My quest on getting a PTZ up and Running

Sean, one more question. I need some more of those inline 10 pin and 12 pin modular connectors the costars use. What are they called? I need to find a source.
  2. Just curious, but how stable does it run? Are presets in your camera putting it back in the same place, or drifting some? I see this model for real good prices, so might get one to put a IP camera on just for grins.
  3. Say videotiger, I may have stumbled across documentation for your dip switches. This looks like yet another version of the same unit with RS485 built in. The link below has a link to documentation. http://www.cop-usa.com/images/product/pdf/AS20-RS485.pdf

    3g service

Lots of phones will do it. I suggest you look up your phone model # and tether in google and you will get a quick answer.
  5. Those specs are probably for a fully loaded system. I bet anyone with a dozen cameras or less can put it all on one system. I plan to.

If it's like the NV3000/5000 etcetra, you have to go into the network setup in the avermedia software and enable handyview if I remember correctly.
  7. So I guess changing the port on your cameras is not an option? That's what I had done for mine. I just changed it back to test it for you.

    CNB MIR 3000

The unit will give of that red glow if your looking right at it, so it won't be completely stealth. The are nice units. I have a MIR1000 and think it does a decent job for the price. I don't have it mounted anywhere yet though.
  9. I posted an example in your other thread. I have a D-Link DIR-655 that allows port mapping under Virtual Servers.
  10. You peaked my interest so I jumped into my D-Link Dir-655 and made it happen. Forwarding port 50010 to port 80 internally was easy as pie. In the D-Link you need to use the Virtual Server under Advanced. Literally took 20 seconds to do plus the router reboot time. This was to a Sanyo HD3300.

Thanks Sean! That's a nice camera and that looks nice where you have it mounted!

What Box cameras are you using?

I expect you are referring to analog, but the Avigilon H.264 box with built-in lens is an exceptional camera for the price. I was amazed at the low light performance at full zoom. Best, Christopher Is that the 1 or 2MP version?

That nice of you to offer. I'm really not looking for a night capable camera, just something I can put near our garden so I can see how things are growing. You know, a toy!

My quest on getting a PTZ up and Running

This is the one you mean? http://www.costarvideo.com/products/products.aspx?id=111 I see these Costar 2500H's used on Ebay for a nice price. Are they decent performers? I'm just looking for something to play with, but don't want super cheap junk.

    Internet vs LAN

LAN = Local Area Network, typically fast Internet = slow upload speed hence the lower quality and fewer frames.
  17. You can bet lots of people will try running both on the same box. Given enough horsepower, it may work for a few cameras. I know I'll try it. Lets just hope the gateway can run on minimal hardware, so home users can re-task an old box if it must be separate.
  18. Since ACC is pretty easy on system resources, I doubt they wanted to put transcoding into the mix. Also, the legacy hardware would also need to work. This is why they came out with the Gateway. It's probably built to work with all their systems, and will be required to be on a separate server so it can have all the resources it needs. It will be interesting to see what the system requirements are for it. I agree that a free mobile app would have been much nicer. Lets hope it's so cool no one complains.
  19. I get the impression it will be the same for a single camera server or fully loaded. I think where the cost goes up, is if your monitoring more than one site. There might be a price break as that number grows. Given that Avigilon is marketed more for the larger installs, I doubt they have any entry level pricing beyond ACC's two tiers. I do hear there will be an upgrade path should one opt for ACC Standard and later want to step up to Enterprise. I hope pricing (and products) start flowing soon..
  20. Are you talking about the Gateway Server? I know you can get ACC in 4 camera blocks. I believe the Gateway is licensed on a per connected server basis, so if you just have one, you only pay for one. The big question is how much will a single Gateway connection cost.
  21. Nice, now we just need all the back end tools. Thanks AK
  22. I don't have anything against 3rd party developers. I love the things that are often created that have unique functionality. Looking at this from an Avigilon stand point, it appears to only connect to individual cameras, and only lists Avigilon H.264 cameras.
  23. I can tell you that at max resolution, 5fps is the limit. I run both my sanyo's at 1920x1080 and 15fps. The quality is quite good compared to max res, and the added frame rate gives you more frames to look through on faster moving objects.
  24. Have you tried that one? $2.99 is more than I want to spend if it's a generic app with limited functionality. I am hoping Avigilon comes out with one with some decent features.
