    Is this DVR decent ?

Only one channel does D1, do not buy it. It is 2nd class.

    Where to find this DVR??

Simply inform him you found his DVR online and discovered it is discontinued and is no longer being produced. If you can find one online, it most likely will be used and/or in poor shape. Than sell him an upgrade.
  3. I haven't been able to get gas since last Wednesday. My work truck has 1/4 tank, my personal car has 1/4 tank, my personal truck has 1/4 tank, my bike has a full tank but too cold to ride. The news says the trucks are out for delivery but I haven't seen anything or heard of any stations selling gas. Anyway, I'm hoping I can get some on Sunday. I have to upgrade an old PC dvr with an 8 channel dahua analog and the job is about 20 minutes away. If my profit wasn't as high as it was, I would have cancelled the job. As far as POE switches, I took a pakedge seminar and they seem to be good switches with good POE power.
  4. I'm in Forest Hills, your neighbor. When did we hit the 30's? LOL
  5. Do you mean a building or highrise? Do you want analog or IP?

    DDNS

Your DVR is supposed to update your IP address not DBMS server. That is why you enter your the DNS servers IP and login info in your DVRs ddns setting. I use Nvrdns for multiple clients and when their IP changes sometimes it takes a few hours sometimes it takes one day sometimes it takes five minutes to update.
  7. I thought the mystery was what kind of camera was used to produce the picture 'ón' the TV, not what kind of camera took the picture or what brand TV is in the picture? Now that you claim to have solved the mystery, I still do not know what kind of camera was used to produce the image that is on the TV? Funny.
  8. Would anyone like to make a bet with me if jennyjiang can stop trying to sell stuff in every post or not? If I was a forum administrator, I'd either ban her IP or tell her to start paying advertising money. But that is me.

    new computer log in....HELP

Have you tried putting the dvr URL in your trusted sites?
  10. It's Samsung, I recognize those TV's anywhere, usually by the word Samsung across the bottom. Is he even asking what brand TV that is? Weird that you would even be guessing which TV he's using?

What do you think of Dahua?

I've been introduced to Dahua from where I work. We actually use IC realtime. For my own jobs, I use Dahua which I purchase from a local distributor. I cannot believe the price mark up that IC realtime does. I keep telling my boss to dump them and buy from my guy. Anway, as for the product itself, Dahua is a great product for the price. I wouldn't say it's the best or easiest to configure, but after installing roughly 50 dvr's and a few nvr's, I've become sort of an expert on them so it is very easy for me. As mentioned above, the one thing that Dahua needs to correct is the playback or back up feature. It is not as easy as other DVR's out there. But, considering I already know exactly how to playback, I explain it to my customers and they understand it pretty well. I would definitely recommend PSS over IE to playback if doing it remotely. As far as the cameras, I would definitely say they are outstanding and absolutely the BEST quality for the price. Hope this answers your question.
  12. If your using the 192.168.1.107 IP, you do not need to open any ports. You do have to make sure your android is on the same wifi network as the cameras are. That is your local network IP, not your outside IP. You can use 37777 as long as it's the same setting in your phone. Can you view the camera using IE on your computer? I would first make sure you can view your camera, log into it, than set it to static IP so it doesn't change from 107. Once you have that working, let us know and we'll help you with viewing it outside of your network.

I'm not sure, but just try Meye
  15. Actually, I just tried settting my 1.3mp to D1 and I'm using an NVR, not a DVR and it cropped as well. It may be overkill using a megapixel IP camera and it's analog output, but that is a different topic here. There must be a technical reason why it's cropping, but if you think about it, lowering the resolution should only pixlelate the image, not crop it. Here is what happened to mine when I tried the same thing.
  16. Arecont? Axis? Mobotix? Sanyo? Exacq? Ruckus?
  17. I guess you dont want us to know the make and model of the camera you just posted. Interesting.........

    Need couple advices

And keep in mind, there are higher quality and lower quality products in every manufacturer. Some dahua dvr's do not record in D1 so they are less expensive. Do not just google for dahua and buy the cheapest price. Do some research first on what something can or can't do and than when you know what you want it to be able to do, search for the product capable of doing it, THAN search for the cheapest price for THAT product!

    Need couple advices

There is a long discussion on this. It is very similar but I believe is different firmware or embedded differently because my dahua cameras will not work on the Qsee iPhone app.

    Need couple advices

The biggest factor that a cheaper DVR will be is what resolution it will record. The less resolution it records, the less detail in the picture. A DVR that records EVERY channel in D1, the highest analag, will be more expensive than one that won't. I can't even find the specs on that DVR you want to buy from home depot. And more than likely, those cameras will give you a not so good picture at night time. So, when you ask why is Dahua better, it's because at the quality it has, it's the best deal around. I know plenty of people that has purchased that ''KITS'' for under 500 with 8 cameras and a recorder and they ended up ripping it out because the quality sucked moose balls and ended up buying real cameras and a quality DVR.
