Can't help on the manual but that slider is for fractional motion detection. Before you could only choose whole numbers, on the left that slider is .0 middle .5. It allows you to fine to MD to keep falses down.

I don't break it down hourly, basically I take an educted guess and double it.

New hard drive and Geovision system now all messed up!
CollinR replied to Arockerdude's topic in Geovision
In the evidence case, thats the real bonus to Geo systems, they videos are readable and stored locically in the filesystem. -
All of them up to GV-800 are. I will only use those chips in my theater systems due to their high quality picture. Really you can't tell which is the analog feed from the digitized version, even after running it through Divx.
-
Salt with the crow? GV-800 You can't read it in the pic but the encoders say Conexant Fusion 878. Combo card Obviously says "Techwell" on the encoders, IIRC thats a Samsung product. Like I said before the 2004 and 2008 have heatsinks so you can't easily read what they are but the Conexant Fusions can only do MPEG2.
-
My bad the 2004 and 2008 use a different ecoder and may well be able to do MPEG4 with hardware. All the Geo cards have some level of hardware compression going on, most are based on the Conexant Fusion and they go to MPEG2. Geovision's software is what keeps the GV100-800 from doing straight hardware MPEG2 compression, the hardware is on the board. This is also probably why people say the quality on the GV-800 is better then the combo cards. The GV-1120 and up (dunno about the 2004 and 2008 as they have heatsinks on their encoders) are not using Conexant's fusion encoders. My theater systems use the same basic hardware but don't multiplex so you only have 1 channel A+V per chip.
-
What are you tring to do? I'm pretty sure the 2004 & 2008 only do hardware compression to MPEG2. Thats the same thing the GV-800 does it just won't let you stop there, it forces you to transcode to something else. On my home theater systems MPEG2 in all it's glory lays down about 2.5 GB per hour, so if you leave the 2004 or 2008 in MPEG2 mode across 4 channels a 250GB you'll be lucky to get a weeks worth of recording on MD. On 24/7 it'll eat 250GB per day!

Monitoring through a window gives me an indoor reflection :(

I am working on something like this myself. I am supposed to be building a bid for a store thats on an old mainstreet. The storefont is only about 15-20' wide and has a BS wooden awning across the entire front. The awning is only about 10' up and the whole thing is 100 year old rock structure. Basically I am going to try and build a housing that butts right up to the glass and seals out all the surrounding light. -
DVR rebooting itself
CollinR replied to chewingyu's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
If it is setup to auto reboot (I don't do that) it will reboot like clockwork. Same time everyday or same time span between reboots, it shouldn't be a random thing. -
Problem connecting to Webcam from outside of firewall
CollinR replied to mariner's topic in Geovision
You can always go to http://network-tool.com to get your current public IP, it's the default value in that search box. -
Problem connecting to Webcam from outside of firewall
CollinR replied to mariner's topic in Geovision
In the Geo config make sure the Webcam box is checked, then restart geovision. It should say Web in the blue box on the R side of the screen. -
I don't know the specs but yes it is a visable light bandpass filter that blocks UV and IR light from the CCD. In night mode the filter (or mirror) is moved to allow all light through. This is only on color cameras, BW cameras don't need a filter as they don't reproduce colors that would be scewed by the other light frequences our eyes can't see. If you don't want to pay for a REAL day/night camera just go with a quality BW model.

Choosing a power supply box, do i go with fuses or fuseless?
CollinR replied to osity's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The ptc boxes I use have a reset per port so it doesn't trip all the cameras. -
PTZ camera picture fades in and out during panning motion.
CollinR replied to wildmack's topic in Security Cameras
It's probably called a rotary union, never seen one sold small enough for a PTZ cam but obiously they exist. -
Try changing the codec from H264 (IIRC encodes video diagonally) to standard MPEG 4 and see if there is any change.

PCI EXPRESS CARD/DVR PROBLEM????
CollinR replied to nalexia's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Pretty sure it's the ebay DVR card. First off in the pic you can only see 4 encoders, thats 120 fps rather then the 240 they are advertising. Heck the same guy is selling pirated Geovision products. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300064687250&ssPageName=MERC_VI_RSEE_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=300064381320&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=active_view_item&usedrule1=UpSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget -

It has options for moving the window (windows actually, looked like it covered all the GV apps) but I didn't play with it enough to really answer your question. -
Do you have an AI lense? Is it configured correctly? DC vs. VD

Its that app in the other thread, I played with it for a split second. Looks very interesting for multiple displays. -
Yeah for that budget go BW, you can't get a decent REAL day night with resolution for $139.00.

One computer, Two monitors and run diff, prgrams on the two
CollinR replied to Arockerdude's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You are doing it right, you shouldn't see a start menu or icons on the second display. I have never used the dmpos.exe app before but I am guessing thats what will position the geo window, you might wait for cmf to chime back in. I'll probably find that app and play with it later though.
