Okay it looks as though Avermedia has released some new stuff, both hardware and software! New DVR software 7.3.0.0013! Click and choose your hardware to download from Avermedia.com. Sounds like some solid advancements and the limitations are no big deal to me if not completely obvious. Also some super cool new hardware available! AVerDiGi E-I/O Box http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=75 I have been waiting for something like that from Avermedia for quite some time. Very glad to see the IO gap gone. AVerDiGi System Controller http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=7 Also a few more general PC related goodies, USB>Ethernet, IDE>SATA check it out.

Image quality problem with NV5000 and Nuvico camera
CollinR replied to ChristianKohler's topic in AverMedia
If it goes away when you set it to CIF resolution I'm thinking it's the display adapter. -
Works for me.

What mainboard and what display adapter? -
Employed with company 3 years, refusing to pay me.

I didn't read all of this but the first thing you should do is contact the dept of labor. These guys can get so far up his @$$ it's not funny. Also note you cannot file bankruptcy against the government, in this case they are representing you. I have been there and done that, they had my $ in a matter of weeks. -
What do i need to start a CCTV/ALARM company
CollinR replied to TMJALARMSNATE's topic in General Digital Discussion
In most states you need a licensed company manager to get the company licensed. Thats before you can do anything, including subcontracted or sale/design and subcontract to someone else. -
If you have DSL as your ISP they give you a list of #s for dialup access while not at home. I would think you could probably get enough guys togther to poll those and make this happen without much if any effort or cost.
-
Free and paid basically work the same way, however if you are a dealer the paid side allows you to use your own domain rather then their list. A bunch of other options too but functionally the basics work the same.

how can i have onscreen temperature display?
CollinR replied to alpine0000's topic in General Digital Discussion
Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. If you shop wisely you can probably score that for ~$450, the bonus is you would have a bunch of unmentioned capabiltity as well. In my case I used an Applied Digital Ocelot which is for all intensive purposes a PLC for home use. Add to it's rs485 network a SECU16 and you have 8 A/D inputs or 8 digital inputs plus 8 digital outputs. The same setup rs485 network supports both temp, humidity and ASCII output. You can either use the prepackaged temperature bobcat or use your own probe and the SECU16. The text inserter would just be whatever you can find thats cheap. -
Under network setup enable bandwidth limit and set it to like 10mbps and it will also improve LAN usage too.

Its not just GV cards it's anything that taxes the PCI bus enough. I have seen it work okay with the GV800 and below. Definately get a different mainboard.

Power Supply Help - They Are So Confusing
CollinR replied to GAtkins's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I would go with a PS in a can and put the can somewhere else out of the way. Nothing says the PS and the display need to be close to each other. Normally I do keep the DVR and PS together but it's not required and what you are atalking about doing is radically cheaper in a can as opposed to a rackmount. Also if like me you have a rack cabinet to put this stuff in, you can buy a 4U rack case and put a canned PS inside it. Now you still have the rackmount and cool factor but costs less far less if you buy a used server and gut it. -
Might try an RC car, you could make a follower cable strong enough to pull the sucker back if you had to.

D1 only too, kinda takes the fun out of it.

whats the best way to do remote viewing?
CollinR replied to cctvunderonenation's topic in Computers/Networking
I charge $250 extra if the customer has a 2wire modem and will not have the phone company swap it out before I get there. Then I put the 2wire into bridge mode and install a router with DDWRT behind it. The 2wire from then on is simply a modem and the new router will take control of the LAN. -
I can do it on PC systems but it makes the process take quite a while and you can only have about 3 hours of video. Then you have the issue of which camera and whatnot. It's a PITA that I would try to avoid if possible.

Elk Gaurd, Ademco LynxR-I with GSML the Elk Gaurd claims it can run for 90 days without power. You should be able to buy an extra battery and just change them out. If you have a phone a regular Lynx would do but I'm thinking it's battery life is much shorter.

Stop you guys, the OP is getting little help with the topic and it's going in a bad direction.

how can i access the private forum
CollinR replied to funnyfung's topic in Questions about this site
Also keep in mind I was here for well over a year and had well over 100 posts before I got in. I also provided state and federal documentation and was rejected, it's more about the quantitiy and quality of your posts rather then a minimum post count. -
Post a price.

Have them look at a moving object and you will find their flaws. They rely on DSS for their low light capabilities and IMHO have taken it too far.

Paul and I are both talking about adding media content to the iphone/ipod programatically. They provided no command line interface for itunes too. The phone itself doesn't support copy/paste.
-
x2 and no copy/paste??? WTF NO COPY/PASTE??? Thats just silly!

Digia DVR, Bellsouth DSL - odd remote view problem
CollinR replied to WMills's topic in Computers/Networking
Yes you can have issues playing with a WAN connection to the LAN you are currently on. Linksys routers are smart enough to see the WAN request (DDNS is always a WAN request) and realize this is in reality local. Most will forward you seemlessly once DNS has resolved the IP address as it's own. -
Why so hard to get PDA client support for DVRs?
CollinR replied to Dr. CCTV's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Don't forget many don't run windows or IE and DVR manufacters seem to be slaves to microsoft. The real question is "Why does my DVR remote connection only work with XP and possibly Vista?"
