Power supply for eight Nuvico CBSD3895
CollinR replied to eric9547's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
It's dual voltage and I hope you meant part# CVSD3895. Like I said on the phone you want a power supply per building and outdoor Cat5 between them. -

You don't need plenum cabling, go Cat5. -
1U rack mountable DVR security case
CollinR replied to SanDiegoPCHelp's topic in Digital Video Recorders
No joke I built a 1U DVR once and vowed never to again, I am 4U all the way now baby!!! Big space, big drives, big power makes them very nice to have even if you put a mini ITX system inside it. -
megapixel with IR illuminators?
CollinR replied to jhonovich's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Its lika ny other camera however focus shift is 10x worse on megapixel cameras as the depth of focus is already so bad to start with. So I would look at something with dual 1/2" imagers and make your IR kicks on before the camera switches to monochrome mode. -
Well I have built many Aver boxes and not once used Vista and I don't forsee myself using vista anytime soon. If anything I would much prefer to go Linux then Vista but unfortunately there isn't a massive amount of Linux hybrid CCTV servers. I would start by looking at the task manager and see where your system resources are going. If you can't find that look at your storage situation on and on.
-
Why not fix whatever was slowing you down on XP? Vista on a DVR is not a good idea all the extra GUI fluff just gets in the way. Also as you have found vista's network stack is different and seems to break just about everything I have ever tried to use with it. It'll just take time for the world to bend to M$'s desires.

Arecont Vision has released a full line of H.264 cameras...

Awesome!!! -
You would be better off trading mainboards then tring to use a hardware card as it's probably going to have the same if not more issues. Whatever you do when you design a DVR system you must use the specified hardware. I have not seen a DVR that really reccomends AMD CPUs or anything other then an Intel Northbridge which is really what this all comes down to. You can't find a mainboard with an AMd socket and an Intel northbridge controller.
-
Yup thats the problem. Number one on the hardware list. "CPU: Pentium 4 3.0 GHz or higher" Stick to Intel over Intel for all CCTV DVRs, no need to go with latest and greatest hotrod stuff just a core2 and 945 plus chipset. They do list a singe AMD/Nforce combo on thier tested configurations but I would HIGHLY urge you to go Intel over Intel for stability.

List your CPU, chipset and display adapter used.
-
You shouldn't install IR cams inside housings or domes. The tube method mentioned previously is probably your best bet.
-
CPU, chipset or display adapter is not up to the minimum required. This only happens in preview mode, you are running D1, and have a camera fullscreen? This is not seen in playback? Basically I can reproduce it both in preview and in playback if you overstress the hardware components enough. Lokk at the reccomended hardware and see if you have anything not on the list.

I sell Avermedia stuff and have an open box PTZ around here somewhere. Pelco D and Pelco P are the most common and are supported, this list is quite long. If your PTZ uses rs485 and is not on the listed protocols Avermedia provides the ability for dealers to add new PTZ protocols if you can aquire them from the manufacturer. Either way I have a nicer PTZ also on demo through an Avermedia setup. A VERY cool function with the Avermedia systems is they can use input from any HID joystick to control the domes. This alone is a nice savings as most controllers cost as much as an NV5000. You want the most basic joystick you can get though, just a stick and a couple of buttons. If you have rudder it will work the zoom but makes the dome much more difficult to control. The on screen overlay controls from Aver are IMO very nice as well. Avermedia can support multiple COM ports or multiple protocols on a single COM port. This too is a nice expense saving function as many (IIRC Geovision too) cannot control 2 or 3 protocols on a single COM port. This comes into play if you have multiple cameras from different makes. Only one user can have the PTZ controls of any camera up at any point in time. This is logical behavior however it can be frustrating at times.

no doubt if I were to install one it would be a WV-CW974, more money but much smarter then any other I have played with. If you have 2 they can track from 1 cam to another. Demo video
-
If you are serious the only option I know of is the Panasonic, but still it's not overly smart and it cost x3 what you linked to.

Control Center is probably your best bet.

Getting access to "Running a security business" Se
CollinR replied to secure101's topic in Questions about this site
Thats the minimum requirements, I was here a year and had several hundred posts before I got access. -
This stuff only really works well in indoor applications. Often they will track the largest moving object which is not always what you want. It is soo much dumber then a human operator it's not even funny. You must make it's job very simple.

I demoed it, it's not bad has a pretty good learning curve to it. I think the licensing cost is rather excessive. In the end I would up using good old paintshop pro, it doesn't generate accurate FOV overlays and whatnot but it gets the point across to the customer or the installer depending on the situation. I think it's very worthwhile software I just think the license fee is too great. -
It's called Dynamic DNS or DDNS, get a linksys router and register a name with dyndns.com.
-
You might like this too for only $39 too. Noticed it is an HD device so anything that recognizes generic joysticks should not require any drivers at all.
-
Try an arecont 3mp with it's glass filter removed and an IR pass filter installed.

What camera and what DVR? Many will allow for presets to be triggered from IO.
