I love my Makita LXT's. Picked them up years ago and have never looked back. Rotary hammer, standard drill, impact driver and the fluoro torch are the main 4 I use.

Just cat tails aren't they? Why would they need to be GV specific? All you'd need to do would be to make sure they're either DSUB or DVI surely? Nope tried other pigtails from other DVRs on Geo and on another DVR card another time, didnt work. I guess they wire them up differently inside. With Geo even tried to extend the pigtails one time with a VGA cable and that didnt work - however did that to a linux stand alone DVR which came with pigtails and that one did work. Maybe I just have too many spare GV cattails lying around.

I'm a constant believer in the answer is always YES (and then putting in the hard yards to make it work and work well) Usually because the conversation goes as follows Can you do this? Yes How much? Let me get back to you. (and then you use the get back to you time to draw up a quote and figure otu how its done.) Ideally, set them up in your shop first, make sure you're familiar with how they work. Then take them to the site. If things don't go great, remember that they've had them broken and they're not going to be THAT fussed if its not fully functional. Remember that your CS is as much a priority as your work.

GV usually requires a much beefier machine than anything else. You will need a DVR card, the card contains the licenses for what you need. There are many DVR cards out there that will suffice. There are quite a few dealers on here who can direct you to the most economical Most come with their own monitoring software too so you won't have to worry about that. If you're looking to set up 6 cameras. Surveillance HDD's aren't really necessary, I've been building DVRs for years without any problems. And surveillance specific HDDs have only been out for about a year. The previous 15 years have all been done with normal HDDs. Don't waste your money IMO. As a base system, I'd be looking for the following A mobo with integrated graphics. A separate gfx card isnt really necessary. Check the card specs though on what sort of grunt the gfx needs. Quad core AMD or Intel i5. (can get away with a dual core or i3 if your budget is that limited) Be aware that a lot of the times the DVR may specify you cant use AMD or onboard gfx. Ive never had any issues in getting it to work. But its your choice in the end if you want to play safe and spend a few extra $ doing so. 2 gigs of RAM. (i run with 4) DVR card 1TB HDD (you can get 2, but for a domestic system its probably not required, they are cheap anyways) Win XP Bear in mind this is a PC based DVR so if you need to upgrade the hardware (ie add more ram increase capacity) its pretty basic.

How were you planning to plant it flush against the window with that cover?

Who uses 12mm conduit? The smallest I would ever use is 16. But usually use 20 because its cheaper. -
This. Sanyo's are under a grand. And you can get 4MP versions of them. And they stream more than 1FPS

BETTER DVR Card Suggestions for NEW Rack mount computer????
Campbell replied to sur-veil's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I was thinking that too. I think what he means though is get a DVR card which carries a few IP licenses inbuilt as that Avermedia one apparently does (well froma cursory look at it) -
2nd vote for Paradox! Gem of a system to install.

Any ideas on how I make CCD Camera connections waterproof?
Campbell replied to the lemming's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Isn't he looking to seal the cable plugs? If so, then heat shrinking cable covers arent really the best way to go for that, particularly if you want an easy removal of the camera for maintenance. I suppose a siliconed jbox isn't that fantastic either. Guess it depends on where the cable is running, whether he's going to run conduit or just nail it to the roof. -

I think the general rule of thumb is that focused on your own property is ok, but on public property ie the street, it has to be signposted. And definately no on your neighbours -
Front Door Camera - ACTi or Arecont
Campbell replied to Anthony A.'s topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do you have a PC on the net? Run the Exacq server with a single camera license. Best, Christopher Why? The Arecont still has its own inbuilt webpage which you can view which is all he is trying to do. You can still view the Arecont stream through a webpage. Irrespective of whether its designed for it or not, you can still do it. -
Can Avermedia Overlay network thermal POS printer?
Campbell replied to destro_23's topic in AverMedia
The answer is maybe. The POS software will take it from the POS unit rather than the printer. And there in lies the difficulty. You will need to see if you can configure the POS unit to duplicate the print feed. -

I'd just use a standard jbox and seal it with silicon. -

Campbell replied to modarzeneh's topic in General Digital Discussion
This is one I haven't heard. Problem with acronyms is, the letters can stand for just about anything. Digital Image Stabilisation Cliff notes definition is that it reduces the amount of image shake that can affect a camera feed due to vibration etc. -
Rubbish, despite what specs say, you can use AMD. It's a CPU, which has no bearing on the functionality of the card. You don't need Intel drivers for the DVR card. It will work just peachy. Some cards also tell you not to use onboard graphics cards and/or certain chipsets as well. You can usually safely ignore that as well, on the provision that the specs of the onboard stuff matches what you'd need in a separate card. I used AMD's for ages on Geo based DVRs long before they said it was ok to use AMD hardware.
