The software that came with this DVR is not adequate for my needs. Does anyone know where I might purchase sotware that would access the stored video on the hard drive of this unit. I am using a PC running Windows XP Home

I got my answer from one of the commercial software companies. This unit does not have an embeded OS so all it can do is what was available with the test software that came with the unit. I will probably lose this one and buy another that does what I need. I must say that I have learned a lot about CCTV and DVR. Thank you all for you help and interest. I will end watching this thread.

I just altered the URL to remove pcviewer.zip and added manual. That gave me a list of all the offered software. I downloaded the manual and will follow the directions carefully.

I have tried all the things that I know to get the software to recognize the HDD. I turned off all video and audio players, completely shut down the computer and DVR before installing the software and then connecting the USB. I also uninstalled the test software that came with the DVR. I tried it on my notebook and that did not work either. It runs Win ME. The USB is connected directly to the HDD so that is not an issue. It just occured to me that I can boot into safemode and try to access it that way. I will try that today. However please don't let that stop you from making suggestions. I have been to "MicroWeb.co.kr" (219.95.149.169) but I cannot find a PDF file with instructions. Perhaps I am a bit slow but I could not find anything about the viewer software. I also tried the Panacom page and it would not give me anything unless I used the URL that you sipplied that went directly to the download. As always, any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

This is my first ever attempt to set up and operate a CCTV DVR. I am fairly computer literate but dumb as a board on the DVR and it's operating system. My setup is: The USB makes it possible to see what is recorded on the harddrive by using the test utility that came with the DVR. This is the software that I need to get a better example of or anything that will read through the DVR operating system. I monitor the cameras through the DVR via an S-Video connection into my ATI TV card. I can record this on the computer but that defeats the purpose of having the 200 gig DVR. I am including the url of the DVR I own so that you can see what it is. http://www.apeccctv.com/apecdirect/dvr.htm As stated before I have the ADR411U that has USB as the only Windows connection. It does not have networking. The harddrive is mounted on a removable tray but I do not have any physical way of connecting that to the pc. And without a DOS partition the pc could not see it anyway. Windows Device Manager can see the DVR only as a USB large storage device and does not give it a drive letter or make it accessible. Thank you for the help it is greatly appreciated.

The PCViewer utility gave me the following error: "Read HDD Fault" I can still run the test utility that came with but so far every thing else I ahve tried does not work. I have not tried the site to see if they have any more utilities but I will as soon as I finish this post. I am aware that Windows cannot see the harddrive in the DVR without a DOS partition but there must be a utility to read it without a partition. Am I on the right track? Also do you have any more sites that might help me.
