Tall aluminum light poles for camera mounting
EarlT replied to EarlT's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
hi EarlT. when you have your pole take it to a local welding shop and do a few mods to it. here in the UK you can buy split lighting poles (swings low from centre) or you can put a concrete base in and mod your lighting post base like this. I like the look of this one. Thanks! -
Tall aluminum light poles for camera mounting

I can always adjust the height of the camera. The top will be where I mount a anemometer. I have a long driveway and would like to have a full view of it. Thst's why I started looking for tall poles. I have plenty of cameras focused on the important stuff. -

Thanks for the comments. Now I just need to figure how I'm going to service the cameras that high up a pole. -

It's a type of pole like you would see in parking lots. About 8" diameter at the base and 4" at the top. -

I could always try filling it with sand to try dampening vibration. I'm thinking about getting one and mounting a PTZ for a birds eye view of my place. -
Great idea. I am putting some cameras up well in reach of people and this seems like a good tamper monitor.

Avigilon recordings.. How to delete (or disk space needs)?
EarlT replied to camera-newbie's topic in General Digital Discussion
When you first set it up, it asks how much of a disk you want to use. I think the default is around 80%. It's easy to reduce that size in the admin app. -
Took another stab at it this morning and no luck. The camera boots and positions quickly and quietly. I see the communication parameters when it boots and everything looks fine. The Avigilon encoder's RS485 plugs are labeled A and B, so do I connect A to the Pany R(a) or R(b)? I have tried both, but am unsure which is correct. Are the connections even polarized given the a and b designations vs + and -?

I just got a Panasonic WV-CS954 and it has the base. Anyone know which pair on the RJ11 jack is used for a two wire RS485 hookup? I'm going to tie it to an Avigilon 4 port encoder.

Thanks AK. You always come through for me! I set all four rs485 dip switches to ON. Using this diagram, I ran a connection that works on my Costar 2500H assuming that r(a) is the same as rx + and r(b) is rx -. I couldn't get it to work. Thoughts anyone?

I'm sure it was logical to install it vents up if the weather was hot and dry. Best way to vent that excess heat.

Question on Video Encoders / CCTV to IP conversion

+1 on the Avigilon Encoders. They work like a champ. I have 3 domes, a PTZ and 2 alarm inputs coming in on one and love it. -

It's almost like their afraid to say it out loud. -
One thing to consider is noise. I prefer my gear to be silent. Just food for thought.

Im in a similar situation and opted for one of these http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-SF-302-08P-SRW208P-K9-NA-Managed/dp/B004496TFS/ref=sr_1_1 . I'll use one GB port for my server and one to connect to my less capable D-link switches my PC's are one.

Avigilon 5MP Dome vs AXIS P3367-VE
EarlT replied to MagnumVP's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The gateway is just for allowing iPhones and Android mobile devices to connect. You don't need it for remote access from a PC. -
Avigilon 5MP Dome vs AXIS P3367-VE

Avigilon jpeg2000 cameras do require the Avigilon Control Center software. Then they are literally plug and play. -
This looks like something you could mount a zoom camera on (with a weatherproof box) and turn it into a PTZ camera. Have any of you ever you ever dealt with one? Not sure how you make an IP camera use analog PT and IP Z. I have a Sanyo HD4600 I would love to be able to swing around. http://www.supercircuits.com/Pan-Tilt-Units/OPTU1

We had one (Data Center) and once it became more of a space user, we sold it for scrap metal. There's a lot of internal storage in those that can be hard to utilize.

Can those IQ Alliance interior domes be retrofitted to be used outdoors? It looks like you could add a IQAE-BOX and use an interior model outdoors. -
Canada does not have the funds to rig an american election.

Hey Videotiger! Do you have any updates on that PT unit. Just curious if you found a way to store presets.

Speaking of Avigilon and Axis encoders. Does Avigilon see Axis 4 port (240q,241q) as a single license like their encoders, or one for each port?
-
Sounds like a Sanyo VCC-HD4600 would work nicely. HDMI out and easily will do 1080p. PoE and you have remote on and off. Also has a built in 10x zoom lens. Also has internal or external via USB record capability. Not to mention it's a great CCTV camera. There not cheap, and out of production, but can still be found.

http://www.avigilon.com/company/press/092111.htm This never seems to bode well for a successful company to go public. Anyone want to start a pool on how long it takes for manufacturing to move overseas, and for software updates to have annual fees?
