Hi Raul, Have you tried to contact the Lupus technical team direct? What ports are assigned in the network screen of the DVR menu? All of these need forwarding through your router nat/firewall. I'm quite sure there are 1 or 2 more ports that need forwarding for control, I can't find anything online therefore contacting their tech team would be your best bet. G'luck.

Wrong forum, your post is titled 'broadband' and is regarding your computer not a DVR! What operating System do you have? Windows 95/98/2k, XP, Vista, 7? Linux/Mac? Is it a wireless router you are using, do you have a seperate firewall?? Have you tried a Google search on 'how to automatically connect to the internet at startup'?

Can I just point out Danster(and I have done it before myself!), that if you do have to modify a camera or its cabling in future, test that it's working first. If the cameras sent were faulty and you had altered the leads and/or cut them completely you would struggle to get reimbursed or replacements returned to you from the supplier. Just one more tip for you, don't go and buy cheap baluns just to save a couple of quid, I have had many a headache and seen them melt before my eyes before now! Yes you need to use balun transceivers when using twisted pair technology(Cat5 cable). I have never not used baluns with Cat5 so couldn't tell you what the result would be by omitting them. Also, what connections do you have at the camera end? BNC/Phono connector and a DC plug/socket??

Ladders? What are ladders?? Wireguys and 3RDIGLBL I'll raise you... I have one of those new instantly inflating cranes I carry around in the glovebox, it's just a pain in the a$$ lifting it into position! I'm saving up for one of these though - you don't even have to get out of your van!

I haven't had any experience with network over mains but I guess it's a possibility. Anyone have any problems with these devices??

Hi Tdav, you got yourself a nice piece of kit there, once it's up and running that is!! First of all can you tell us a bit about your knowledge and background and things you have already tried, so we're not second guessing you. It sounds as though there's nothing wrong with the cabling... you have tested this yes? I take it the ptz powers up and succeeds its preliminary/set-up tour and the dip switches, address, protocol config identically match those set at the controller?? These are simple questions but we need to start somewhere.

I haven't seen anything out there but it'd sure be handy! Focus cams before you mount them whenever possible. Otherwise get somebody to help you, get them to stand at the bottom of your ladders with the laptop or at the head-end and use your mobile phones!. Whatever you do just be careful up those ladders!

What DVR do you have numbnuts? How many alarm inputs/outputs?? If an alarm, lets say a PIR, is triggered you can program the DVR/PTZ to turn the PTZ to a preset. The DVR(if capable) could then send you the image of what triggered the alarm. If you can trigger alarms using the web browser you could close your curtains when you're away from home, play a recording of a barking dog etc. etc... endless possibilities!

I'm not too sure about the cams in question joelee. I have worked with motorway maintenance cams which had miles and miles of cabling, every so often there would be inline amps and the telemetry was transmitted down the coax(BBV). They have started using fibre optic cables now, you're quite limitless when it comes to distances - pricey though. Heathrow to Birmingham? Birmingham Midlands?? Broadband over that distance.

??? RJ45 caps - the little plastic covers of various colours that go over the RJ45 connectors(crystals) BNC boots - the rubber/plastic sleeves that go over the crimped part of the BNC

Crimp BNC's for me, I also get an enormous sense of well-being when I use boots, same thing when I use RJ45 caps, just makes me feel like I'm doing a 'proper' job!!!

I had this problem(or sounds very similar) with a few eyeball domes(generic gimbal type), turns out it was a faulty batch of them. They were model benqxxxx and metallic purple in colour, they also blacked out during storms(when there was static in the air) and only came back on if you unplugged the power lead momentarily. Strange as they're supposed to be lightening proof! I got no proper explanation from the supplier but they exchanged them for some Eneo domes.

What's the brand and model#'s of the cams? Do they have DNR/SSNR settings?? What is the Lux capability of them both??

I've searched and searched for this model number but not getting anything back, not even on AvTech's website. I thought that you may had made a spelling mistake and meant the AVC-760 model. Therefore I'm not much use to you I'm afraid, try calling or emailing AvTech themselves they should be only too happy to help you. G'luck.

I always run the +cable to the fire alarm panel and then on to the maglock, don't go via anywhere else. Contact the fire alarm company and a qualified technician will run it through a no/nc relay in the panel. It may sound easy and I'm not saying you couldn't do it yourself, but if there was a fire, and the maglocks failed to release, could you live with that?? Please get the fire alarm company to do it.

I don't see why you have wrote(or cut n pasted) this post... Most of us know this and a simple wiki search of 'DVR' will tell you this... I used to be a steel erector(dead-end job) but had a good knowledge of computers and electronics, my friend had been in the CCTV industry for years and thought I would be apt for a position pulling-in cables for him. 6yrs later I'm self-employed and installing CCTV equipment on a daily basis - trust me, I have so much yet to learn. How have you gone from tattoo equipment supplier to CCTV equipment supplier? Did you somehow see a 'gap' in the market although there are plenty of suppliers already well established out there??

No - just watch the video link and leave the mobile port at 8000... Make sure your router port forwarding and/or NAT is configured correctly.

Without for me, I hate the foil wrapped white core... I also put my external cables into copex/flexible conduit - it's the 'right' way to do it. Talking of 'cheap' RG59 - my ex-employers always cut corners and bought the cheapest of everything. I installed a camera outside a comm's room once, the extremely easy cable run was less than 5m... no picture, checked BNC's - still no picture... I belled out the RG59 and there was a break in the freshly opened RG59! The full roll went in the bin and I returned the other rolls. 100m 'skinny' rolls bought in Dublin - watch out you Irish installers.
