  1. I've been tasked with finding out if a mobile camera/DVR system installed on a small twin-engine, fixed-wing aircraft flying at 2000 ft AGL can provide sufficient recorded resolution to differentiate automobiles. If so, I would gladly take any recommendations!

    Recommendations for mobile DVR system?

The plane already has camera holes with nadir mounted digital cameras and a high resolution IR line scanner. These are the critical sensors in the aircraft. We are currently using cheap bullet type cameras to provide a forward looking view to aid in targeting for the line scanner and a downlooking one with time stamp, cross hair and GPS for cross referencing the IR data. The quality of video is of course poor and we are just looking to improve it. A small four camera input DVR seems preferrable to VHS recorders. I know better cameras will be an immediate improvement but I'm unsure of DVR recording resolutions. Seems there would be a best match between camera resolution and DVR recording capabilities. Not to make things too difficult but good low light response on the cameras would be a plus.
