At what resolution does the 1U record at? D1,cif,or qcif? The 960H can record cameras with resolution of 960x480 and a D1 dvr can record cameras with 720x480. A 700tvl camera is equal to 976x494 so by upgrading to a 960h dvr, your resolution will be slightly higher, but nothing major. The only difference you would kind of notice is if you playback something and zoom in. Keep in mind also, the picture will not get clearer at night, the colors will not get more enhanced, etc. If your current dvr does every channel at D1, than I would not upgrade. Even the extra stream on the 960h dvr remains at CIF so if your viewing on a smart phone, there is no difference. An NVR would allow you to extra stream at D1 though.

How did your employer allow you to add 5 extra cameras since you don't even know baluns do not get connected to coax?

It looks like masking is enabled which means it will black out excessive amounts of light to try to keep the entire picture equal in brightness. Something like these cameras, but yours is alot worse.

Do you mind telling us why in the world you would only want 3 days and than overwrite?

My customer upgraded his cameras to IP megapixels so I pulled out this bosch camera. I sent it to Bosch to get checked out and replace anything that needed to be replaced. I have the receipt and I paid a good amount for a complete overhaul. This is a 1200.00 camera and works insane in complete darkness. This is not the actual camera, but this is the one I am selling. Why not get a long masonary bit and blast through the brick so all you have is the camera mounted?

I mean how are you running the wire and plugging it in?

How are you powering the camera?

I do not know that dvr, but have you tried double clicking on the camera you want to view full screen?

Can you take a pic of the entire door area and the door and a pic of the camera itself would be nice.

I suggest adjusting the camera so you do not see so much wall. The IR's on the camera itself is only lighting up the wall. If you can turn the camera to the left off the wall, you will get more coverage of over the fence and the IR's from the camera will most likely do the job of your 40.00 illuminator.

Shockwave is right. It doesn't matter how good your cameras are. You need tight shots for facial recognition which means to cover more areas, you need more cameras. Just upgrading your dvr alone will not make what you have better. And no, I do not have ADD, I just do not like people telling me something when they are wrong.

I guess your one of those that do not read the entire post? He JUST asked a question if his current dvr does something so I told him that he never told us what he currently has. Than he told us that's it's a vanilla hdd with h264 compression. So please read every post before you make any ____ comments!

When viewing a 700tvl camera on a 960h dvr next to a 520tvl camera on a D1 dvr on the same monitor, you are not going to see a difference. But zoom into something and you will see a difference. As far as chips go, I agree, some are better than others when it comes to colors and noise reduction at night.
