  1. I have several dvr's using nvrdns.com as the ddns. Their server has actually been down for the past couple of days. My distributor that originally informed me to use nvrddns told me that their internet was down but the servers were ok. They were back up for a day and then went back down for like 2 days. Currently, the service is back up. I would like to know what did you download from nvrddns that was on your computer? I only use that site for remote viewing? I don't see a reason to actually download anything?

    camera and monitor question

Um, run a wire from the dvr to the monitor upstairs?? " title="Applause" />
  3. I'd like to help you, but I have no idea what a Servaillence system is?
  4. I bought a hard drive from Microcenter and installed it myself. It is very easy.
  5. I just recently purchased the dahua 960H hybrid. It records 8 analog cameras and 16 IP cameras. As far as the IP cameras, it can record, 4 1080p or 8 720p or 16 D1 IP cameras. Do not get mistaken when they say 16 HD IP cameras. It only can handle 4 1080p cameras, not 16. Otherwise, shipping was fast, box was well packed, and I was not fond of customer service, but figured out emails was the best way to talk to them. If you call them, they never answer, they always have to call you back.

Code Enforcement Officer Walks Into Home

What, you guys never had a big burly guy walking around your house before and didn't have your contacts in yet?
  11. My typo, I meant standard 24 gauge cat 5. More than likely the interference is not a power issue, but it would be a better idea to double up for power. You have extra wires anyway. I have never seen or heard of video issues if you double up for video? And, you can connect the camera directly to the monitor to make sure it is not the camera and THAN plug it directly into the dvr to make sure there are no transmission issues happening from the camera to the DVR. Basically using process of illumination is the name of the game for troubleshooting.
  12. Try plugging the camera directly into the DVR so you know if it's a bad camera or an issue with the wire. If it's clear when you connect it to the DVR, than the camera is good. Than, cut your wire in half and put a balun on the wire and connect a small test monitor to the balun so you can trouble shoot the length of the noise in the image. Also, which baluns are you using and what length are they rated for? And lastly, make sure your getting proper voltage to the camera. A long length of wire should be more than 22 gauge cat 5. Why don't you try using the two greens for positive and the two browns for negative. Than the two blues for video plus and two oranges or video minus?

    Dahua 960H dvr

Today I installed a Dahua 960H dvr for a friend of mine. We installed 4 sony effio-e eyeball cameras with 700tvl's. I have been installed pretty much D1 dvr's lately so I was expecting a slight difference. In the dvr settings, the main stream goes up to qcif, cif, 2cif, hd1, d1, and 960H. I have the main stream set to 960H. Now the extra stream has the same options, but when I set it for 960H, our Android tablet, Android cell phone, and my Iphone does not display the image. It just gives us a black screen. If I lower the extra stream to D1, we get a picture on every device. Any ideas why this happens? And if it's not a supported resolution for mobile devices, than why does the dvr have that setting? Also, I really wasn't that impressed with the pictures. I was hoping to see a much better picture with a 700tvl effio e camera on a 960H DVR. We had one 1080p tv connected to the dvr with an HDMI cable and it wasn't all that impressive. I do realize a 960H image is a smaller picture than a 1080p picture, but I just would have thought it was going to be noticeably better than the D1's I've been installing. I'll take some screen shots and post them as soon as I get a chance.

More for the Installation Hall of Shame

Agreed, it comes out straighter and cleaner if rigid is used. I was just explaining in case someone did not realize why the guy put a box so far down and than went all the way up. I'm also guessing its covering a large parking lot. And I only like to use seal tight if I have to come off the building with it, not running on the building.

More for the Installation Hall of Shame

I bet if you looked on the roof of that building, you can put a ladder on there and still not reach the top of the brick. More than likely, the handy box is the highest point of entry into the building and thats why that installer did what he did. It may look horrible, but I have a feeling there was a reason.

    2x laptops with dahua (robox)

I think he means add the URL of the dvr as a 'trusted site' in IE settings. Just make sure you uncheck the require http verification box.

    Q-See 4 Channel HD NVR w/ 2 x 720P Cameras

Do you see those blurry spots before you put it on YouTube? When I viewed it on YouTube I made sure to up the resolution. And I've seen other hd CCTV videos on YouTube that did not have that

    Q-See 4 Channel HD NVR w/ 2 x 720P Cameras

I'm not that impressed with the video. I saw some blurry spots and nothing really that crisp. It's a wide view of the area and it's better than analog, but just didn't do it for me. My dahua 720p cameras made me say wow. At night time, they were not too bad as well, they handled the headlights ok, but again, nothing that amazing. I guess for the price they are well worth it though. Thank you for sharing.
