Do you really want those big ugly housings outside of your house? Go with either a dome, an eyeball, or a bullet camera.

It is not a ptz and you cannot make it one unless you mount it on a pan tilt motor -

The camera should have come with the other end of that green plug. You connect your power cable to the end of it and than the two green plugs plug into each other. That is your power connection. If you do not have the other end, you can cut the wire and either hard wire the power or put a different male/female plug on. -

Total Newbie - Need 16 Outdoor Camera Setup under $5,000
vector18 replied to marcosffa's topic in General Digital Discussion
5000 is a nice budget for an IP megapixel system. The Dahua IPC-HDB3101's are excellent quality and are outdoor. You could run a cat5 to each camera and use a crazy POE for all those cameras or power them seperately. You would need a 16 camera NVR and I would use at least 2TB's for all of those cameras. For indoors, you can use the dahua IPC-HD2100. Or if your looking for covert for the nanny, I would use something else. -

What are the odds of a burglar standing at your front door and your viewing the camera on your iphone though? -
OK, so I'm playing around with my new 1080P IP PTZ and on local network, the PTZ is absolutely perfect. A few people that has remotely logged on has complained about the lag. So, I'm trying to play around with the network settings. What I did was lowered the bit rate all the way down on the sub stream and tested it out on my iphone on 3g and it was very responsive. When you hit the arrow, the camera moves, BUT, the image quality was a bit pixelated. So, I tried VBR and was not happy with that. I seem to like CBR. So I raised the bit rate and the picture went back to sharp but there was a very slight lag. I will accept that from a cell phone. I'm going to have to play with the main stream with someone else over the phone while they are logged in. But there is another setting call I Frame Rate. Does anyone know what that is? I set it all the way down and all the way up and did not make a difference. Anyway, I'd like to know if anyone else has a 1080P PTZ and what have they done to help out the lag response. Thanks!

I'm waiting for my customer to set up a day for me to install it. Right now it's in my home and I'm bench testing it. It is big and heavy so I really can't aim it near a window right now.
-
Since testing it out, I put the 1080p ip ptz and a 720P ip dahua bullet on an NVR. Side by side, the image looks pretty much the same. It's when you digitally zoom into anything, you really notice a big difference.

That's what I'm guessing. It all makes sense.

While I am testing out the camera, I definitely close out my torrent program. I do know that much, LOL. I currently have DSL since fios is not available in my area. The faster speeds will definitely help me out once I actually install the camera in the house I plan on installing it. That person has fios so it should be better. As far as bit rate settings and I frame settings, I was wondering if anyone has the ''ideal'' settiings that they have found to work best. I'm kinda feeling that there is no ideal setting because everyones upload speeds are different.

Dahua IPC-HFW2100 Reset Button
vector18 replied to pentafive's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I just bought four of these and an NVR. My distributor had a kit sale so I picked on up for a future job. I'll get them out of my truck and see if mine has that same reset button. That was a poor design IMO. It was a good idea to make it accessible once the camera is mounted, but at least put it behind a cover or something. I guess they were thinking if you can reach the camera to hit the button, you can also reach it to take it down so what is the security risk? On a second note, my dealer told me, you MUST sync the camera and NVR to your pc and they must have the same exact times. Also, you MUST enable DST in the NVR so the time of the camera stays the same as the NVR otherwise, playback freezes up if the time is different between the two devices. -
I'm playing with fps and bitrate for the camera. If I'm on my local network, the lag is not much at all. I can see the camera move and it moves pretty much realtime. On my iphone with 3g, it's about 8 second delay. If I'm on wifi on my iphone, it's about 2-3 second delay.

I was playing around with the camera with its OSD menu. I'm not in it now if you want to try it again. What did you think of the image though?

Http port not opening?
vector18 replied to vector18's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This camera only needs http and tcp. I got it working though. For some reason, http port was not accepting the change in pss. Once I entered what I want it to be in explorer, than it saved and it worked fine. -
I'm playing around with a new camera and I have the TCP port opened no problem. I can view the camera through my ddns server on my iphone on 3G and canyouseem.org says my port is open. BUT, my http (web) port just does not either open or does not see my IP camera. I've tried alot of different ports, I've turned off my firewall, I've reset the camera. I would like to be able to view this camera via IE from the outside. Any suggestions or ideas?

Http port not opening?
vector18 replied to vector18's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
OK, I tried entering the port 8000 while logged into the camera through IE and saved it. I already had that port open in my router, and when I went to canyouseeme.or, it showed me a successful open. It looks like if you use PSS to enter port, somehow, it doesn't stay into the camera? Either way, it's working now. -

I've noticed playback is alittle glitchy if you have many cameras open. Try closing all live video when you playback. -
Or if your dvr has an rs485 Terminal, just use those
