That's great news! Thanks
-
Thank you. I ordered a pair and hope they arrive in the next two weeks. I want to try them in a clients store. A 6mm lens would work better.

Thats great news. Wish the D52 was out. With that wide lens, it would be nice to have more resolution. Do you happen to know if the lens can be changed on these 1mp cameras?

Avigilon vs Mirasys

You owe it to yourself to find an Avigilon vendor and compare the two. -
AXIS P-1214E outdoor covert IP camera

If your goal is to be able to quickly review video tied to events, I say look at Avigilon. Their core version is very low cost (you do have to provide a PC). -
Convert Pelco Esprit to IP
EarlT replied to EarlT's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ya I could see the wiper causing issues with an autofocus. My plan for now is to go with a fixed focal length lens and just use it for an overview with the occasional skyward star gazing. I have this 5mp camera laying around and figure this would be a fun way to use it. I can mount it on top of a pole and get an unobstructed view of everything. Does the typical Esprit have something that can pass Ethernet easily? -
I would like to get a Pelco Esprit housing and put an Avigilon cam with PTZ control output in it. Is there enough wire passed through to pull it off easily? I plan to get one with a wiper, so is there a way a typical IP camera can trigger the wiper?

I was looking at the Samsung SNP-5200H as a low(er) cost HD PTZ. In the video you can really see the constant shake and occasional refocus because of it. It does not appear to be a windy day. I wonder why Samsung would use such a crappy video as their demo. I'd love to know how to embed these things.

Acti 1111 vs. Dahua/Qsee mini bullet shootout
EarlT replied to Agentchuckles's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I don't like the pigtails but I can see why there being added. With prices falling, more and more consumers are going to be installing their own. It's one way to help keep moisture out of the cameras. I doubt many would take the time to seal up wire entries They would send it back when water got in and ruined their month old camera. -
Dahua cameras now at Costco
EarlT replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I can get a Dahua to work in Avigilon with ONVIF quite easily. It auto recognized it. Just no motion detection. Supposedly Dahua is running ONVIF 2.0, and you need ONVIF 2.2 for motion detection. So, unless Dahua upgrade their ONVIF, Avigilon won't be able to do motion detection with these cameras. I was aware of that. I just was hoping that the Q-See version might have the newer ONVIF. I was looking at another 2mp China brand and it also appears to have 2.0. It makes me wonder if they all are using the same core components. -

I know the Dahua's support onvif, I just don't see any mention of it on Q-See's product specs. I see their DVR that is bundled with those same cameras supports it, but wondered if Q-See had their own flavor of software in them. -

Avigilon 5MP Dome vs AXIS P3367-VE
EarlT replied to MagnumVP's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have both a 5mp box and 5 mp dome jpeg2000. I can attest to how much easier the box cam with back focus is to get a sharp picture. I have made a few trips up the ladder to get my 5mp domes set where I like them. Well worth it in the end. -
Need help choosing PTZ IP/Megapixel
EarlT replied to what-da's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I get the impression the Avigilon PTZ does not auto track. Looks like it's primarily designed for manned operations. Maybe they will update the software someday to give it more automation. -
I have a couple of used Avigilon ENC-4Port jpeg2000 encoders. This is a an inexpensive way to get one of the best NVR systems going. These only require a single ACC license for 4 cameras. $155 each shipped

I'll consider reasonable offers.
