  1. This is the biggest issue with auto-tracking: unless it's driven by some VERY advanced analytics, with a LOT of programming by the user on how that particular user wants to prioritize things, it really has no way of knowing what object the user would really want it to track. Frankly, I think auto-tracking is largely a gimmick and I suspect unless you dump six figures into it, the customer would end up being disappointed at best, frustrated at worst, with the results. A better idea would be a panoramic high-megapixel camera that simply records everything around it and lets you zoom in after the fact, wherever you want. +1 I have installed Bosch and Panasonic. It was an embarrassment when the Bosch missed a UPS truck driving into the driveway. The truck was 40 feet away from the dome.
  2. No you would not use the LPF model unless you ONLY want to see license plates.... you would order the normal day/night version Sorry I misdirected you. What I meant is if Bosch IR Illuminator is used, then need (2) night lens? But if that is the case, since the night lens is only 1MG, lost out on 3mp?
  3. So this is all due to not mechanical IR cut filter. So if IR illuminator like the Bosch FLED60 is used, order (2) night lens? But wouldn't that negate the 3mp of day?
  4. I feel less stupid, even before having coffee! You guys are professors.

    DVR upgrade advice needed

Since my grandma is now my summer employment agent , I just got recruited for another project. Again, I turn to you guys for direction. Another one of Grand’s friends. For his business, he has a decent system. ( dedicated Micros HyperD camera attached to a watchdog Vmax8. http://www.dedicatedmicros.com/europe/products_details.php?product_assoc_id=305&product_id=193 http://www.dwcc.tv/productsDVRS.asp?showme=Stand Aloneshowcat=yes&showitem=yes&rid=83 His rack fell and crushed the DVR. One of the few user that actually put his DVR to full use. He watches everyday and also remote via free DDNS from his house. He wants to purchase another Digital Watchdog. The group that installed the system has not returned his calls for 2 weeks. So now his son is involved and tell him the following (2) are far superior. From the spec, worth the huge price difference? http://www.dwcc.tv/productsDVRS.asp?showme=Stand Alone&showcat=yes&showitem=yes&rid=81 http://www.dwcc.tv/productsDVRS.asp?showme=Stand Alone&showcat=yes&showitem=yes&rid=55 Thanks for yall help.

    DVR upgrade advice needed

When was that? DM has always cost alot more then kaletel/ge dvrs since ive been in the biz. There are alot better DVRs then all of those now anyway, coming out of Korea, and for alot less cost. $ wise, DM DVRs have never been more than Kalatel/GE Symdec DVRs. I was nervous having $40K of dvrs ($8K/piece for Symdec 16-chan - dealer cost). BTW, we were talking about the analog cameras, not DVRs. GE top of the line cameras are far more expensive than the top of the line DMs.

oh boy, my EBF superior customers, aka engineers, have tried, tried, and tried. They always called in later for DVRs!

    DVR upgrade advice needed

During my installation days. the DM was the economical subsitute to Pelco and Kalatel. I must have installed over 1000s cameras in the school district. Granted, their color is not as good as Pelco, they are BBS (better built shi_). According to my ex boyfriend, for the past 6 years, he has to replace about 20 or so cameras. All due to Ike. He has their fire/burglary accounts so he sees them every year for the fire inspection. Does the Avermedial NVR has bandwith limitation?
  9. Aside from Nuuo stand-alone NVR 2040, 4080..., are their any high-quality similar product? Thanks for your expertise.

Don't mean to Hi-Jack this thread. However, this is within the same subject. Experts, if the eyes can't differentiate between 15-30fps, then why would one purchase a DVR, same maker & reputable brand, that records full D1, 120fps 4-ch video OVER one that records full D1, 60fps 4-ch? The former costs 3 times the latter.

    Any other NVR available?

Sorry to be ignorant but did search and did not find any posts on here of Avermedia 6004 and Qnap NVR-104. I have never heard of these brands. Are they as reliable as Nuuo, which I am familiar with. One of my ex-boyfriend's customer home just got robbed. Contents of the safe - gone. When I was the helper, I helped installed the fire and security system at this company. Since he lived in pricey gated community with patrolling guards, he did not need any security. Until now. The Ex does not really care of the CCTV side cause he is more concerned with MRR and they are months behind with huge projects. He is deciding between the Mototix D12 or the Sanyo HD4000. With (4) of the chosen cameras, now need a stand-alone DVR. He only uses laptop in this house and is emphatic of not wanting any more computer. He does have a wireless router.

Need ideas for housing a security DVR system...

Soundy " title="Applause" /> For the housing, try a gun safe with holes drilled for ventilation and add a static pressure fan. If customer is "concerned" with the integrity of the wire, approached it as a UL-Certified Burglary installation.
  13. Due to the oil spill, there will no one around this area this summer. For her safety, my grandmother has to leave her home and move in with us. She won’t leave without me promising her that her workshop will be protected with cameras while she is gone. Since I am her only grandchild, I made the promise. When in college, I spent (3) summers as helper to my boyfriend who was a commercial CCTV technician. We worked on Pelco, Kalatel, Bosch…. As matter of fact, during my last month, I installed a complete Bosch CCTV system with the BOSS DVR… The issues are following: While she is gone, the electricity in the workshop will be on ONLY 3 hours day, from 1am-4am. Her window AC unit will not be turned on. Power is for the tiny fridge and charging the batteries for camera system. Regarding the power, please don’t ask me why. There is a reason behind this (beyond my comprehension) and can’t argue with rich Grandma. As of yesterday, with AC turned off, the temperature inside her workshop was 124 F. The DVR will be hidden in the workshop. It will record (4) Bosch day/night IR dome. Since we need power, theory wise, I am thinking of having (4) batteries powering the DVR and the cameras. Daily, the 3 hours of power will charge the batteries. My question are: Any DVR out there that would function in this heat/humidity? What type of batteries and ancillary equipment? I would just use a fused Altronic power supply to power the cameras. What is the best way to hook this power supply and the DVR power to the batteries so this would work throughout the summer? Thanks in advance of your expertise.

    Outdoor Camera Housing Question

For 2 summers, I was the helper to my exboyfriend. After the last big hurricane, I must have taken down over 100 of housings due to bad installation or cheap housings. Videoalarm and Pelco ones really weathered well. For really big custom housing, we installed static pressure fan with NO vents. According to him, not one came back bad, so far.

Even with the nice Tatung, Samsung.... CCTV LCDs, they are still not as good as the older tube CCTV monitors. I remember helping my boyfriend taking out all the Tatungs CCTV LCDs and putting back the Pelco tubes because the security chief preferred the pic. We all concurred with the guy. We came back 3 months later with a 20" Bosch CCTV LCD. It was so good that we changed out all the pelco tube to the Bosch.
  17. I used wireless PE beams. Even at the edge of the property, 1300 ft away, the beams activated the cameras and LED flood lights. I used Larson Magnalite LED lights which cost quite a penny. But can't argue with the results.
  18. I went the stand-alone NVR route. Draws 52 watts/1 amp once activated by the cameras. The megapixel picture and its zoom capability wowed even the local patrol officer.
  19. Latest issue hope you guys would rescue. The system is working quite well. Better than expected. I am now up to (10) 8D batteries. Boy I learned so much of DC.... A neighbor 1/3 mile down has power. He has offered to watch the cameras if he can see it on his computer. He does have a router. I am ignorant of wifi.... May I ask how to accomplish this, if possible?

    Static IP to Free DDNS

My neighbor has a PC based DVR with Static IP. Yesterday, I converted it to a free DDNS stand-along DVR. Tech support from AT&T and from the DVR maker were "it is their issue". After being on the phone with them for combined (4) hours, I used the static IP and now the DVR is working perfectly. The issue my neighbor, who is on fixed income, no longer wants to pay for the static IP fee ($30 down here). Would it be easier if my neighbor disconnects the static IP before my return? What steps should I take to accomplish this? Thanks for your expertise.

    Static IP to Free DDNS

Sorry I am confused my self. Doing this as a favor for the neighbor. Prior to my arrival, he has static IP with PC-DVR. That PC-DVR went bad. His CCTV company sent him a stand-alone DVR that offers FREE DDNS. The tech never showed up. I came in and replaced the broken PC-DVR with the FREE DDNS stand-alone DVR. Between AT&T and DVR tech support, I was not able to get the Stand-alone DVR to work without the Static IP. Neighbor wants to remove Static IP because he now has Free DDNS. When I return, what is the quickest way to change from Static IP to Free DDNS? As mentioned, I tried for (4) hours and was NOT successful. Thanks
  22. Gosh we are on the same frequency. But as I searched for LED light, found couple from Magna that consumes 12 watts or 1 amp. I nixed that idea due the power needed.
  23. Guys, thanks for your input. I really appreciate that. Regarding solar, it is a wonderful idea if solar panels are stolen quite often down here. Regarding the alarm system, it is up and running. I installed the panel with PE beams and 1 siren/strobe. For battery, I hooked up (2) D8 batteries and inverter charging the system. We will test it this weekend with the limited (3) hours/day. Keeping my fingers crossed. Regarding the IRs, you are right. Unfortunately, it is pitched black at night. Regarding the DVR, I just have to drive down here weekly and see how well it holds up. Any other input would be appreciated.
