    KPD 677 firmware

ftp://211.75.84.102/Firmware/KPD677_1018.rar I believe it is the same firmware/hardware as : CPD556D/CPD556 AVC796AD/AVC796A http://www.ussscctv.com/support/AVC796A_1019.rar BUT DO NOT BLAME ME IF IT IS NOT THE SAME AND KILL YOUR DVR ! I look at booth rar files ... booth files inside look the same. I am looking for the picture of the board of AVC796 variant. ( any help here ?) so I can compare the hardware.

AVTech CPD505 - Backup after power outage, how?

CMIIW, if you have not override the disk.... I remember there is a software that can read raw data of the Avtech HDD. someone did mention it in the forum long time ago. what ever you do... do not try to connect the disk into a computer yet. windows will change the partition which render everything useless

  4. I would like to start a thread to reverse engineer the firmware of this device As my understanding these machine run an embedded version of Linux (GPL/open source) the maker of the firmware suppose to share the code to the community. Looking at the firmware hexcode reveal several things : 1. looks like busybox is exist in the firmware (www.busybox.net) 2. telnetd is usually turn on (part of busybox) 3. cramfs file system is likely being use to create the firmware. anybody try to port scanning on this device yet ? anybody have a clue what SoC chip is being use for these devices ? can anyone post the picture of their mainboard (both side) PS: I still need to figure out how to use cramfs toolkit and the offset -Maled-

  6. Hi... For me HDD storage is not a problem. Price/GB is going down after all My question is : which brand and model of DVR allow us to set the compression bitrate for saving the data ? I tried AVTech KPP677, no setting for bit rate. Thanks, Maled
  7. makes me wonder too.... is there any way to set the FPS auto dynamic setting depend on the activity of the camera.... meaning... if there are 8 camera on 8 channel dvr... motion detect is on. if there are, let say, only 2 camera has activity... then dvr will record more FPS than when all camera has activity. Thanks, Maled
  8. Hi, I just try one of RayVision clone, Lynstan. it has capability to record 16 channel. on the recording option, I can put more recorded frame on one camera than the others. it can do 120FPS @ D1 Resolution for 16 camera = 7,5 FPS / camera makes me wonder.... if I only record 4 camera, that means I can do full 30 FPS @ D1 on each of those 4 camera ? Anyone test this option before for long period of time ? Thanks Maled
  9. (my third post of the day) Hi, Anyone have any idea of the streaming capabilities on KPD677? I try with IE 8 browser, it only works on playback, not live streaming also it is sluggish, but maybe that due to my limited internet speed. but when I try to use the VideoViewer software, it does not give me any option of audio. (even on playback) anyone has a clue ? for comparison, the sample demo site from www.avtech.com.tw can do audio live streaming Thank you, Maled

    Streaming audio on KPD 677

I am not is US, but in Indonesia. I was in US for 8 years, 6 years ago I can understand the way you think on warranty. I am saying that reliability is the most important thing in security business than 3 years of warranty but lots of RMA but I think the good thing about here, most local store/dealer have better repair system. mostly will have its own technician or will try to get it repair in 1 week. and labor is cheap... Well... local store only carry AVC796 non A version too bad for me... I am stuck with KPD677 no one carry Rayvision... have not check Icatch Thanks Maled

    Streaming audio on KPD 677

@Roula The Rayvision's website looks professional. but no demo site. and support site is down at the moment Icatch's website is not convincing. has demo but not very impressive. avtech still looks better. I will try to find Rayvision for my next project. Or maybe apply for their distributorship Thanks, Maled

    Streaming audio on KPD 677

Damn ! I did not do my homework then before buying these Avtech DVR. @Roula is that mean if I have the AVC796A unit, I can do live streaming audio on all channel ? or any other model that can do live audio streaming ? what is the outside physical difference of AVC796A and AVC796? I am thinking to exchange it. the store i bought the unit might only carry KPD677 and AVC796 ( not sure if it is "A" version or not) the problem is, the store only know to sell product, they do not know what the machine capable of. Thanks, Maled

    WDC HDD using EARS

Hi Anybody use the HDD WDC EARS type of drive for DVR ? (specially AvTech brand) what is EARS : http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/wd-4k-sector,2554-2.html I reluctant to use these type of drive. the test I have done, using WindowsXP, is not good. slow at the performance (even after using WDC tools to align the sectors). even on windows 7 still very slow (using long format, regular drive formatted a lot faster on same size) WD claimed that linux will not have problem with the drive. not sure if the linux on the AVTECH DRV will support it. I still use the EADS version for the safe side.
