  1. On a GEO-600 (16 camera) system, is there a way to notify store manager that the system is NOT recording, at the scheduled time. Also, is there a way to prevent someone from changing scheduled, motion recording, to 24/7 recording. Thank you very much. Robert

    GEO 600 dongles

In the past month, I have had three (3) seperate occasions where a system gave problems. On these 3 systems, at least one camera stopped recording, and sometimes more than one camera. The problem in all 3 systems was the dongle. Today, as I finished an installation (10 cameras), only cameras 9 & 10 would work. Cameras 1 through 8 were "dead" until the dongle was replaced. The 3 occasions mentioned above cost me about $800.00 in time and travel (average of 200 miles round-trip). Are others having this type of problem, or have you found a way to prevent same. Any help will be most appreciated. Thank you. Robert

    GEO 600 dongles

Hi Scott: I guess that I did not use proper terms as to the "dongle". I see now that I should have said "D-type video extension cable, where cameras 1-8 are on the Black, and cameras 9-116 are blue. In the 10 camera setup that I installed yesterday, cameras 9 & 10 were OK. Cameras 1-8 on the Black cable were not showing but 2 or 3 cameras, until I started movin the cables, and all at once the camers came up. Additional movement caused them to go off, and then I changed he cable (just happened to have an extra with me) and then they all came up and were stable. Same type of situation as stated at the early part of my post. New cable took care of problem (but at a hugh expense to me in time and travel). Question is: what can be done to keep this problem from happening again? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Robert

    GEO 600 dongles

I have considered using stand-along units, but customer requires a minimum of 6 months storage. I have not found a stand-alone that will give me this amount of storage, in a price range that I can afford. Rory, can one order the BNC version rather thank dongles? I must have been given bad information, since I was told that it was dongle or nothing. Many thanks. Robert
  5. From the data backup program on a GEO-600, I selected a 10 minute segment of recorded pictures. This was successfully transfered to hard disk, and shows up as SIBK050619. Ahead Nero copied this to a CD. It shows up correctly on the recorded CD. I open the CD, and then click EZViewLog500 (as per usual). I then get the message: "Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library" is on the top blue line of the box. "Runtime Error! Program: F:\SIBK050619\EZViewLog500.EXE The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Operating system is Win 2000 pro This system is in a commercial bank, and we need to supply Police with CD due to a fraud check. If anyone can help me solve this, I will be most greatful. Thank you. Robert

Post recording on GEO-600 (16) card

On the setup menu for GEO-600 (16) card, running under os 2000 pro, I have checked post recording time of 5 seconds. The system is local recording only, motion on each camera. However, I can't tell any difference in the post recording. Seems to be the same as if it were not checked. Am I over looking something? Your help will be most appreciated. Robert

Camera not working with GEO card

Using a new PC, and a GEO 600, 16 camera card, I have experienced a problem that has me puzzled. This setup has 12 cameras. 11 cameras work just fine. Camera 12 has a great picture when viewed on a cctv B&W monitor, using same coax and placed at the same place as the PC. However, when I plug the camera into the GEO card, it brings down most of the other 11 cameras. I remove camera 12, and all is OK. Same thing if plugged into any other input. Can anyone offer any input on this? Thank you very much. Robert

  11. I have built a number of computer/GEO 600 card systems in the past 2 years, and have certainly had my share of problems. The one that I have just built, and still on the work bench, has presented me with yet another problem. I have the GEO card set to auto open the system in "full screen" view, and have the user and password set properly. However, when I start the computer, the GEO program does not auto start. When I open the GEO program with the mouse, all is OK. Can someone offer some hints on what might be the problem? Thank you very much. Robert

    GEO 600 problem

On the past 2 pc builds, using GEO 600, sofware ver 6.05, win 2000 os, I have not been able to go from full view to the work screen, not with the mouse or with the keyboard "F". Never had this problem with any of the other 20-25 systems. Can someone offer help on this? Thank you. Robert

    GEO 600 problem

Thanks scottj: The proper check marks have been selected, although the G- 600 software ver 6.05 (Skyway distributor) does not have the particular item that you mention. The video card does support the features you mention. Thanks, Robert

    problem with auto log-in

We are not using any "user" level, only "administration" level. Again, we have set up these systems for 2 years now, and this is first time that this problem has come up. Do you think that I may have a GEO software or GEO hardware problem? Thanks

    problem with auto log-in

To G22: No, I have never done this. To: wahloon: 6.05 To Baywatch: Do not understand this - could you elaborate? To cctvinstaller: No, not using reset - the pc is turned OFF Thanks, for all. Still need more help . . .
  16. Usually we install a PC with GEO 600 card, and 2 monitors. We install a 19" monitor in the lobby of banks, and a 15" by the computer as a set-up monitor. The 19" is on 24/7. When the 19" monitor is in the range of 100' from the computer we use a video splitter which allows the monitor to be up to several hundred feet. If it is a short distance, we just use an A-B video switch. We have an upcoming application to use (2) 19" monitors that will be on 24/7, along with the 15" set-up monitor (only on for purpose of set-up and viewing recorded events). One 19" will be about 100' and the other 19" only 25'. How would you handle this? Thank you very much for your input. Robert

  19. We have a number of PC based, GEO card, units installed in commercial banks. On occasion (check fraud, etc.) the bank needs to supply the police with a 10-15 minute segment of an event. We always have to talk the bank people through this process. First making a copy of the event to hard drive, and then using Ahead-Nero, making a CD of the event. This is a long and involved process for the bank people who have never done this before. Is this the best way (on only way) or is there a better, simpler way to handle this? Thank you very much. Robert
  20. Thanks to all for your imput: Looks like I am stuck with the way that I have been doing it, as difficult as it may be. Happpy Easter . . . Robert

    What monitor to use

After using pc based, GEO cards for the past 2 years, we are considering going to a stand alone system. We also have been using LCD monitors (one 15 inch, and one 19 inch) in each installation. I note that if we use the stand alone units, that we must use a cctv monitor, which in the LCD version is much more expensive, especially in the 19 or 20 inch size. I have read somewhere that there is a transistion box that will allow standard computer monitors to be used with the stand alone units. Can anyone advise me on this? Thank you very much. Robert

    Problem with Geo600 card installation

This is a new installation with a new computer, P-4 processor, 512 mem. good vga video card, and a GEO-600, 16 camera card. The installation has 12 color cameras. Cameras 1-8 come up fine. Usually, I can get camera 9 to come up, but when plugging in camera 10, 11, or 12, all cameras stop! When I remove cameras 10, 11, and 12, the other 8 or 9 come back. I have tried every thing that I can think of. If anyone can help, I would be very greatfull. Thank you.
