Depending on how many cameras you need, you can download Pelco's Digital Sentry software from their website and run it on any PC, also they have a server available if you need the full solution, or want analog camera support. PTZ controls are amazing on my motorola xoom.

The Pelco DVR5100 was an Endura device that never really got off the ground. As with all Endura equipment you can not use 3rd party cameras, while it does support Pelco IP cameras it doesn't have the throughput or ability to support .h264. The 5100 was used primary in a pro-active situation. You probably would of been happier with Pelco Digital Sentry, which is a software based application (similar to Milestone / OnSsi) that you can download for free from their FTP site and run on any PC (assuming minimum requirements) The software has 4 free License that will work with any 3rd party camera on the Pelco Partner list (most ip cameras) Should you need a hardware solution as well, check out the DSSRV, it runs the Digital Sentry software, and comes with 8 Free license.

Vivotek IP7361 vs Pelco IXE10LW
ChrisL posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I had the pleasure of doing a Shootout today with a 2MP Vivotek Camera vs a Pelco IXE10LW 1.2 MP camera. Both cameras performed fine in perfect lighting, however when we simply shut the blinds to the room the Vivotek camera was the clear looser. I will have the videos on my Blog that I will be finishing up shortly, but here is a sneak peak at what happened. First the Vivotek: Second the Pelco: Pelco was the clear winner on this one, the gentleman selling the Vivotek camera was even very impressed. These were at the same time, same lighting.... Feel free to post any questions / concerns. If for some reason this type of post is not allowed please let me know and I won't post them anymore, as we have shootouts on a weekly basis anymore. -
Vivotek IP7361 vs Pelco IXE10LW
ChrisL replied to ChrisL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have a lot more of these to post, however this is what the guy selling Vivotek brought to the table. I simply show up and attend the shootout. There are the Surevision shootout videos on the Pelco web page, but I am not aware of what cameras specifically they are using. Today I am going to be doing a demonstration on the Spectra HD vs Something Bosh is bringing. I will post those sometime later this week. -Chris -
For starters, ignore all of the information in this thread, as most of it is incorrect. I am very familiar with the Endura system, have been certified, and have had success on several deployments. I believe what you are referring to is the limitation of a Single NSM, each NSM has a maximum throughput of 250MBPS, so assuming you were using a camera that had 3.125MBPS throughput, then yes you would be limited to 80 cameras PER NSM. *HOWEVER* you can have up to 20 NSM's per Storage Pool, and as many Storage Pools as you like.. To answer some of the other questions in this thread: Endura is a Linux based system, 100% proprietary to Pelco, I would assume its a MySQL database, but I have no way of finding out / checking. But it is Pelco's own flavor of Linux. The 48 Camera limitation is something that was removed in Endura 2.0, we no longer have NVR's in Endura. There are no camera license for Endura, once you deploy the system you can add as many cameras as you want assuming you have the throughput. You do need to be Certified to purchase Endura Equipment. You do not need to be Certified to call Technical Support, they will help anyone who calls in. Pelco isn't Lenel or Genetec, they don't turn people who need help away. Should you need any further assistance in the design of your Endura system I strongly suggest you contact your local sales rep, or call Large Systems at 1800-289-9100.

S= Sony A=Axis P=Panasonic Surevision is the best night / wide dynamic I have seen... -Chris -
This is absolutely on a camera to camera basis, being a Pelco guy myself I am pretty familiar with their surevision line, which is absolutely amazing in low light / harsh lighting conditions. Check out these video's, they are pretty awesome Low Light: http://www.pelco.com/sites/global/en/sales-and-support/downloads-and-tools/video-gallery/surevision-outdoor-night.page WDR: http://www.pelco.com/sites/global/en/sales-and-support/downloads-and-tools/video-gallery/surevision-office-day.page Anti-Bloom: http://www.pelco.com/sites/global/en/sales-and-support/downloads-and-tools/video-gallery/surevision-traffic-night.page If you check out the image in the top right, you can see the actual light measurement. P=Panasonic S=Sony A=Arecont (I believe its Arecont, not axis)

Pelco Sarix and NUUO PC Software
ChrisL replied to Mullermand's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Pelco offers a free version limited to 4 channels of Pelco Only IP cameras. Now, I am 99% sure that the analytics on camera are not supported by DS4u (Or digital sentry in general) http://www.pelco.com/sites/global/en/products/video-management-solutions/range-presentation.page?c_filepath=/templatedata/Offer_Presentation/3_Range_Datasheet/data/en/shared/video_management_solutions/ds4u.xml Hope that helps a little. -
I was called to a job yesterday and I am stumped on what to do. I have searched the internet over and can not find a solution so I decided to post here. I have 7 buildings all connected by a fiber line back to a central 8th building, each building has various CCTV to Fiber transmitters, and Fiber receivers (decoders) in the main building. However, somehow one of these fiber lines have failed (No, there isn't a backup line, and its not possible to run a new fiber line) There is an older integral dvr in the main building, which can not be upgraded to work with a sentry system, so IP cameras are out of the question. My question is can I use 2x media converters, one in the remote building with the failed fiber line to convert the fiber to Ethernet, run it across a wireless bridge, then convert the signal back to fiber in the main building? Or does anyone know a better more effective way of doing this? Thanks Chris
