
This is what I gathered from that... --- 1. I am a security professional thats been installing alarms for a long time. 2. I have bought PC hardware for CCTV capture. 3. I followed the installation instructions for the hardware and have had less then desirable results. 4. I have repeated #2 and #3 at least twice. --- It's not surprising to me that this is the opinion he has. This is more about an understanding of technology as a whole rather then just building PCs that can record video. You need to have a firm knowledge of many areas before you can build highly reliable systems. I would accept the challenge if it had an order behind it. This guy wants something cheap and as such I think he probably cut corners that shouldn't be cut. Areas you should not cut corners... #1 The hardware you use, use high quality reliable hardware, don't buy the bargin bin power supplies, RAM, motherboards. Save money by reducing the performance level of the quality parts if needed. (ie P4 Core Duo vs. Celeron, do you really need an SLi board, ECC Buffered or not, CL3 vs CL5?) #2 Choose the DVR hardware carefully, usually it's hard and software will be the functional limitations of your system. No-names and cheap eBay stuff is not the way to go. Also MAKE SURE IT'S LEGIT!!! #3 The disk image, develop a focused disk image and spend much time perfecting it. Don't expect to install XP Home OEM and then go through hardware setup. It'll work but it's far from the right way to do things. Same goes for your *nix flavors however those guys are usually doing it as it's much easier for them to do it right. -

You might also not be aware you can simply add a hyperlink to the DVR's webserver. Far from fully integrated but workable. Optionally you could also use an HTML frame or PHP include to wrap the DVR interface. This should work even with a Geovision DVR however you'll still have the original DVR interface just with a custom header. -
need help in CCTV data storage
CollinR replied to flyingxspirit's topic in General Digital Discussion
If you have 20 DVRs each with 16 cameras going you really need to figure this out. I would be looking towards NAS, just Samba boxes with gigabit ethernet and several HDDs. Right now 500GB drives are at a pretty sweet price point. -
Do you have any other GV applications on the LAN? TwinDVR, Multicast, Control Center, Command Center, even Multiview. Do your router logs show the requests coming from the outside? Owners/ Supervisors with remote access?

Naw you turn in a puss and start pleading for your life, not a bad position to draw or shoot from.

Buya quality cable, look for ferrites at each end. I have a 15' that has problems and a 100' that doesn't.
-
You might also choose h.264 for WAN streaming, this will drop some bandwidth usage.

Just link the real webserver to the webserver on the DVR. Some DVRs make this easy and some make it a royal PITA (Geovision). -
I lost more then that in that storm however I never compared the times. Thats very intersting no doubt. Also my cell phone died while I was using it, same storm wasn't overhead at the time.

IR is for stealth thats it. If you think you can cover a car park with one cam you are sadly mistaken. Why not color at the entrances/exits and BW for overviews and numer plate. I wouldn't use IR period if you can have conventional lighting.
