Suggestion for box camera with automatich zoom please:-)
vector18 replied to Jeroen1000's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Exactly, don't you want a PTZ? A box camera will not move and if you can remotely make it zoom in, when you do zoom in, you won't be looking at what you want to see. -
Best Way to Make a Smartphone Compatible Video Door Intercom
vector18 replied to biz123's topic in System Design
I'm thinking you can mount a small board camera behind a glass plate, run that camera to a dvr with triggers and use your iphone app to enable those triggers to power a door lock to let the people in. You can also find a camera with two way audio so you can talk back and forth, but just not sure how to get the doorbell to ring your phone. It's going to be a delayed reaction, but maybe wire in a button to the alarm input of the dvr and have it send you an email? -
IPC-HFW2100 IR Problems
vector18 replied to Papillon's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
How are you powering the camera? What kind of connection are you using? POE or a transformer? Did you put the cat5 ends on yourself? Can you point the camera in an environment where the light is not changing, like not near a TV? Do you have another camera to try with the same wiring? -
Remove the old one and put the new one in. It should be that simple. Unless it has more than one slot, than simply add the new one into slot two and the dvr should automatically roll over when the first one is full.

The IR's could be bouncing off the wall and reflecting back into the camera. Or, you have the camera tilted too much in the dome where the IR is covered by the housing and the light is inside the dome itself.

Anyone have experience with sentry 360?
vector18 posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
A friend of mine gave me a sentry 360 is-ip220-dn box IP camera. He does not know the IP that it was set at. I connected it to my router and nothing came up. I did an IP scan for three different ranges. I found a small hole with a button on the back so I put a paper clip in it and held it for 30 seconds. Nothing odd happened like the ethernet lights going off or the power light going off. I rebooted the camera and checked my router. No hard wired devices found. Any ideas? -

Where can i learn control system for beginner
vector18 replied to Willsontoh82's topic in Computers/Networking
http://www.amazon.com/CCTV-Security-Professionals-Alan-Matchett/dp/0750673036 And there is no such thing as camera control system. There are camera systems and there are access control systems. You can control a camera if it's PTZ, but it's not called a camera control system. -

Try using idmss just for sh*ts and giggles. If you do not lose connectivity with idmss, than you know it's ip cam viewer.

Anyone have experience with sentry 360?
vector18 replied to vector18's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I figured out the problem. I had two network adaptors enabled on my PC. I disabled the one I'm not using and the IP scan found the camera. I logged in and made my changes. I called sentry 360 if they have an iphone app and they told me no. I just can't believe there is not one single app that is compatible with this 1080P IP camera. Anyone have any suggestions? -

OK, update. I've discovered in the Dahua DDNS setting, that you are not supposed to use the 'private ddns'. Instead, I was supposed to use dyndns in the ddns settings and in the domain IP I should enter nvrdns.com and than all other info. My dahua salesman said the private ddns is for something else, or in other words, by using private, it does not send updates to a server. So, what I have decided to do is all a few of my customers and tell them to go onto whatismyip.com. Once they read me their IP, I opened explorer, entered their IP and my http port that I had already opened. Than I logged in to the their DVR or NVR and change the ddns settings. Within a minute or so, the DVR sent the update and all is back to normal. Hope this bit of info helps others to not make the same mistake!
