Are you using the transformer that came with the camera or are you using your own? If your own, are you sure the camera needs 24v? Does it need A/C or D/C? Are you using the correct one? Did you contact the seller on ebay and let him know, maybe it's a bad camera?

The wall color is actually pretty hideous. Sorry, but I'm not an interior decorator, I just installed the cameras. The camera is showing the actual color of the wall though.

What is the model of the camera? Some can get wired to the rs485 of the dvr and the dvr can access it's OSD.

Sample pictures from one I had in my office to test it out before I installed it.

I would check your bnc connections, make sure your camera has proper power, and try another pair if you have.
-
Not only install active x, but add the URL of the dvr into 'trusted sites' in internet options, security.

Cut a wire while powered/connected, lost a channel. :(

Are there loop outs on the dvr for each channel? Is there a phone number for the manufacturer that you can speak to someone? Are there any other techs on the board here that have any ideas? -

Have you tried rebooting the dvr? Completely powering it down, wait 5 minutes, than power it up? -

you originally said the wire with power in it. So you cut the wire with video going to the dvr and the power wire for the camera. I'll say it again, did you fix the power issue? I think your making the mistake that the dvr channel is bad because the camera that you connected to the dvr is not displaying a picture because it no longer has power since you cut the wire through it while it had power. If you truly believe channel one is fried, did you take the camera in channel two that is currently displaying a camera and plug it into channel one? -
For 100 more, the dahua system is worth it. Do not forget about powering the cameras though, I did not see that on your list.

Either replace the fuse in the power supply, or if it's a thermal fuse, try resetting the power supply. If your using a plug in transformer, replace the transformer. If you cut the power wire, what makes you think the channel is bad on the dvr though? -

How do you like that 1080P camera? -
Starting to overhaul my CCTV.... finally.. Help!?

Netgear also makes some small wireless battery operated cameras that record onto their servers, but you pay a monthly service charge to view and record them. -
Is this a cctv forum or a sex forum?

That is an option within the camera. We had alot of sunlight coming into the building and the iris was closing too much if we didn't use that masking feature. It only appears while heavy amounts of sunlight. For the most part of the day, the image does not have those black spots. I do agree they look horrible and I'd rather go with WDR cameras, but those were what my boss had given me to install.

Anyone have any experience with any wifi outdoor PTZ's or know of any decent ones at a reasonable price?
-
Why don't you post a link to this wifi ptx thats 720p for 69.99
-
It amazes me that they advertise those cheap foscams as ptz's but their only pt's! The one I ordered has 3x optical which is about equal to a 9mm lens. I really dont need much zoom, I'm more concerned with being outdoor and connecting via wifi. If the pan and tilt is slow that is also ok with me. All I want to do is to be able to pan and tilt onto where I park my car on a public street and than record it from a remote location onto an external hard drive I have set aside.

Welcome to the world of the internet. I myself whenever I enter a store to purchase something, I pull out my Iphone and click on safari and see who has the cheapest price. Everyone including yourself works hard for their money and should have the right to try to save some of it. If they want to install a cctv system by themselves and ask us for help, so be it. The world is a huge place and what are the chances someone in my neighborhood would have called me to install their system if this forum did not exist?

On the Agassio?
-
I have a ton of the snail type cameras out in the field and they have survived thunderstorms and even more. How do you explain that?
-
I bought one from agassio/foscam so I'll try it out next week and give a review. The price is very reasonable and other reviews were not so bad.
-
I see some Agasio PTZ's at very reasonably low prices lately. Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they decent? I'm not expecting WOW or anything like that, just looking for a cheap PTZ that is wifi at an affordable price. http://agasio.com/wireless-ip-cameras-1/agasio-a622w-outdoor-pan-tilt-wireless-ip-camera.html

Is there one camera to rule them all? A 1-camera system?
vector18 replied to ctbaker's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm just guessing right now, but probably an auto tracking, auto zoom, megapixel IP ptz would probably cost more money than several fixed IP megapixels. And I wouldn't trust just one camera to cover my entire property, just my .02. -

Have you tried any of my suggestions or you only want to know what's causing it?
