does it really matter when it comes to cameras? Looking at the spec sheet for the Dahua ESDV-ALPHA-16, the only place NTSC is mentioned seems to be the Video Output signal for maybe a spot monitor.

I'm sure this is a very basic question but why choose one over the other?

why are some routers so slow to respond while fwrding ports?

Why do some routers lag so bad while forwarding ports? Multiple tries, different browsers, cycling the power on the routers...... any ideas? -
Dahua NVR - unstable when one + cameras set to motion record
Dirk_D posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Dahua ESDV-NVRX-32 32 Channel NVR I have 2 of these things, one has 20 assorted Hikvision cameras and is located offsite, I have another one here that has a few mixed Hikvision cameras and one Dahua 2MP PTZ. Both systems run flawlessly if all of the cameras are set to record 24/7, but glitch/freeze/reboot if any camera(s) are set to motion-only. I also don't notice the usual motion settings (area mask & sensitivity levels). Any advice? >>>the PTZ is Dahua's SD40212S-HN DS-2CD3132-I domes, & DS-2CD2032-I bullets -
why are some routers so slow to respond while fwrding ports?
Dirk_D replied to Dirk_D's topic in Computers/Networking
it just took forever to recognize commands...... enter the info, hit submit, comes back up filled out the same but missing the start & end ports but the type & ip info was still there. Then try to go back to see the ports that are there and click wait/wait/wait/wait/wait/etc/timeout. Just slow. -

these low end samsung systems are absolute sh!t. I hope you bought it somewhere with a good return policy. We had a chain request these low end systems, got set up with a distributor, installed nearly a dozen, and had >30% fail within 2 months. -

when I'm presented with similar situations I just take a silly putty egg, cram my wires into the putty, and close the shell. Works like a charm. -

Looking for a new test monitor
Dirk_D replied to jordanb's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I wouldn't bother with one less than this: http://www.amazon.com/Monitor-CCTV-Installation-Maintenance-Monitoring/dp/B00DHCDL36/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1408769799&sr=8-6&keywords=cctv+test+monitor It has all the same features as yours (only the most basic) but it includes a video generator...something you could place at the camera end of the cable and generate (transmit) a colorbar signal. That's useful. ....really, though, if you buy, you might as well consider this since it has a tone generator & some very basic cable testing tools built in too: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HVT-2603-3-5-TFT-LCD-CCTV-Camera-Tester-PTZ-Digital-Multimeter-IP-Search-New-/261337465766?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd8ed43a6 ....if you're looking at the cute arm band this will blow that away.... -
how do you know when a VGA amplifier will be needed vs a splitter? My application is 1 monitor 20' away and the other 35'. The signal will be coming from a ESDV-NVRX-32

Viewing Hikvision Camera's on Samsung Smart TV's

what about any other Samsung Apps? I'll post if I find one. -
....found a used CIQ-Kit for >30% off at ebay.... I just didn't like seeing mine bounce I guess, I think this will give me more confidence in my wiring... plus it does other types of communication cables (speaker wire) that might be helpful (not for speakers). It qualifies cables, doesn't certify them.

My trusty Fluke Lan650 took a 6' fall last Thursday while testing a crimped on connector.... I even sprung the catch and set it down easy and wham! Plastic pieces falling off, and now it goes straight into a programming mode. I might be able to rig it somehow but I'm not counting on that. A couple months ago I picked up a used fluke Etherscope (one touch or link runner are more modern options). I bought the Lan650 from a friend nearly 14 years ago and it's served me well, although it had it's 10 mbit limitation, it'd give me a quick pass/fail, pinout, and length, all very quickly. So now I'm halfway wondering about the Fluke Microscanner2 @ $475, or their CableIQ @ $1160..... I had a Fluke 683 delivered from ebay today ($200), but it's big and slow for cable measurements. Are there better options than these two? Seems the cableIQ is the way to go but before I blow some more $$$$ I thought I'd ask.

100 meters is easy - RG59 is good for ~800', & RG6 roughly 1500'.

Viewing Hikvision Camera's on Samsung Smart TV's

I've been interested in the same thing. Here's a Samsung UN32EH5300F Via the built in web browser: Then the "smart hub" I tried the same thing (web browser) w/ a dahua PTZ with the same result "no plug in detected" - everything other than live video was accessible.
