I like the P5GZ-MX because: 1. It's and Asus 2. It has lot of hackability for an OEM system builder. 3. It has on board video, the Intel graphics accelerator has proven to me to be comparable with ATI and Nvida for CCTV DVRs (may well take my home theater business too). No for gaming, not at all! 4. It's actually cheaper. All of those things are also in common with the P5L-MX, I would expect it to perform great as well.

whats the diffrents in bw and color
CollinR replied to ayalas's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You were dead on, if you don't know the difference you have no business designing systems. Have a pro design it and you run the wires and mount the mounts. -
I didn't know Dell had a deal with Intel, I do know Dell dopped the contract with Microsoft. Thats why you can now get no OS systems and IIRC FreeDOS and Linux.

Police Interrogation Rm audio cut off visual signal switch?

List exactly how many inputs and outputs you need. All of this can be done inside geovision but youmay need the GV-NETIO or the NETIO and an input and relay controller. The GVNETIO has 4 in and 4 out. If you need more there GV is the GVIO 12 in and the GVIO 12 out. The GVIO has 8 inputs and 16 outputs and works and installs well with thr GV-Relay. PM me if you want more info, I can design it so there is one toggle outside the room. Flipping that toggle engauges your 2 lights (1 blinking!), switches the mic and starts recording. -
I have never seen an ADSL connection that actually hit more then 100Kb up so I already think you are doing okay. SDSL and T1+ yes but never a ADSL connection. I admit however I push cable internet so I have alot more knowledge of it. I actually though there was a technical limit to ADSL uploads at about 500Kb, SDSL 3008Kb and VDSL ~50Mb. You might want to verify that the ISP hasn't given you a very common 1.5Mb/128Kb connection. A connection test wil do that for you, quick, easy and free. On the server how did you set up the video transmission? 16 cams at 320 in H.264 may not take more then 100Kb to transmit. Also on the client, you have to manually say 640x480 deinterlace if thats what you want. EDIT: I'm thinking your ISP is full of it, ATT.com says the fastest they can provide is 768Kb. Actually they say 512Kb-768kb, I'm thinking the 512Kb is more likely, the 282 sample 7 day average is 429Kb.

Test that upload speed from the server.

I cant see new added cameras on the main display
CollinR replied to alterelectronica's topic in Geovision
In the camera activate screen make sure "limit to port" is set high enough to allow the cameras. Then you should be able to give access to them. -
Not missing anything, you need one of the IO components. GVNETIO card is what I suggest if you have an extra expansion slot in your PC case (doesn't need a PCI slot). PM me if you get stumped I have doe a comple few of these and I'm tring to do more and more complex installations.

Also make sure your user has access to them. -
Need camera suggestions (with environment/requirements)

You want either a full on box camera or an outdoor dome (probably vandal proof to get the weatherproof factor). I have a vandal dome thats a true day/night thats what I would consider budget but it's not really what I would consider close you your budget. For brands I suggest Panasonic and GE, if you apply the right specs to either of those manufacturers you'll be satisfied. -
Might look at this. http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16813131088 About a quarter of your budget, better brand and it has everything on board just add your CPU, RAM and a HD. Spend the extra ~$140 on a good UPS.

what is your method of installing
CollinR replied to jisaac's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
That reminds me, this last year was a bad one for me: 1.) Found copperhead nest in like crawlspace, lucky only got hit once. 2.) August heatwave, had heat stroke in attic luckly I fell through into the AC. All around installing wire sucks but I haven't had problems like those before. -
Ask the guy who made you redo it. This can vary from county to county too BTW.

Have them configure the router to forward outside port 81 to inside port 80. Then have the customer manually add the port in the address bar. http://cus.tom.er.ip:81

I would say unlikely to happen, make it $150 and B/W okay and it's possible. -
Never really been sold on NVR's...yet

Buy an IR emitter and put it up to help. Either way I don't see you being able to identify anyone at the car or gate from that setup. A wide angle like you have could be backed up by a tight shot on the gate for identification.

Because the pulley is mounted hopefully to a structural beam almost directly above the DVR the wire that runs through it won't go overtop the beam and the tails will be hanging through a ceiling tile. Thats not cool excpet for in certain instances. Once you disconnect the pulley the coax will be on the top of the tiles which isn't up to code, just throw them over the beam the pulley was mounted to and then drill into the wall header behind the DVR. Tape a powerful magnet to a length of pull cord and drop it down the header. Use another magnet to guide it to your hole if you have to. Tape your coax to the other end of the pull cord and thread it through the wall for a nice clean appearence. If you have your power supply above the DVR you might need to do this twice seperating the siamese after pulling it through the power supply hole. EDIT: Here is a reasonable example of the style pully I am talking about. http://www.etrailer.com/pc-PB~SW7750A.htm?utm_source=yshop&utm_medium=ppc&Affiliate=yshop Mine appears lighter and a whole lot cheaper ~$25. You can use this style at the DVR but you have to thread the coax back through it so it can only be used at the ends of a run. This example is also too small as it might allow for 4 runs at a time if you are lucky. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92308 http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=92308

It's really not that simple each has advantages in specific areas. generally though for low cost color cameras CCD will be superior. A) They are phyiscally different, I'm not going to detail it in a forum post. Basically they are totally different means to the same goal. B) You have a BS Ebay camera. C) Remote meaning RS485 data? Remote menaing IR? Basically if you bought your cam on Ebay it's not going to be cost effective to make it a pan/tilt.

An old shopping card, couple of scrap pieces of conduit and a twist open pulley are a lifesaver. Just put the spool in the cart and run a piece of conduit through it. Directly over the DVR put the pulley pull all your runs out and then disco the pulley and fish the wires down the wall. 1000' rolls I only use if the single run is over 500' which for me is somewhat rare (usually gone to Cat5 at that point), otherwise I use the 500's which aren't exactly light either. EDIT: I have also gotten some 500' pull boxes that worked ~okay~, coleman cable IIRC.

You should install windows on C and format the other 64k NTFS. Install Geo using the defaults and once complete in the config dead center it allows you to choose if it recycles of kill on date. Right there is the config for the video storage, choose a folder on D. DONE.

Can you remote into it? Also he should have to know your admin password to edit anything in your admin profile.

Keep the 24VAC whenever possible, use a 24VAC to 12VDC stepdown. IR and bullets is basically all I do at 12VDC anymore.
