infringer started following CCTV with multiple buildings

I'm looking for some long range cordless telephones to use at our business. I'm looking into Engenius Durafon, just can't really find any reviews, guess those are fairly new. Anyone had any success with a particular brand or know something I could try. I tried searching the net to see if maybe someone had created a cell phone hub type system where i could place a base in several locations and the phone conversation be transferred between the hubs. But no luck. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, -David

A couple more questions
infringer replied to infringer's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
For both Video Insight & Geovision, is the central monitoring an extra piece of software or does it come with the package? Of the install that will be 25 cameras, 12 of those cameras will be on a either timed motion detection or we may even install a button to trigger recording. What those 12 cameras will be used for is to record a vehicle as it is driving through our washing bay, then we can compare it to the last trip through the bay and see when damage occurs. (Vehicles go through the bay before every departure). Thanks! -David -
First off I want to say Thank You to all of you that have helped me so far, this has been my first CCTV project and the wealth of information you guys have provided has helped me tremendously. But to follow that, I have a few more questions. I have a 4 camera setup in one building and another 4 camera setup in a seperate building (will be adding more cameras to each building as we go along as well). In a few months I well have another building to add cameras too and we are looking at about 20-25 cameras for that install. So I have finally decided to go with PC-based DVRs, and have decided that each building will have its own DVR system. These DVRs will mostly be accessed via remote viewing over our LAN (all buildings connected via fiber). I have only seen and read up about Geovision & Video Insight cards, but any other recommendations is good as well. So here are my questions: 1) Are either Geovision or VideoInsight cards stackable? Or do I need to purchase the maximum number of camera possibilities when I order the cards? 2) What is a normal recording frame rate? I don't have to see fluid motions but some of the cameras I need to be able to recognize faces. 3) What is the normal live view frame rate? I would guess that is 30 fps/camera? Here are my general requirements: - Need to be able to have multiple users connected via remote view at the same time. - Playback/Live View/Recording Simulataneously - Would like to be able to see all three DVRs at the same time (central monitoring) I think that will do it for me. Again, thank you for all your help! -David

Couple of Questions
infringer replied to infringer's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Thanks for the help guys, one more question. I saw on the Geovision site that it said Radeon 9550 or better, just wondering if that is required and what exactly for? What I mean is there will be hardly no viewing of the video and stuff at the computer it will mostly be done remotely. So does it have to be such an advanced video card or will something like an onboard video work? Also can all the settings be changed remotely? Thanks! -David -
Couple of Questions
infringer replied to infringer's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
So a decent computer from Dell would work or it wouldn't work? I've seen quite a few posts to stay away from VIA chipsets, how do I know if Dell or HP or another computer manufacturer uses VIA chipsets? B/c chipset is not something that you normally see when ordering a computer. Thanks for all the help guys! -David -
1) Can I use just a regular computer and install a DVR card in it? Or is the hardware specialized hardware? Also, does all the needed software come with the DVR cards? (In general, looking at Geovision). 2) If I purchase say a 8 channel card, and later decide to add more, do I have to purchase a 16 channel card and swap it out or can I just add another 8 channel? 3) Is there a limit to the number of channels? Thanks for all the help guys! -David

OK, I've looked through the tech specs and detailed info on GE's website to try and answer this question, but no luck. On the StoreSafe's, can I add another hard drive to increase storage space or do I have to order the HD's from GE? Thanks for the help, sorry I'm asking so many questions. Possible suggestion: Make a place where someone can start a thread about a particular product, then let the people who have used them post reviews about the product on that thread, then whenever someone has a question about a product they could first go to that place and look at the thread? Also, I can get the GE Storesafe 4 channel 80GB or a Bosch Divar 6-channel 160 GB for $200 difference? Bosch being $200 more than the GE, do both work equally as well? Thanks again! -David

Anyone used Dedicated Micro's Eco4? Is it a decent DVR? Seems to have nice features. Any experience with the device and how it functions is greatly appreciated. Thanks! -David

OK this question may not be appropriate. If so, a mod can delete it. I am a DIY person. I am in the process of installing for my family-owned business. I have currently been making purchases through Security Cameras Direct (www.scdlink.com), but was wondering where else I could make purchases from and not be concerned if I will get the product? I'm not a licensed installer, and will not be making large purchases, so I need to find someone that is willing to sell to consumers like SCD. I will be continually making purchases to add to and improve our system as the years go by, so when I find someone that will help me out, I'll stick with them as long as they continue to help me out. Any tips/hints on where to buy will be great! Thanks! -David

DVR not responding to remote view?
infringer replied to infringer's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Rory, Does the Sanyo 4-channel allow more than one user to be connected at a time? Everyone, Here's what I was looking for in a DVR: Currently only 4-channel (we figured as we add more we'll just add DVR's) Networkable Will record 24/7 Allows remote viewing Date/Time Stamp Ability to playback and the unit continue recording Is there a better place for someone that isn't a licensed installer to purchase products from? Security Cameras Direct (http://www.scdlink.com) is the best place I found, they just had the widest selection. Thanks! -David -
DVR not responding to remote view?
infringer replied to infringer's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Yeah I can access anything on the network. I access via VPN. I'll try ARM again on monday, then I'm going to start calling the company I purchased from and see if they'll let me upgrade to a better product? Maybe the 4channel Sanyo's I see they have them. (I purchased from Security Cameras Direct http://www.scdlink.com) I'm just doing this for my family owned business, so they were the first place that had what I was looking for, and then this looked like a decent DVR. I'm getting a little bit closer now after giving it some time, I am able to get the connection established, but still no images. -David -
DVR not responding to remote view?
infringer replied to infringer's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Yep that's my DVR. Great I was wondering if I got stuck with a lemon type. Gonna see if I can talk to the company I purchased the things through, and see if they will let me send them back and move to a better DVR. Or I could end up having to eat this Who knows. Anyone have suggestions? Preferred name brands on standalone DVRs? Anyone ever tried to work with the DVR and get it working properly? Thanks, -David -
DVR not responding to remote view?
infringer replied to infringer's topic in Digital Video Recorders
No error at all, just goes from "Connecting..." to "Waiting for a connection." Guess I'll just have to wait until Monday and play around with it some more there. Gonna look into what I can do, wish there was some way to upgrade firmware or something. I did find another version of the remote viewer software that I have tried, but no luck there either. Thanks, -David -
Hey guys, I've got a problem. My DVR has stopped responding to remote view? Meaning it is not allowing me access anymore. Does anyone have any clues how to fix this? I know I can reset it Monday morning but that doesn't help me now. I have an ARM Electronics NDVR480G. I also have a few questions. 1) Called ARM tech support to ask a few questions and they said that the remote viewing software could not be installed on a computer with anti-virus??? How dumb is that in today's world? 2) They said only 1 user could be connected at a time? Again how dumb is that. Does anyone have any clues on a way to better this unit? Has anyone used this unit with success or has anyone used it at all? Problems with it. Thanks! Downhearted at the moment -David

Guess I should have specified, plenty of unused fiber strands between all the buildings. And it is multimode fiber. I'm just trying to weigh the cost of video->fiber converters versus the network camera cost. Even considered putting networked DVRs in each building and just accessing them that way, but seems very inefficient to do that. Thanks, -David
