You can connect the cabling spools using simple B Wire crimp connectors if you have access to the joints. You can purchase these which come with a sealant as well for protection. Once all connections are made, use electrical tape to secure the joints and connectors so they don't get damaged during installation. I prefer soldering the connections as well to ensure you have a good electrical connection. You can cover the soldered ends using these B wire crimp connectors (you may have to widen the hole in the B connectors so the wires fit in).

9 volts seems to be an odd power supply for cameras. I would suggest three power supplies rather then one supply. Chances are high that the supply won't have enough power for all three. Plus if you have these cameras going to different locations watch your power cable length as this will affect supply output. If you opt for the one supply, I would look for at least a 1000 ma supply.

Not familiar with the camera you quoted. Does this camera have a synchronization adjustment? Internal or Line-lock? -

This is called the Gorilla Camera Arm and saw it at Bass Pro Shops....used for hunting....don't know how long the rachetting strap is, but imagine you could add a piece depending on tree size.

The Extreme equipment is good but doesn't fit into everyone's budget which is where the WZ line was tailored.....I was told the WZ line was originally targeted for schools and hospitals. Not to diminish its use or clients, but intended for medium scale/financially restrictive budgets. Last week, I reviewed the "glossy" for the new family of integrated Day-Night bullet cameras including the WZ18 and it looked impressive until I found out the price....yikes! Extreme is suppose to unveil these new products at ISC West.....maybe they'll unveil new pricing! I've only used the WZ49 conical no-grip dome cameras with great success for holding cell applications.

Arockerdude, Don't know what your budget and application is, but have used this camera from Panasonic (WV-CW374) on a few of my sites. Only thing it doesn't have is IR ilumination. Weatherproof Outdoor Use Built in fan/heater 8x varifocal (5 - 40mm) 510 line resolution Ultra-sensitive for colour surveillance in light as low as 1 lux (0.1 fc) Mechanical Cut Filter to B/W -
Any images to share? Sounds interesting.

Rotakin is a cardboard cutout test target which was designed to allow the means of establishing a specific criteria for measuring the performance of CCTV cameras. By specifying required screen height and resolution (indicated by the markings on the target), the camera/lens performance can be checked to confirm compliance with the system specification. It was designed by the UK Home Office Police Scientific Development Branch (PSDB) and is being used to assess the effectiveness of CCTV systems in the UK and Europe. All too often there are poorly installed/maintained CCTV systems unable to produce the necessary image quality to identify individuals/vehicles where an intrusion or other criminal activity has taken place, and as such they are of no benefit to police or other CCTV users. I had the opportunity to use the Rotakin and evaluate a CCTV system and found it to be quite useful. Although not a standard in Canada, it was a very useful tool.

Welcome to the forum where you'll find a ton of information. Try the search function to find some answers to your questions. If you don't find it, then ask away!

Hello Hank, We get these requests a lot, so patience is a virtue... Samsung is one of many companies which manufacture DVR's. They have various DVR's which might suit your application (as does this one from your post). Where are you from? This will aid in helping you find a product where you can get support. We have a Samsung product rep in Canada who is always willing to show the product and would support it as well. Second question I'll ask is....what's the application? If you want further recommendations, you'll need to share with us more info about your application to narrow down the DVR options. Kalatel as you mentioned can be found at the GE Security site and they make an excellent product. There is lots of useful information in the forum, so try the search function and read up on valuable information.

Hi kwikone We need more info on your installation. Is this a PC or dedicated system? When you say TV out.....is that video out?

How many cameras do you have? If only one, check to make sure the plug in transformer is at least 1 amp as this camera draws alot and depending on distance you will have a voltage drop over long lengths. Most cameras nowadays accept either 12 vdc (polarity) or 24vac (no polarity) and they have internal circuitry which compensates. If you have more than one camera, I'd do as Griffon says....buy a 24vac power supply and save power!

Welcome Andrew. I imagine you've had enough rain out there! Hope you find answers to all your questions.

It's still available Rory. Yes, that's the current cutsheet.

For that type of distance, you would be looking for a parabolic microphone. Typically they are large (20 inches) to get that type of distance. The next best would be a cardiod shotgun microphone which is smaller. Along with the parabolic, you'll need an amplifier. Louroe has various microphone kits (ASK-KIT-101) which include the audio base station amplifier and mic which is omni-directional and good for 15-30 feet which will integrate with your DVR.

Will this monitor type work? Sony PVM-2030 Pro Trinitron Col
rapid replied to Arockerdude's topic in System Design
These were great monitors at the time....when I worked in the broadcast industry (15 years ago)....excellent analog picture.....PVM professional video monitor used in broadcast, not necessarily medical. Never used the computer input but based on the specs of 640 x 200 it wouldn't be the best choice for your GEO card.....plus I think it is RGB. Nice monitor, but was it ever heavy!! -
I've used them as well with great success. The KVM extender I'm using is made by Rose Electronics.
